ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Watched the first 2 eps of ITV's "comedy" Action Team. It looked like all the money went on making it look expensive and not on the writing. I'm ashamed to admit that I did laugh at times, though. I'm a pretty big fan of Murder in Successville, so I was hoping for a similar level of humour. Will try it tonight and see
mavhc Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Strike. Over now until new books are written I guess. I liked it
CAWJames Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Watched Counterpart on a suggestion from above. Bit slow to start while they set the premise up, but just finished Ep2 and will be continuing. Loving the green text terminals and the sense that Germany never really modernised...but then you see cool mobile tech, nice juxtaposition really.
CAWJames Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 (edited) Stargate Origins, ep 10, what the heck was that load of bobbins? Did the director need the loo, did they run out of money, did the writers have the day off? "Quick, it's the last episode, we need a way to explain why no one remembers visiting a sandy planet through a big disc", Admittedly "writers" may be an overstatement, wasn't the best overall, but I did enjoy being back in that world. Oh and why do the Goa'uld keep calling it the Stargate, shouldn't it be the Chappa'ai? I don't remember them referring to it as a Stargate in the film or SG1(even though that is the translation DJ got for it's name, but from a translation of hieroglyphs not Goa'uld) Edited March 12, 2018 by CAWJames
CAWJames Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Krypton, interesting premise, not a bad pilot, will be continuing.
LeMarchand Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) As Mme LeMarchand has an upcoming show with The Mountains of Madness Philharmonic Choir and has needed some time to practise, I've caught up on a couple of episodes of The Magicians (S03/E08 & 09)- both of which were great. The "musical" episode worked much better than last year's effort (which crowbarred a single song into the plot) by dumping some of the characters in a place where they have to party or die (probably literally). Highlights included Quentin's reaction to Musical Land ("I think we've found Hell"), the explanation for the wombat judge (Fillory doesn't do the requested "Trial by combat" so it was the nearest thing) and a strong burlesque performance from Jade Tailor as Kady. The cast rendition of "Under Pressure" worked really well by both giving the characters largely relevant parts to perform and mainly not over-stretching the poorer singers. The best video I could find follows, though unless you're up to date it probably won't make much sense. Suffice to say: the main characters are split into various groups, but have made telepathic(?) contact and have to sing together to complete the current stage of their main quest - though they all have problems of their own going on. I actually clapped when The Muntjac took flight. Wish SyFy would release a cleaned-up soundtrack. Edited April 13, 2018 by LeMarchand
browolf Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 The remake of Lost in Space seems pretty cool but that robot....
mavhc Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Barry, a hitman is hired to kill a guy who's learning to be an actor in LA, accidentally joins the class and kinda likes it, tries to quit his hitman job.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 The Expanse has started again! Woo! And an excellent first episode it was too! 1
Patrick Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Yeah i really enjoyed it! I'm not usually a Sci-fi kinda guy, but i really like this one.
sparkeh Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 Supernatural S13 starts tomorrow night! *squeal*
CAWJames Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Supernatural S13 starts tomorrow night! *squeal* Enjoyable season so far up to Ep12 here
ICTDirect_Dave Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 So watching the most recent episode of The Flash last night and I had to do a double-take when I noticed two very familiar faces. http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/media/edugeek/jaybob.jpg It's only bloomin' Jay & Silent Bob!!!! 2
phreak Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Loving the new series of the Expanse. Final space is very funny too. Not quite as good as Rick and Morty... but then that is a very high standard set. Still, a very watchable series. Started on the first episode of The Terror The Terror is an American television series that premiered on AMC on March 25, 2018. The series is based on the 2007 best-selling novel of the same name by Dan Simmons. The crews aboard the Royal Navy's polar explorer ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror venture into uncharted territory seeking the Northwest Passage. The ships are soon stuck, frozen and isolated, and those aboard must survive the harsh weather conditions and each other, while being stalked by an elusive menace. It is a little slow.. but interesting if you like that sort of thing. A new cartoon series called Constantine city of demons is out. Although it is only 6 minute episodes so far and only a few episodes in, so can't really give a final judgement on it yet. Always loved the Constantine story though so will continue to watch it. Oh and last but not least, Silicone Valley. Great show!
LeMarchand Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Saw a poster for Westworld on the way into work this morning. Not long now... 1
mavhc Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Oh and last but not least, Silicone Valley. Great show! That's a different show. I watched all of Lenore, the cute little dead girl yesterday https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhT6sPRESxI9q2pM6XiJO0X77M5aCAo5U

Surely this will pose some problems if they want to carry on Catherine's adventures? Her memory will need at least one more wipe. The remake of Lost in Space seems pretty cool but that robot.... I quite liked the robot. Will needed a slap upside the head, though. I liked the call outs to the original show ("Danger, Will Robinson", the music, Bill Mumy) but found the flashback structure annoying. Did the writers think they'd been hired for "Lost, in space"? I'll give it a few more eps at least.
Datamouse Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Netflix - The End of the F***ing World. On the dark side and very amusing.
mavhc Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Netflix - The End of the F***ing World. On the dark side and very amusing. Actually a Channel 4 show, but no one seemed to notice it when it aired
LeMarchand Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 (edited) Actually movie news, but as the spin off show has been discussed here recently... Good news for "Dragons" fans - the final part of the trilogy is pencilled in for a March 2019 release. ^^^ Wrong thread; stressful morning! Edited April 18, 2018 by LeMarchand 1
azc Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Legion S02E01 had its UK premiere last night on FOX. Brilliant show, no idea what's going on and probably won't until the end of the season. A lot like Westworld in that regard. Based off a Marvel comics series, it has loose familial ties with the X-Men series.

Annoyingly put back as it was supposed to be out next month, but they didn't want to go up against Solo.

I say this as a Star Wars fan who owns multiple lightsabers: I'm considerably more excited about another Dragons instalment than I am about the Solo movie.
