  1. We live in such a turmoil world.. things go wrong.. at the end of the day that is why 99% of us have jobs.. because users need supporting and things go wrong. As a Trust IT Manager.... people in our schools tend to see me.. when things have gone past the normal day to day support/gone wrong!. Someone is unhappy and the CEO himself is making efforts to reach out to follow up with people.. and you're saying that is a bad pitch...? I'm sure if i did a search.. you would find multiple posts from the early days where people moaned that Schools Broadband didn't communicate.. now you're upset they are!.. To be clear.. look at my posts.. I'm the first to moan when Schools Broadband mess up.... but on this occasion I think the fact the CEO is reachable is amazing stuff.. I wish the same could be done for E Safety 4 Schools.. I can't get past the apprentice! TLDR: If you're going to rant about a company on a public forum.. don't then make it sound bad when the CEO is then trying to reach out to follow up and do right by you!
  2. We have recently deploy a fleet of 350 laptops for the primary school staff in our trust. We have deployed them with Windows 11. Anything new we buy, Windows 11 goes on. We haven't had any problems with it so far. Very happy.
  3. I started with using KeePass. Hard to beat it for value for money. But I found it annoying having to use a laptop and not being able to get passwords online / via a mobile or tablet. So we invested in BitWarden Enterprise.
  4. This is way overdue.. That being said.. I think Apple using the lightning port forced others to actually innovate.. so I reckon it was a necessary evil. I can't see any technical reason why everyone shouldn't be using USB-C now though. Although I'd be interesting to know if the lightning ports do offer anything a USB-C doesn't if anyone knows?
  5. We are a trust of 22 schools and we are heavily invested in Senso. We are going for a Zero Trust environment, so I was pretty limited in options though. It has had it's ups and downs and I don't think it is worth investing in the Asset manager part if you are using Endpoint Manager, but for the most part it seems reliable these days. Support has improved a lot! I had an issue recently and I couldn't shake off the support guy, he couldn't have done more! I think he would have driven over to our office just to sit it through with me if I asked.. so I am impressed! We also got a new account manager who I'm pretty happy with too.
  6. Same here.. I have criticised SBB in the past.. can't fault them too much these days. Can't say many places where the CEO also replies to pretty much any edugeek or email post..

  9. Yeah - we are going through this pain at the moment. Really annoying to be honest!
  10. Still having issues with Kyocera. We are slowly moving over to Canon and they are not having any issues.
  11. I'm very lucky to earn a healthy living. But even I have made some recent changes. We now make lunches for work, which has had a huge impact on money, and we also now shop at Aldi, rather than the combination of Asda, Morrisons and the Co-Op. I was spending £5 per day on lunch - now get dinners and lunch for the week for £60 a week. I have also enrolled in the work Salary sacrifice scheme, where I can get an electric car - so that will save me the fuel money.
  12. The little I remember of using Corero... is the support is about as useful as a rock. Maybe they are just busy! Sorry I can't help!
  13. Hi all, This job is still available. Any questions please let me know! Matt

  18. Rather surprised people think Uniflow is complex and Papercut isn't.. I have used both and I find uniflow almost too simple... papercut isn't complicated by any means.. but I also don't think Uniflow is! We have Canon machines and Uniflow.. but that is partly as it is the only system that supports Zero Trust printing. It has been amazing for us and the way it works with Endpoint Manager / Intune.
  19. If you have a good working relationship with your supplier, you could give them a few must haves - and ask what they can get you for the money you have available. AMC, we use Dan - 01536 526687 has been helpful with things like that in the past for us, and he has often done it at cost if it is something for one of the IT crew. Obviously make sure you get one more quote to make sure they are actually not flogging you a dead horse!
  20. I know it sounds silly.. but try swapping them two rules around at the top.. so it is saying if the sender is a member of students group and the recipient is external.. then do the following.
  21. I have to admit, I was pretty critical at the beginning of the scheme, but then I did get 90 odd GeoBooks... However more recently, we got 300 ipads and 110 dell laptops. The ipads, no complaints there! Then the laptops are not great.. but they are better than the geobooks! So overall.. I'm pretty pleased with what we got!
  22. Had no idea Sophos did wireless... Doing a bit of research, it doesn't look like they do there own wifi and they rebrand some Astaro kit?.. please fact check that - it was literally a 5 minute google! If that is true, then my instant thoughts are look for a vendor where the kit is actually made themselves.. Ruckus, Meru, Ubiquiti etc. It also looks like Sophos use a subscription model. Not a huge fan of them! But that is just me!
  23. I feel like a Microsoft employee with my defence here.. but I disagree with part one... Intune has many policies to make a device a shared device. The enrolling of own devices is a route you can take.. but also, you can have fully managed, where you as the tech enrol the device for them.
  24. I definitely don't agree it is a broken product. I have been using it for a couple years successfully and we are currently enrolling over 350 new staff laptops in it. Working great for us and our trust. What I would say is people really need to put some time to make sure they are doing the research before they move over to Intune. As I said on another thread, printing is one of the biggest headaches with Intune - you need to nail down how you are going to host your printing in a way that Intune is compatible. Ideally you need a cloud managed printing soloution. I also think, people want some elements of cloud, and others of on-site. Intune is fully cloud product, I do not believe it is meant to hybrid setups. For example I know some schools who want to connect local file shares to an intune enrolled device. Possible... but not ideal. Personally I want that - I am moving full steam ahead to cloud, and therefore I don't want Intune wasting there time on Hybrid stuff. But i can appreciate not everyone would have that drive, and want it to work remotely. Each to there own. When I see the word Intune / Endpoint Manager on edugeek, it does tend to catch my eye, and I will try share what knowledge I have to help those trying to move to Endpoint Manager and having problems.
