Did Stranger Things do anything original in season 2?, I was disappointed with season 1, nothing unpredictable happened.

 

You're the first person i've come across who was disappointed in it!

 

Season 2 is better than the first, i'm no critic but i can't fault it at all.

 

Saying that i am easily pleased when it comes to TV programs and films. Only a few things i can't stand (canned laughter for example, yes i'm looking at you TBBF)

 

But with season 2 i was crying (yes Daleks can cry (they can't)) and cheering at the TV!

 

Best Netflix original series no doubt about it, and i've watched all the main netflix series (Bojack Horseman a close second)

Season 2 is my preferred one due to the action and storyline. I thought Season 1 was based on a story more.

Power and Stranger Things are my two favourite. I've finished all seasons of both. I would still restart them again.

Series 1 was interesting, but I did had trouble staying with it's slow pace at times. Season 2, episode 1 I have paused a couple of times, no real pull to get me to continue watching though.

The OA was alright, i watched it and didn't think much of it. 6/10 ish Stranger Things 9.5/10

I've watched 2 new series recently the first was You, Me and the Apocalypse, I saw it on NowTV and thought it looked funny and might be worth a watch, I watched it to the end of the 10 episodes and I can safely say it wasn't worth watching, wasn't at all funny even though it was trying to be and the acting was beyond terrible.

 

The second series I'm currently watching is one that had completely passed me by and that was Stranger Things, I'm only 4 episodes in and already I'm hooked, I'd have sat there and watched the entire 2 seasons over the weekend if the Mrs wouldn't have strangled me for doing so ( I hate it when she likes something I do because I have to watch it on her schedule) It does bug me that the opening credits music seems to be ripped straight out of Tron Legacy though.

Started on this new series called The Gifted. It is set in a post X-Men/Brotherhood war where mutants who break the law are locked up in detention centres and some just disappear.

 

If you liked Legion or the X-men movies you will probably like this.

Haven't made it past the first ep. The ladies in the house hated it, and I dropped off. I would like to give it a couple more eps as I love the X Men stuff normally.

I gave Legion a bit longer, but couldn't get on with it either. Seemed to be trying to hard to be weird/clever to me.

Legion is great, but super weird. It's a more realistic show about people with super powers, and their mental illnesses. It's often told from the POV of someone who hallucinates, and is possessed, so half of what you see is metaphorical

Just finished Stranger Things season 2 last night. Excellent series, however I am now sad that its over and I will have to wait so very long until the next series.

 

I finished this with my Daughter the other night. Not to panic though, Beyond Stranger Things is now on which, as the show says in the first minute, contains all of the secrets on the show and should only be watched after you have seen all of them.

I'm hoping that there are some things I have missed or flew over my head to be explained in this.

 

@GuyJD I suspect the music sound they were going for was the early 80's synth show intro, although I had to do a double take as I did think it sounded very like Daft Punks Tron Legacy effort.

The Shannara Chronicles. I grew up with the Terry Brooks books, "adjusting" my chits from the housemaster so I could get them in hardback on release day from the town book shop, also remember getting a copy of the StarTrek:TNG Technical Manual for the NCC 1701-D but can't for the life of me remember what the hell I wrote on the original chit to be able to change it afterwards(different times!). This take on the Shannara books, I think focuses on the book "The Elfstones of Shannara". Second season is now in full swing, and seems a lot more post-apocalyptic than the first season, in fact I don't think the first season touched on that at all, now it's all old power stations and rusty metal everywhere. Quite enjoyable really, if you like that kind of thing.

Decided not to bother with S2 as we've got so much stuff we'd rather watch. Sounds like they're saving money on the CG/sets!

Still a lot of big sweeping shots and plenty of CG, just more rusty pylon sets! My take is that S1 was a build up, introduce the characters and the world, save the Ellcrys, blah, blah. This season is focused so far on stopping the return of the Warlock Lord and the actual Shannara plus sword etc. Not much mention of the previous season really at all. Give it a go, if you can find a slot, they are releasing 2 episodes at a time "to create a more cinematic experience"

Does the bigger budget mean that the costume department will be able to splash out on warmer clothes for the girls ?
