Restricting access to interactive panel controls
BenQ_Chris replied to Oaktech's topic in Physical Security
Hi @Oaktech Can I ask for make/model of screen? I ask as a lot of BenQ screens have the ability to lock down the buttons (as well as IR/touch). Feel free to drop me a DM. -
Hi @Rob_D the main benefit of HDBase-T is simplicity & cost. HDMI over IP can run further, more flexible and better 4K capabilities. Overall HDMI over IP is superior, but if you just need a simple point to point solution over a longer distance than standard HDMI (depending on kit max 100m) HDBase-T extender kit may suit.

Morning @OLdMan99 As far as hall installs go there are two main options cable & wireless. Cables can be VGA (old tech and most new laptops will not support), HDMI (limit of cable run to 7-10m but can be massively extended by using HDMI over LAN), HDBaseT (complete transmission over LAN cable, much longer cable runs but may require either new projector or more specialist equipment). Wireless - In theory, the easiest and simple to implement. You say Clickshare is having issues, what issues are you having? At BenQ we have a few options, with different features but also different transmissions strengths/distances. Our InstaShow WDC10 for example has a maximum distance of 8m from transmitter to receiver. However our newer InstaShow VS10 and VS20 have a maximum distance of 20m. Additionally our transmitters (buttons) as far as the source device is concerned is a monitor, no drivers, no install. You can also manage network channels on our InstaShow products to account for existing network traffic. If you have any further questions please drop me a DM.

Hi @enbiggen - at BenQ we have the GW2283 (GW2283|21.5" 1080p Eye-Care IPS Monitor | BenQ UK): 21.5", 1080p, built in PSU, 2 x HDMI and the panel also features our eye-care technology. The SRP on these is £89.99 (inc. VAT). Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Morning @AshleyNicholas, I don't know what screens/projectors you are using them with. But on the off chance they are more recent BenQ Interactive Displays, you may be interested to know that they now support P2P Miracast with touchback. If you would like to know more or have any questions just drop me a DM.

Hi @MarkRobbz there are some manual settings on the board where you can set power saving, there is a standby timer, power save mode and shut down timer, these can be found in the "device" tab in settings menu and "display". You also have an option in the "system" tab under "start up behaviour" to set screen to standby on boot up. If you disable the power off timer, so the screen only ever shuts the backlight off and doesn't do a full shut down, Broadcast should wake the screen. Anything else let me know.

@HyperTech If you can DM me the model, serial number, version of FW and version of DMS installed; I'll take a look. It could be that something went asked in the binding process and they are stuck, so I may have to manually unbind in the backend.

Hi @HyperTech apologies I didn't get back to you yesterday, our device management system (DMS) comes at no extra cost once you have our panels. If you want to DM your details I can help get you set up.

Hi @MarkRobbz apologies I didn't get back to you yesterday, I'm glad you found it straight forward to set up. Our panels are certified for use on the C2K network which will have helped. If you'd like to know or if I can be of any assistance drop me a DM, either remote or in person as I'm based in Northern Ireland.

