  1. Morning everyone Did anyone else try and claim service credit for last weeks outage on Monday? I tried and i got: "Hi Matthew, Apologies for the disruption to service during Monday 24/02/20 for the following schools: School1 School2 School3 School4 School5 School6 It is our intention to provide a service that fits the requirements for all our customers, but unfortunately the reported issue is not covered by an outage SLA, The issue has been classified as a degradation to service, an investigation to determine the root cause is being conducted to determine reasons. This will be documented and issued by our NOC Team. Regards" I replied stating that a total loss of service isn't degraded.. it is a total loss of service. Any other thoughts?
  2. You're within your rights to refuse.. but honestly.. why? They just want to send you your payslips!
  3. A way around this, is to open notepad as administrator, and then click open from within the programme and navigate to the connect.ini file. Weirdly i was doing this last thing today!
  4. AHahahahahah. This made me laugh out loud! Would love to say this to someone!
  5. We tried this on 1909 and seem to have a bug where the Other User in the bottom right doesn't come back. Little hit and miss on some machines, but a still a bit odd.
  6. All of our team here have Surface Book's! I don't think i could ever go back. The two batteries make these things last forever!!!! Plus once you get a dock to just wack in.. mmmm
  7. Side tracking from your question, but can i ask what VMware offers that Hyper-V doesn't? Genuinely don't understand what it offers over Hyper-V! That being said, that is just from reading! I haven't used it for years!
  8. Morning all If you still have the logs issue, they do have a work around now. If you put in the "diagnostics" filter and then put your nsw number in the search box, you can then use the logs.
  9. I have just logged a call and been told they are currently looking at the issue. Hopefully wont be long!
  10. Where is he when you need him...
  11. Some people need a cold hard reality check! At the end of the day, if they have suspicions don't appoint them as a governor! Until then.. some professional trust wouldn't go a miss!
  12. Governor outrank headteacher.. Why on earth is it an issue that they can see the school directory!..

  14. After EXTENSIVE testing and swapping i ended up on: https://www.supportpal.com These were my findings on the others: Spiceworks on-site: Good but i needed external access and i didnt want to open up my internal domain. Also a bit clunky at times Spiceworks hosted: Also good, and very close! But somewhat buggy and also hosted outside EU. Zendesk: Missing certain tools, and cost ended up being pretty high Freshdesk: Above (If Zendesk and Freshdesk merged together it would be a perfect soloution tbh...) Plumsail: I very much liked the sharepoint intergration, but the cost was somewhat high for what it was, the support was also not very effective - given they are in russia, the time difference was a killer. Also given it was hosted in Sharepoint, it meant sites not within our tenancy were hard to manage / make tickets for. Support pal has a nice pricing model (Pay once) and i wacked it in an external web server we host outside the school via go-daddy for other sites that we host. Hope this helps. Matt

  16. No classroom printers would be my recommendation. If you really have no other choice though.. one of the EPSON Workforce models. Really good value for money, they are reliable and seem to last forever on toners!
  17. Try giving AMC a call, we use Danny - 01536 513 679, i'm sure when we got a quote for monitors, the 19" were more expensive. So if you get get a quote from them that shows that, the governor can't moan then.!
  18. Is the governor 98!? Put a 19 inch monitor infront of him and get him to have more than just one app on the screen. Also, surely the cost difference is minor?
  19. I do think that it's important to note that @SchoolsBroadband are using technology that not many others are. Aren't they one of the few, if not the only one that offer in-line filtering from Netsweeper? Also, from someone who looks after 12 schools, having to deal with a variety of ISP's, Schools Broadband is the only one where i can "usually" phone up and get a change put through there and then, or even do it myself. This is a god-send when i get a phone call at 8:00am from a phone engineer wanting me to unblock some ports for SIP, which no one told me about! RM - takes on average 3 weeks per change - I genuinely have to tell the engineer to head home and wait for us to get back to them! EMPSN - 3-5 days, sometimes quicker if you get the right guy. They are also the only ISP that offers service credit for outages. So just make sure you are submitting them when you do have issues. Although i don't think it's really what motivates the teams at Schools Broadband (having met them), the service credit requests will be some more motive to make sure it remains stable. Matt
  20. Hi Matt Lloyds commercial banking here, and yes it's pretty slow here during peak hours. That being said, not horrendously slow.. Hope this helps. A fellow Matt.
  21. What a post... Sorry but No. Your home server is not more secure or better value for money than Office 365.
  22. I'm genuinely tempted to block this site, just to avoid being asked to set a projector up for it.. Whats wrong with a clock!!
  23. I know this isn't what you want to hear.. but for my own curiosity, why don't you want to migrate to office 365? This scenario is pretty much bread and butter for a situation to migrate to office 365...
  24. Never heard of Outlook accessing a gmail client to cause problems? Outlook is just a client, GMail doesn't care what connects to it. I have accessed my personal GMail through outlook for years.
