Last year I attended the SW Regional ICT Conference at UWE Bristol. There were a few pretty dry and uninteresting presenters. On the otherhand without a doubt the star event for the day for me was Rhinan Khavanah who seemingly unscripted stood up to in front of a full lecture theatre and presented on Cyber Security. She was totally mesmerising and inspiring. She has since been into my EDB Special school and mad a presentation to our KS3/4 lads. Sadly I understand that funding for the outfit she works for E-Skills? has been pulled by this 'Government'.

Yikes, on 'laptops' that's brave as even the Pearson guide recommends steering clear of laptop installs!

What a shameful disgrace this software is. I'm still trying to set it up. The Test machines and the Invigilator machines seem to tyalk to each other fine but when they send us the Demo it never appears on the Administrator console. Latest suggestion to us is to uninstall and reinstall the EES.

Sadly this seemingly useful tool no longer works with the 'updated' Pearsons system. Tried it today, threw up loads of errors which I reported to their support - and they told me the tool was no longer useful.

Any way of easily changing the Invigilator setting in the Test Window, or is it a case of uninstall and reinstall?

Started this install now. However, on the Readme that pops up after installing the main package it says: IMPORTANT: Make sure to activate GUEST account, needed for Network Sharing of msi packages Surely that can't be right?

Through SWGfL we have YouTube for Education running. I wanted to add the Pearson POP Clip on how to set up their BTEC Testing Software but can't see where I can get it to add. Anyone got a numpty's guide they could share with me please? Currently the flipping thing is filtered even if I try to run it from a staffproxy allowed account.

The Perarson POP document is at best confusing. As a technical document is in my opinion one of the worst I have ever encountered. However, it does contain this useful YouTube clip which, thankfully is pretty easy to follow.

My feeling, for what it is or isn't worth is that the person who responded to me got wires crossed. I have asked our HT to query this.

No doubt I'm breaching Copywrite by reproducing part of the text from the message they sent me but, here goes anyhow: In response to your enquiry Providers must not use the Ofsted logo at any time. As a government department we must be seen to be impartial at all times. We are therefore unable to grant permission to reproduce or use the Ofsted logo. To me this seems totally counterproductive. I can't think of any material we have received from any schools of recent years that hasn't had the various logos displayed. e.g. Ofsted - Good or Outstanding, Healthy Schools, Sportsmark, FMIS etc. A very odd situation indeed.

Updating our web site recently I noticed we needed to change the Ofsted logo as our grading had changed. Mindful of the way those lovely people at Getty have pursued some users of their images I thought I'd be on the safe side and seek permission from Ofsted. The reply I had today was an unequivocal No! Doesn't seem very logical does it as all schools that have been subject to the Inspection of Ofsted want to celebrate decent grades by displaying the Logo on their stationery and web sites.

Ghee whiz - this thread is now 20 pages long. Says volumes about this Software. Why are we allowing them to foist it upon us. It sounds a complete nightmare and a complete crock. With massive reluctance I'm going to start deploying it tomorrow.

Yikes! My school has decided we will be running BTEC Onscreen Exams this March! Naturally receiving the mega Pearson Document I had a quick look and though Ouch! My next port of call was my ever trusty Edugeek and a quick search landed me up on this 19 page thread which I see started off in 2013. Being a lazy sort of cove I was wondering if anyone has an up to date experience of this Package. We are an EBD school and will be running 17 students through the exams on a vanilla Server 2008 / Windows 7 domain. Thanks in advance for any feedback and of course thanks will be duly given for all helpful replies.

Sadly this doesn't surprise me one little bit. These computers are made in Comunist China afterall - heck so are a heap of other brands. As to the statement above by @ZeroHour that Lenovo is pretty crapware free I must say I read that with a fair bit of surprise. The ones we have bought over recent years come pretty heavily laden with the darned stuff. What came as a huge surprise to me was to be told by a warranty repair visiting Tech that I should always use the Lenovo update tool and avoid getting updates selected by Microsoft. Worrying. I'm wondering if this thread would be better located where it's less easily visible?

Another + for Impero. It does this and SO much more. Just wish I had time to learn the full range of things it does and can do. I could do with training on it to make the best of it. That said I don't let my teachers and instructors near it. I did once and was forever having to release clients the then Head of ICT kept locking and leaving!

Sounds to me like the client is not picking up the IE proxy setting first time round?

I'm off to Hospital for a day or so and want a contingency plan for if I'm not around. I just want to allow her to lock accounts down, add new users and reset passwords. None of the above seems to work when I try it. I was wondering if Delegating Control might be a way forward?

I'm currently trying to allow an Admin Staff member access to Active Directory on our Server 2008 Standard Domain she can get to the log on screen but on entering her details gets the following message: To log on to this remote computer you must be granted the Allow log on through Terminal Services right. By default, members of the Administrator group have this right. If you are not a member of the Administrators group or another group that has this right or if the Administrator group does not have this right you must be granted this right manually. What do I need to change. I clearly don't want to give her full Admin rights.

I've used LCW for several years now. First class service and top reputation. Free and you know that their kit will be turned around to good use wherever possible.

Thanks Dave, Any suggestions on which - I'm guessing it will be CMD and as our little dears have been abusing that in the past we block it with Sophos and Impero. Guess, I'm going to have to set up some flipping laptops specifically for this one.

Thanks Dave. Yes, it's installed on the C: drive. Which particular folder in Python needs the permissions altered please. We have Impero so I guess I can lock the Internet down with that.

My ICT Teacher asks that some client PC's (Windows 7) be set up with python 3.4. That's done. She tells me she can run the IDLE (python 3.4 GUI - 32 bit) from my desktop at school when logged in as me, when the boys use their login they get a filtering error. Additionally she asks that the client computers have the internet blocked during a controlled assessment. How are others schools working around this one please?

Sadly with IJT under their many, many, many trading names their offer sounds great but they just fail to take no for an answer. Once they have you on their mailing list of any sort beware you will get mightily miffed with the persistence of their sales people. One off our teachers swears by them. I swear about them! The Dell printer he had off them went phut in very little time and we now have about six sets of toners for it.