Managing EDLA Touch Screens with Google Admin
BenQ_Chris replied to jpshaw282's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Jonathan, I can only speak for us at BenQ, but on our EDLA models (currently in the UK that is the RP04 series) we have combined the stock EDLA system with our BenQ cloud services. The BenQ cloud services are: - IAM (Identity and Access Management) - this is where you can create your users, either manually, importing or configuring SSO (Google & Azure AD) - DMS (Device Management Solution) - this is where you can control your screens, block Play Services, install apps, update firmware/apps and set your automated tasks - AMS (Account Management System) - this is where you can configure "global" user policies, manage NFC (RP series only), set default backgrounds and allow users to set profile picture, connect cloud storage, pin apps, bookmarks to their account - Broadcast - Allow for interrupt or scheduled messages to be displayed on one or more screens (these can be text, image/s, video, YouTube, YouTube Live, audio, PDFs, PowerPoint or Google Slides (via Google Drive) There is no additional charge for any of these service on the BenQ interactive panel, you only need to have the screens connected to the internet and the RP04 series comes complete with our latest Wi-Fi dongle which supports Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth 5.2. You of course can use the included LAN port if you want to as well. The RP04 series all features germ resistant screen and pens, tempered reinforced glass, environmental sensors - temperature, humidity, CO2, PM (2.5/10) & TVOC (all of which gets fed back in to DMS). They are available in 65", 75" & 86". We recognise that these are costly investments, so we offer peace of mind with the warranty, if you register within 30 days of purchase your warranty will be upgraded to 5 year de/re-install (upgrade from 3 year de/re-install). I'd be happy to provide a remote demo, and hopefully answer any questions you may have. If you'd like to know more just drop me a DM. -
Morning @JAKBLACK71 hope you're well. I agree when it comes to panels, it is a minefield out there and it can be difficult to judge what would suit you best. I'll run through some of the core principles of our BenQ products and should you have any further questions please feel free to drop me a DM. Firstly, warranty, not all warranties are equal. Some warranties will offer cover for a period of time, but in the small print it can change from on-site to return to base, which means you are responsible for logistics costs. Having worked in after warranty service before this isn't cheap. What we try and offer is peace of mind, out of the box all of our interactive panels 65" and larger have a 3 year de/re-install warranty (two person team will come to site and replace a faulty screen); however if you register within 30 days of purchase this will become a 5 year de/re-install warranty at no extra cost (exactly the same warranty as the first 3 years). Secondly, hardiness, again not all panels are as tough as each other. I know a lot of people that are advocates for TVs, on first glance this may be appealing, however TVs have no protection to the glass so they are very easily damaged and warranties are not always honoured out of a consumer setting. Most interactive panels will have stronger glass; I can't speak for every screen in the market, but our RE series is 3.2mm thick and is rated 9H on the Mohs mineral hardness scale (10 being diamond). You can get thicker glass which first upon impression will be better but these are often rated lower (7H) and will make it harder to see and interact at an angle. The Mohs scale doubles with each increase, so 9H is not 2 better than 7H, it is 4 times tougher. Thirdly, you mention network connectivity, you are correct, the RE series does not include a dongle, these are an optional extra; however they do have LAN sockets, so if you do want to have internet connectivity on the panel itself you can use a LAN cable (you will need a power cable anyway). But if you are planning on driving the content from a laptop or PC then you may not actually need the dongle. We also offer a host of additional features at no extra cost; cloud management (DMS), account management (AMS), messaging (Broadcast) and the BenQ Academy where users can watch and learn how to get the best out of their purchase. Lastly, you can always contact myself with questions or seeking advice and I'll be happy to help where I can.

Buying projectors in light of EU's law change
BenQ_Chris replied to localzuk's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks for mention the @Dos_Box From the position of BenQ, we will phase out lamp based projectors prior to the directive taking effect. According to "Annex III to Directive 2011/65/EU 4(f) -II - Mercury in high pressure mercury vapour lamps used in projectors where an output ≥ 2000 lumen ANSI is required" becomes applicable 24th February 2027. After this date BenQ will continue to service spare lamps when customers need to replace bulbs (according to BenQ's standard warranty terms). We just won't sell lamp based projectors or lamps in the EU (this will also be applicable to the UK). All of our projectors will likely transition to LED or laser based modules (as many of our range have already done) prior to this date as well. We also have a range of interactive flat panels (which you can disable the interactive function if you want to) currently ranging from 65" up to 98" which have tempered reinforced glass and are warrantied for use in education, they also feature cloud based device management, messaging and account services at no additional cost (just require internet access). The latest RX04 range are also all Google EDLA certified giving access to all the native apps. If you'd like to know more or if I can be of any further assistance please let me know. -
How can I use a touchscreen without it repositioning my mouse pointer?
BenQ_Chris replied to Exigious's topic in Windows 11
Hi, I think in the control panel there is a function called "Tablet PC Settings", this should enable you to configure the touch on each panel. Hope that helps.- 2 replies

