Resolved now gals and guys. Remarkably after the latest 'hefty' bunch of updates applied to the Win 7 client and it restarted, despite there being no HP driver among them the printer has been printing from Word again. Haleluliau!

Somehow I have managed to knock off the scheduled Backup in Backup Exec 12.5 - it's in Job History - is there a way to re-enable it. I can't see anything obvious?

It's a right odd one this. WE have two of these old beasties in the school. One is absolutely fine but on Monday this other one suddenly took it upon itself to print perfectly from O365 mail and SIMS but steadfastly refuses to print Word Documents. AS it's the Head's PA's Printer I need to sort it!

We have a HP Laser Jet 3600N printer USB connected to a 64 bit Windows 7 PC. It has, until yesterday been printing fine and dandy but yesterday it decided that it will print ok from SIMS but refuses from MS Office 2010 applications. Done he uninstall and reinstall bit and it comes up as a happy printer but the problem persists. Any thoughts or suggestions please fellow Edugeekers?

Had a a HP AiO printer for home use, found it very expensive on replacement cartridges. For the past 3 years or so we have had a Kodak AIO but with that one it's been a massive frustration as, although advertised as one of the most economic to prun that's not been our experience. It does go quite long periods between use, mainly by her indoors who is a ballroom dance teacher and A level student daughter. Seems I no sooner buy and replace the manufacture branded cartridges than they run out - my guess, the ink dries up in the cartridges if they aren't regularly used. We have a desktop colour laser for most stuff so the AiO is mainly for scanning and copying. Very occasionally printing to photo paper. Can snyone recommend a replacement AiO that's up to the job please, especially a machine that actually works wirelessly with iPads etc. Thanks in advance.

A member of staff complained to me earlier that her Office 365 mail settings have changed. the options to Reply / Forward etc have gone from the top of her message and now appear as a drop down? Any way of reverting it please?

Tried them. Ended up switching to AirServer which requires no kit just a licences download to the teacher Workstation. Under £7 for quantity of 10 or more. Works a treat. https://www.airserver.com/Buy/Education

Not only free but continually improving the raft of added value extras that come with it. Plus their support is also top notch. Top notch but often there's a little difficulty in hooking up with them time zone wise.

Ah, bring back the days of waiting for SP1 (What SP1, never seen a SP with Windows 7 or have I had my eyes shut?) before deploying a new OS.

Fair point @rhys1984 I've noticed on an iPad that the thanks button doesn't appear every time as well.

I'm standing with @dastrix on this one. We are an EBD School for KS3/4 boys and need everything locked down as tight as possible. That linked to the face the budget forces us to run a 32 bit standard Edition Windows Server 2008 that's to put it mildly 'pinched' for space, especially on the OS partition and therefore running Chromebooks or Google apps is out of the question currently has made us pretty reliant on YouTube for Schools. Our filtering is through SWGfL and they are exploring if there is any way round this issue.

We who inhabit Edugeek know that the updates aren't just released by Microsoft by fun but as a necessity to plug security holes. That said I suspect that many of us have a neigh on impossible task convincing those higher up the food chain. That's certainly my current problem. A problem not helped when the necessary updates seem to screw things up! My current problem is as with @MrFrostmaul our servers carry out scheduled critical and security updates and restarts through WSUS. Unfortunately the six year old 32 bit Standard Edition Server 2008 DC is now creaking and the 50 GB OS partition was fit for purpose when the server was set up but nowadays it's too small. In fact ours has less than 10% free space so sometimes it's hanging after restarts now. Unfortunately I have so far been unable to convince the management of the urgent need to replace it!

Great to read that it seems a lot of schools haven't got this crazy outsourcing bug. To me, it's common sense that in house has got to be the best option all round but it's like websites I guess; someone in management thinks the web site needs replacing -.often with one like they had in their old school. The point on that being they fail to grasp that someone in house still has to be hands on for the content management!

Congratulations on the promotion. Sorry to be a damp squib. Hope that your school doesn't become an academy, get new leadership with a coincidal change of governors. In my experience those 3 factors often equals outsourcing and potential redundancy.

You lucky, lucky man Andy. My bid to replace our 6 year old 32 bit T610 running Standard edition server 2008 wasn't given the green light. So, we have to limp along with what we have!

Yikes that gave me a fright Running a 32 bit Server 2008 Standard DC that won't even itself accept IE11 that would be some nightmare!
