Force Logoff if user group polices are not applied.
Wubbalubbadub replied to Mattjstmarys's topic in Windows 10
You could also look into lockable network cables.. but also.. this is clearly a classroom management problem. -
If you want an "Oven ready" option, then look at getting one of these to help: G-Cloud 12 - CCS (crowncommercial.gov.uk) Everything ICT | ICT Procurement Framework | DfE Recommended They are DfE approved for tenders and procurement. They presumably get a commission from the winning incumbent, and so doesn't cost you anything. We went through Everything ICT, who were pretty good and made it easier. In terms of advice, when you get your scoring sheet from the provider - be very particular on what you want removed. AKA.. if you don't have a catering system - then be sure to remove the catering system from the scoring sheet. Hope this helps!

We are a large trust of 21 schools, and are now at the final stage of the procurement process. We will be giving notice to SIMS/ESS next week. I honestly can't wait!

Senso.cloud alternatives - Had enough
Wubbalubbadub replied to TheRobins's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I admit that Senso have had a few issues... but I wouldn't say it was bad enough to warrant leaving just yet. I still remember the Impero days of problems.. nothing like that. However I have not tried Impero for about 3 years now. -
I thought the SCCM licence came with an SQL full licence too?

Unless you were buying in the large qty.. say around 300-400 units, then I don't think your spec is possible for around that price. Maybe for 5-600.

Dovecomms - https://www.dovecomms.co.uk/ Can't fault them to be honest. Really good prices and always go above and beyond.

When are you planning to move your school(s) to Windows 11?
Wubbalubbadub replied to localzuk's topic in Windows 11
We just invested in 350 laptops for staff. So I asked dell to send them with windows 11. May as well save ourselves the job. I will also deploy windows 11 on any new kit that arrives. Otherwise I'm just setting us up to do more work in the future. So far, even the dock seems to be accepted more than I thought it would. We have loads of legacy kit across our schools, so I guess it will be as we replace. Hopefully in a couple years we will have most things replaced and on windows 11. -
I'm all for fair procurement. They obviously don't feel something went fair to feel they have a case! But how can they survive this from a PR perspective is bewildering! Bad timing too, with the ESS mess, I hope this doesn't put off any trusts or schools from moving MIS.

Or the fear of being sued! [emoji1787]

I would be so disappointed if a school actually moved back to SIMS..

Excess Construction Charges
Wubbalubbadub replied to Mrpower's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
10K! That explains why I feel lucky with no ECC's coming up on my orders then! :DThanks, Dave! -
New MFD/Copiers - what are your thoughts on these devices.......
Wubbalubbadub replied to mdrabble's topic in Hardware
I have used Kyocera's - can't stand them. We are moving over to canon's. -
Excess Construction Charges
Wubbalubbadub replied to Mrpower's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Very normal and most suppliers are very clear about this. As others have said, you do have the right to reject the ECC's and cancel the order with no penalty. I've been lucky. I have placed 10 leased line orders and so far not incurred any ECC's over the supplier limits. From my understanding Virgin media cover up to 5k ECC's, whereas BT only cover 2.5k. So it might actually be worth asking your vendor to try the survey with Virgin Media carrying the leased line.. Hope this helps. -
Cashless Catering - Who would everyone recommend?
Wubbalubbadub replied to Nblakey96's topic in Hardware
I used Cunninghams for a long while. The support and pricing are horrendous and really leave a bitter taste in your mouth! I haven't ever used a different provider. I would hope there are better ones by now! -
Thanks, all. I went with Sophos in the end.

Has anyone used Heimdal AV before? We are looking at a trust wide agreement and the decision is between Sophos intercept X or Heimdal. Heimdal have come back with a very good proposal, so I'm curious if people are using it in the real world? Thanks Heimdal Security - Proactive Cyber Security Software

Morning everyone, For any of you following: Schools Broadband - feedback please (edugeek.net) I have figured out - if you phone support, and select option 2 - broadband connectivity and speed issues - you get put through to the outsourced team in South Africa. Nice enough, but seem to have zero technical ability and just log your ticket and pass it on. Press option 3 - Puts you through to the normal friendly team in Leeds who are super helpful! Hopefully that helps someone!
