Is it just me or does Phillipa sound like KITT when she addresses Michael as Michael? I was hoping for a classic Star Trek cliffhanger, like Picard left on the cube, transformed into Locutus and Riker commanding Worf to fire, or when we see a mahoosive fleet of all kind of Alpha Quadrant ships after the taking of DS9 by the Dominion. Proper cliffhangers, not just meeting "another ship" in distress.

I think the lack of Locutus type cliffhanger makes it look like that they weren't sure that it would be renewed for a second series so they wrapped up the Klingon story in a single season arc and had the blatant bit of fan service at the end. Do spoiler tags work here? /edit no, they don't. Feature request please!
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I liked the ending to Discovery. It brought these characters back into line with what the federation should stand for. The enterprise was a suitable cliffhanger for a first season finale I reckon. You don't see the Prime Universe original Enterprise very often and the prospects for a Michael, Sarek and Spock storyline next season look good! The Locutus/Dominion Invasion cliffhangers were during an already well-established series. I think we can expect similar or Discovery as it grows into a second, third & fourth season. As for their renewal worries. They got confirmation of a second season in October so there was nothing to worry about there. I found this an interesting read last night 4

I look at discovery like I do Deep space Nine (my other favourite Trek series). Deep Space Nine was set in the same universe as TNG, but expanded upon it. It told a narrative, and did a little exploring of strange new worlds. But mostly it was based around the characters on the space station. Discovery, set in the same era as TOS, fleshes out some of the history, shows us the era and makes it look visually fantastic. It told a compelling story arc, with some excellent characters and visited a couple of strange new worlds (plus one strange yet familiar universe). Space is very big (Voyager made a point of showing us), there's plenty of room to tell multiple stories in the same era, whilst allowing for a little crossover action from time to time. As a fan of Star Trek, but even more so of good Sci-Fi, I couldn't be happier with this first attempt at a Trek series in over a decade. More of the same please! 3

I exhibit no surprise. i liked enterprise and a lot of voyager though it could of dropped a few episodes per season and it wouldn't of been a problem

I’ve learned the following: 1) The series made with the model railways, clay train faces and wooden people models has held up surprisingly well over the years. It’s quite possible that I’ve been enjoying them as much as my son, maybe even more so. 2) The later CGI ones are utterly soulless 3) Outside of Mel Gibson and Christopher Lambert, Ringo Starr has quite possibly the worst Scottish accent I’ve ever heard! Watch and episode with Donald and Douglas and you’ll see what I mean. Christopher Lambert at least has the excuse of being French to hide behind! 2

The idea is that the gate was actually opened between them unearthing it and SG:1 by..... *drumroll please* you guessed it... Nazis! The episodes are only 10 minutes long but so far it seems ok. I have always loved the Stargate series so will probably continue to watch it.
