You’re having slow downs and that’s without CCTV of VoIP!? You running on cat 5 (100mb)? All your switches fibre (1gb) ? I’m not saying don’t VLAN here by the way.. just genuinely surprised! I have a flat network, with VOIP.. but then I also have 10gb links to each switch, and I also have a complete separate network for my CCTV.

More on the prevent side: In my experience I have found that “clean” hardware is better looked after. I make a real point in replacing any keyboard / mouse that even has one key missing or keys coloured in.. it gives the impression that it’s “new” and “looked after” in turn this has meant our vandalism has been very limited. I have a set of laptops that are falling apart (not much I can do about them), as such they vandalise that set of laptops. I’m making a point of letting them destroy them until there are not any left...

I think that’s disgusting! Personally I would strip out the system and buy a cheap sign in book!

This! When it comes to printers... I don’t want to venture further than checking it has paper.. and if that fails, make a phone call! Bursar was more than happy when we got rid of all the printers, and I Reduced the consumables budget from 5K to £0 !

Some HR women in another school.. I’m being sent on a training course and in return, I’ll be that schools DPO. Gives us both an on-site DPO knowing person and covers the law.. I’m actually pretty happy with it to be honest! Even if it is a cluster f***k of policies and paperwork.. the word “data map” makes me shudder!

So.. on this topic.. what else is there to manage consent? I am doing everything I can to avoid sending out sheets of paper!

I don't usually have much praise towards Schools Broadband. But in this case, this was dealt with quickly and effectively! So thanks for that Dave!

Yeah - apparently it was an issue with filter 14 / 16. They have moved me to a different filter. Backup again now. I suspect they have moved everyone away from the filter.

I got the standard "No problem on the router, try a re-boot and if that doesn't work we will log a call with the supplier" Did you get any more insightful information?

You need to add the user to the security option of each account Ie.. to maths, English, science. Can be a long process depending on how many accounts you have