Microsoft Display Adapter Replacements
BenQ_Chris replied to benjamin-44's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Hi, Depending on the equipment already in the classroom you may already be able to do this. On the latest BenQ screens, if using the wireless dongle you can set up P2P Miracast direct to the board, you can even enable touchback. If you'd like to find out more just let me know. -
Other software to open Promethan ActiveInspire flipcharts?
BenQ_Chris replied to mrhall's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Hi, If you're looking for an alternative, you may be interested in BenQ EZWrite 6. It's free to download, install and use. Available as an .msi or .exe, no registration unless you want to use the cloud whiteboard feature; where you can either request a free license code (via email address) or sign in with a BenQ AMS account if you have one. You can open .iwb & .notebook files. It comes pre-installed on our latest Rx03/Rx04 panels but can be installed on PC & mac too (there's even a browser based version). If you'd like to know more, let me know. EZWrite 6 Download (benq.eu) -
Whether you've just installed a new screen over the Christmas break or you are thinking about upgrading your current set up, it may be time to talk to BenQ. We offer demos (remote and in person) and will be at Bett 2024 (NE10), below are some of the key features we have, but not all of them! Our interactive displays can be used as large monitors, interactive displays or wireless casting screens, there really is no "correct" way to use them. We also offer a host of complimentary benefits that you may find useful: Google Play Store (EDLA) integration (currently RP04 only), using DMS you can control access to this and which apps are visible on the screens DMS - Device Management System (this has recently had a big upgrade at no cost) - LINK AMS - Account Management Service - LINK Broadcast - Messaging service - LINK Instashare 2 - network based casting supporting Android, iOS, Chromebook, PC, mac Now all these cloud services do require internet connectivity, all the panels come with built in LAN ports or alternatively there is a wireless dongle that is available as an optional accessory; however it is included as standard with the RP03 & RP04 screens. On our latest screens there is also EZWrite 6, a huge step forward from us with the built in whiteboard software. It is also available at no extra cost for PC & Mac - LINK I fully appreciate that that is probably a lot to take in, which is why we have launched the BenQ Academy - BenQ Academy Users can log in to their account (once set up) and they can track their progress through the various videos hosted here. We are CPD certified and are well on our way to getting the BenQ Academy certified as well. Warranty (de/re-install) - register the product to get an FOC upgrade from 3 to 5 years (RE, RM, RP 65" and larger) - Warranty Extension IFP | BenQ UK In the unlikely event of your product being faulty, please contact our customer care team - BenQ Customer Support We also can support training and configuration. Should you have any questions or would like to arrange so training sessions for you or your staff please drop me a message. I'll do what I can to help.

Replace short throw projectors with TV screens
BenQ_Chris replied to leegcvcc's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Hi leegcvcc, Whilst TVs would on paper offer the cheapest solution, I would advise caution: - non-commercial warranty - standard glass strength - lack of freeze function - limited connectivity - typically plastic chassis - reflective screens At BenQ we are able to offer value led screens (RE series), we are able to offer remote demos and depending on the opportunity we also offer on site in person demos. We will also be at Bett (stand NE10) where you'll be able to get hands on with the whole range. I've highlighted a few key areas that our screens have. If you don't want to use the interactivity that is fine, you can disable the touch function if needed. With all the screens you get included at no extra cost: Toughened, tempered reinforced glass De/Re-install warranty (5 year upon registration) Eyecare (low blue light and flicker free) Anti-glare screens EZWrite 6 whiteboard software built-in (with Windows and mac versions) Network based casting solution (Instashare 2) Cloud based device management Cloud messaging broadcast system Cloud based account system (allowing connection to cloud storage platforms) If you'd like to know more or have any questions, just let me know.- 13 replies
