Updates are great aren't they! We all understand the need but teaching staff and indeed sometimes at the chalk face find it pretty frustrating when the update ends up in a flubar situation. Aside this current Flash player fun and games the latest Mozilla seemingly brought a load of grief - can't access my Procurve consoles now because the Java plug in isn't playing. Tried all sorts especially from the really useful input from the folk on this Forum. That's me done till the 1st of September now - or at least I think it is! Hopefully these two issues will have been resolved by the time I go back.

Our Art teacher complained this morning that several of the web sites she uses refuse to run claiming Flash needs upgrading. Latest version of Flash has already been applied? Any suggestions please. Example of the type of www that refuses is Grafiti Creator.

I'm pretty sure you would need to seek permission and probably pay a fee to Impero to do this. Our O365 was set up for us and the company built the banned word list which we had to sign a copywriter disclaimer fore before it was made live.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but we have a similar issue. With ours we have a 32 bit Server 2008 Standard edition DC and tha itself won't take IE11. Mindful that support for IE10 expires in Jan 2016 we have let IE11 deploy through updates. Oddly the students continue to pick up the proxy setting fine but staff logging onto a fresh client need to manually insert it. Odd or what!

I'm trying to set up O365 access for some key governors. On my test account I can't see how to lick it down so that they don't get access to the whole address book. Any suggestions please?

Apparently from 1st Sep 2015 it's going to be a requirement that School Governors' Declarations of Interests are displayed on School websites.

Thanks Lee. We have staff users of varying technical ability; some have taken to O365 likes ducks to water - the suspicion is that a few others haven't even logged onto it in the close on ayear we have had it. I must admit it's such a big beastie I haven't explored it to any great depth yet but find it fabulous and love finding new features. What I'm after is a simple Power Point to include on a TD day to show them the things O365 can actually do for them to encourage them to use it.

We have had Office 365 for the best part of a year now. Apparently some of our Teaching and Support Staff are not up to speed with it. For reasons I'm pondering I as NM have been asked to 'train' the staff up on what O365 can do for them. Does anyone have a presentation they would share with me please to help achieve this task?

Sure, is. They had only one applicant by the closing date. My guess is that the applicant didn't meet the pretty exacting skill set. It sounds an absolute peach of a job for whoever does get it. I wish I had more knowledge of Linux and at least an understanding of the various programming languages. If I did I'd be knocking on their door toot sweet.

What do you folk use for Network address translation?

Like the answers so far. Leaves me thinking what a lucky bunch of people you are. I'm facing massive change resistance - our staff would still like to be on XP running Office 2003! We are currently stuck with a six year old 32 bit Server 3008 Standard DC and Win 7 Pro clients mostly running Office 2010 with a few running Office 2013. Have a couple of staff clients running Win 8.1 but with the DC limitations they aren't exactly well integrated. Trying to convince the powers that be that be to allow progression to Server 2012 with Hyper-V. I now know how Mohammed felt trying to move a mountain! You get the picture then that it's unlikely a change to 10 with an image roll out containing Office 2013 ain't going to be happening soon in my establishment.

That's mad isn't it! I was employed as a Tech then they upgraded my post to NM - I don't have any staff. In another thread I asked for a reality check and the flavour that was coming back was my hours to do what I do are perhaps generous and that it seems a lot of schools are now going down the road of automating a lot of tasks. I'm left wondering what I could automate as most of the time I'm fire fighting and helping staff out with the IT / Software problems their teaching degrees haven't prepared them to face.

Yes, high time for a reality check and total revision of he way Parliament works. Unelected Upper House - what a farce! Far, far too many MP's. Far too much time spent swannying around at tax payers expenses and that includes Party Conferences. Those should be held in their holiday time. It's a total disgrace when you view the Parliament channel and see important debates in the house with only a handful attending. Turn the place into a museum as said earlier. Fair enough it's going to need somewhere else to house the Parliament but haven't HSBC got itchy feet and are looking to move their HQ out of Cannary Wharf? Perfect!

You are so right @plexer Had that situation with a APC UPS 1500. So swollen it was impossible to get out online. Had to switch the server off, disconnect the UPS and it was the best part of an hour before the battery had cooled down sufficiently to get it out.

I can highly recommend David Blackman of Pumpkin Telecom - based in Frome. If you can't find him on the internet please PM me for contact details. We had an archaic have system in my school, bits bolted on here there and everywhere. David streamlined us from our FTTC point to the server room with fibre and ironed out several potential loop backs that had been created over the years as well. Top man. Excellent value for money and basically a diamond geezer. He is also a telecoms expert.

Sounds good @plexer but as O365 is not behind a filter controlled by the school ISP or within the school what would you recommend please?

Issue now resolved. I visited the Aople store at Southgate in Bath with the iPad and even though it's 3 years old now they sorted the issue for me. Apparently it's a know issue brought on by updates of the OS. Resolution was by backing up then resetting followed by a restore from the back up.

Since upgrading to V8.3 several of our iPads have stopped fetching and sending mail from the built in mail button. Clicking on it, it tries to open but after about 30 seconds the screen goes black then returns to desktop. This is happening both out of school and when there. Anyone else experienced this and if so did you manage to resolve the issue?
