Hi @SpuffMonkey I've just been tasked with writing a Disaster Recovery Plan for our small KS3/4 EBD school and not wanting to reinvent the wheel did an Edugeek search and came across your superb offering. Being a tad cheeky but I notice that your Draft was from 2006 I was wondering if you might be able to post up a newer version please?

It seems that the latest update for many 16GB iPad 2s is one update too many requiring 4.6GB of space to be applied. What's the thought's on this? Most of our 25 ish iPads are that size. A few have that sort of space left on them but the bulk are maxed out on space so won't take the update. Not much of a life being an iPad two has it Bet they wished they'd been good solid old Windows with a bit of built in staying power!

I don't know if he will mind but Steve Hill of this very Parish did not only one for my school (which he continues to maintain and offer top quality hosting on) but he also did the same service for a couple of clubs I'm involved with as well. He has, I know, put together several other sites for various clubs and charities as well. Many for free some for a minimal fee. Top man and a great chap to interact with as well.

Best they cancel Gogglebox as well. The 9/11 item last week was touching a nerve for me but last nights episode saw me switch it off altogether. Totally unacceptable.

Fair comment but the initial problem was The Coprosessor Driver was missing and the machine had LAN access but not Internet access. The Acer Support site looks excellent but the only driver it offered for Win7 was an Audio one. The machine shipped with Vista. Their Chat was no flipping good - the machine's about 5 years old and the chap pointed out that even though it wasout of warranty he would try and help but came up with nowt!

I downloaded Lan_NVIDIA_67.7.2_Vistax64_A.zip and tried to run that. It didn't seem to do anything after decompressing and running the app. I went away and did something else for a while then restarted the PC and it asked for another restart when it Configured from I think the NVIDIA package several updates (Graphics, LAN to mention but two) and that seemed to sort it - odd or what? It's now asking for a further NVIDIA update but anyhow now it's connecting to tinternet and is downloading 209 updates - I'm guessing that that's likely to include the Graphics driver again anyhow.

Got it sorted. Thread can be closed. Good old Windows 7 - it's a beaut!

We have a couple of Acer Veriton M464 machines that I'm looking to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit. Popping the OS on everything is tidy apart from the fact that under Network Adapters the Coprocessor hasn't picked up a driver. The Acer support doesn't have one available. Any suggestions please? I did upgrade a sister M464 with W 7 32 bit and that one's ok.

Fed up with this. We have Ofsted today so doubly fed up. I feel a great loyalty to SWGfL and their staff but this poor level of service is just completely unacceptable. Who are people switching to? I think we will defo be switching but what provision of monitoring and filtering come with oher ISPs?

Worth getting a quote from C.P. Ltd or Cloudle as they seem to be turning into. Can't recommend them highly enough. Their expertise of Andy Radcliffe is second to none and they didn't break the bank either.

Sorry to hear this. On the other hand so glad we took the plunge and with megga assistance from C.P. Ltd - in particular Andy Radcliffe we migrated to O365 over the summer. Highly recommended for any school thinking of taking the plunge. Support from C.P. Ltd exceptional. Highly recommended.

I have visited several threads recently where people have asked for advice and as ever with Edugeek mighty useful advice has freely flowed. However, even though written thanks has duly been given the person posting OP hasn't hit the thanks button. Come on folks if thanks is due please use the thanks button. It really does make a difference

The cheapest option fulfilling most of your requirements is clearly printing to a network connected leased photocopier. Something like one of the newer Ricoh machines. If you really have to have a machine printing locally in the classroom though then my preference is currently a Brother laser. I don't know what A3 options they have but suspect it's going to be mighty expensive. My Photography Section fussed and fussed for an A3 which I duly got and set up for them. I think it's a HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter - HP Store UK they don't ever seem to use it now though. Indeed last time I looked they had managed to loose the power unit so it's now a dead duck. I'm waiting for the relevant teacher to broach the subject then explain what he has done with the power unit!

Congratulations. A fabulous, up to date and very clean and clear web site. The only thing I noticed from my quick visit from Safari on an iPad was the Durhamlearning.net link isn't working. Clearly the whole site is the result of a heap of well planed hard work and excellent interaction with all staff. Which platform is it built on?

The teacher is running the GUI ok but the student is getting the following message: Subprocess Startup Error IDLE’s subprocess didn’t make the connection. Either IDLE can’t start a subprocessor a firewall software is blocking a setting. I'm guessing that this must be something Group Policy related - any suggestion where to look please?

My advice - don't run on hard surfaces. From experience it croaks your joints no matter how good your trainers are. I learnt the hard way, ran a couple of marathons and too many half marathons, 10 milers and 10Ks to remember. Now paying the price. One half knee replaced already and in reality both need full replacements and I'm only 62!

Thanks duly given for the Thread @gpjt I’m NM at a small KS3/4 EDB Special School and we have a new Head of Maths / ICT. It’s been decided that our chaps will be studying GCSE Computer Science and I have been asked to install Python on the Windows 7 clients in two classrooms – by this coming Monday! I know nowt about Python but guess that it’s use is going to result in increased data saves by the lads for a start and that it’s Open Source or is it? We have O365 A2 accounts set up and I’m wondering if the GCSE is totally watertight on using Python or is the MS Alternative available allowing us to make use of the 50GB Cloud storage that each account has? As a total newbie to this any help would be very welcome especially as I don't work Fridays!

In my time on Edugeek I can't recall this question being posed but thanks as it's one I've always pondered asking myself. There must be a better answer involving the manufacturers I reckon? They might only cost pence to produce but they must be worth something to a manufacture supplying the Continent?

Jumping on this very useful thread as it's a similar issue - I suspect to one I'm trying to sort at present. We have 11 classrooms fitted with various models of SmartBoard. I'm currently replacing a PC that drives a SmartBoard in our Science Classroom. I'd installed version 11.4.103.1 but on connecting the PC everything was working ok but the software refused to run the SmartBoard. I've now uninstalled - twice - first through Control Panel (re-installed to no avail) without a restart secondly with the built in uninstaller. I'm now installing Version 11.0.113.0 to see if that makes any difference. So far not looking good. The green light remains stubbornly red!
