Sharing DPO Role with GDPR
Wubbalubbadub replied to Wubbalubbadub's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I found this, today. https://ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/advice-service-for-small-organisations/ I phoned and asked them the question and they said: "ideally you would find someone with no conflict of interested, however if that is your best option then there is nothing in the legislation that restricts you from doing that" -
Sharing DPO Role with GDPR
Wubbalubbadub replied to Wubbalubbadub's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Interesting views.. certainly something I think could do with some clarification -
As i'm sure most of you are, i am looking heavily into the GDPR changes coming in May. I have been in contact with a member of the governing body about it too. I was speaking to a colleague today about it, and they presumed it was something that would come under the "network manager" role. I explained that this is classed as a "conflict of interest" and so i would not be able to fullfill the role. However the colleague had a point which i had not examined. Could the DPO be job shared between two colleagues. IE.. Can the network manager be the primary DPO, and someone else be a secondary DPO for the IT side of things... I said it seemed a bit hodgey - podgy and typing it, is making me question my sanity in even asking.. but thought i would throw it to the forums and see what you think...

Morning All I have recently been deploying centralised printing here at my school. Few bumps.. however most now ironed out. The last issue i am having now, however is with Google Chrome and its printer management. Google Chrome seems to pick what settings it likes for the printer (sets the DPI at 300, non duplex etc..) which is causing people to think that the printers are crap.. If they print from any other programme or ie.. it uses windows printer management and everything is fine.. So my questions are; A: Can i get google Chrome print management to beep off.. and just use windows? B: Get google chrome to pickup the printer settings from windows rather than telling me to beep off? Thanks Matt

Wubbalubbadub replied to DJ-1701's topic in Windows 10
On a serious note.. Where is it!? When will it show on my VLSC?? It is half term here! Would love to deploy an updated image! -
I have recently started experiencing this issue for my users. Did you find out what it was?

The school i'm currently at, has always put a desktop in every room that needs one. We don't even offer staff laptops.. If you are looking to save money, then this is the best way!

Windows 10 - Start Menu Redirection - very strange issue
Wubbalubbadub replied to Wubbalubbadub's topic in Windows 10
So i have looked in event viewer and it shows as applying the policy correctly and says successful. However it still doesnt show the redirected start menu. However with further testing, i have found that if i make a change to the redirected start menu (add or delete a shortcut), then it suddenly does appear! Im guessing no one has any insight on this, (going from the lack of replies). So i will keep posting encase someone else has this issue! -
So I tried using app locker and it still seems to run! [emoji35]

Windows 10 - Start Menu Redirection - very strange issue
Wubbalubbadub replied to Wubbalubbadub's topic in Windows 10
anyone!? :-( Im currently about to throw my computer out of the window! -
Morning all, So i have bit the bullet and put Windows 10 (1703) on a small group of machines (15). I was losing hope and with it just being in my test environment, i just kept going back to the though of, "well windows 7 works". Now that it is live, i am a bit more motivated to sort out all the issues. Which i have thankfully done! Except 1! I have 1 last issue that is causing me hassle, then i am there! Start menu redirection! For some reason, when a student logs into the machine, the start menu is not there. But when they log out and back in, it redirects fine! It is such a strange issue! Anyone had this? Any ideas!?
-
I too am having the windows update issue on windows 10 (1703) I am also having an issue, where the start menu redirection doesn't work on first login. But it does on the second login? Any ideas!?
-
I can certainly try! So far no luck though! new user logs in and there it is! So annoying!
-
I can't get rid of it no matter what i do. It also allows students to send prints directly to the printers, which means they can circumvent papercut! What logic to microsoft have having things like this deploying to educational versions!? Madness!
-
Anyone else got an issue with HP AiO remote print app being installed on windows 10 automatically? No matter what i seem to do, it just re-appears for the user when they login.
-
I will give the Nlite package ago. I have it installed now, just trying to work out what i should actually remove! Anyone got any guides / tips? If not ill use intuition!

I phoned Impero and quoted the reference number that Mic from Impero has listed. Apparantly they know about the bug. Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

I do have Impero! So possibly? Any links to some open conversations with this?
