Reviving this thread if that's ok? We are currently looking at buying this in but seems a hefty price. We are KS3 EBD with 70 students. Feedback would be welcome please.

My oh my, you are having a time of it. With bought in help, I'm about to start ours this week. I hope that by migrating the daily multi moan of "I can't send my Easymail messages, when I'm at home" gets sorted out. It does doesn't it?

Yes let's hope so. Sadly they will be prosecuted by the soft system we have and given some community service no doubt. Bring back a system of justice I say.

Sad that - and such a deprivation of a good recourse from those who deserved to have it there to enjoy. I was going to say it's probably been done by youth whose parents / carers are first in line complaining that there's 'nothing for the kids to do in the town' but probably the culprits are the spawn of people who just don't give a care anyhow.

Had this problem, no one was able to resolve it for me until Kevin Carter of Capita spotted that the C:\Windows\Temp folder permissions were not propagating correctly. Have to set them so the User has control over the folder or else Office can't set it's Temp file up in there. Huge thank you to Capita's super star Kevin - I don't think he lurks here but the man is an absolute gem.

Saw a demo of one of the new Epson short throws recently - seems to tick all the boxes and certainly it will be what we order next time. Don't know where in the UK you are but if you want any projectors, SmartBoards or AV kit fitted in this area (I'm in Wiltshire) I can recommend an excellent chap based in Newbury. He even re-fits installs others have bodied up! PM me if you want his details.

I recently saw a stand giving details of VLE | Virtual Learning Environments and Learning Platforms for schools | eSchools This looked very useful and interesting as it seems to offer a secure CMS site with MIS integration allowing class registration on iPad etc., parent communication, VLE and several other useful features. Preferably by PM can anyone give me feedback on experience of this company please.

I attended the South West ICT Conference at the fab ex Hewlett Packard HQ at Flton now so wisely under ownership of the University of the West of England today. I remember attending similar events in the past that had been cost free to delegates it was a shame this one wasn't. Noticeable gaps in the Exhibitions I thought - no Edugeek Stand for a start nor were MISCO or Impero there just go name three. The biggest disappointment for me though was weict14 was provided as an App and there was a Twitter feed yet no free Wifi access to delegates. I met some fab people but come on now West of England ICT if you want to do a proper job you are going to need to make this a free event again and above all give delegates Wifi access - this is 2024 after all!

Nay @matt40k the newer ones are thin enough to make fantastic doorstops as well. That said I seem to use mine a lot. - especially compared with the Toshiba Encore Tablet I got in for testing which in my opinion was a complete waste of money as it just doesn't compare, or come to that function as a device that's in any way, shape or form of use to me or Donald Duck even!

We are running SIMS with Nova T6 - we want to be able to display timetables produced by T6 on iPads. Can we do this, if so how?

We have 5 HP Z200 workstations quite highly specked for photographic use that originally had XP Pro on them but now have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Four run like a dream but number five boots ok whilst I'm stood there watching it but then after use and shut down next time tries to and fails to pick up a PXE boot then goes to a flashing cursor on a black screen. Ctrl Alt Del results in it trying and failing to find the PXE boot image then going onto boot into Win 7 normally. Something in the BIOS - which is up to date I think but for the life of me I can't see what the problem is?

On cost alone, if nothing else, Airserver for me is the way to go. One off payment for our site of, I think something like $39 against that we bought three Apple TV sets along with HDMI / VGA converters which came in with a cost of over £100 a set. Plus there's the other issue of where to safely place the Apple TV / Converter kit. Tried fixing it to a wall but it was still a mess and also pretty open to thieves.

It seems coincidental with recent MS updates that users of one of our clients running MS Office 2013 gets a save option coming up on logon to save a *.xps document. This is happening with all users on this particular machine now?

Good point. EDB KS3 school. 35 FTE Staff, 70 students. A whopping 200 devices grabbing DHCP leases. Nine classes with 8 lads per class. Teachers all have iPads plus extra 16 iPads for the lads over the Summer, corridor CCTV Cameras and VOIP phone system coming in as well.

It's coming up to the time when our SWGfL agreement is due for renewal again now and quite frankly we havent been 100% happy with the FTTC solution we currently have - mostly it's ok but I've had it in the neck a few times because of laggy YouTube streaming. Filtering and monitoring have been excellent but overall I'm wondering if it's time we shopped around? What are others in the SWGfL area usung nowadays please?
