  1. Nevermind, still has the text problem... Missing text
  2. This is what mine looks like! But a reboot doesnt change that! It still looks the same!
  3. I have just tried that now, and it does work by removing the apps via DISM. However the issue i have now is, the user gets all the apps with weird writing on the start menu! Matt
  4. Afternoon all, I am losing my mind now with Windows 10. It just seems determined to beat me down! I'm a day or two away from calling it a day and sticking to 7. I use MDT deployment, so i have been creating an "golden image" which consists of; - Windows 10 Education (1703) - Silverlight - All windows updates - I have used the popular windows 10 decrappifier script to remove all the apps i dont want. It leaves the store app and calculator app only. ( https://community.spiceworks.com/scripts/show/3977-windows-10-decrapifier-version-2 ) - I then sysprep the image (Which takes about 20 minutes for some reason) However It seems that even when i repeat the same steps every time i get a random outcome when i then deploy the image! First issue: It seemed i got some text missing. Icons were showing with no text below them. - After a bit of research it appeared that i had to go into control panel for fonts and click download all fonts for this language. So i created the same image, but with the fonts this time. Problem no2 - Sysprep now wont complete. just crashes. - Re-create the image again, same steps. Now syspreps. Problem no3 - Now when it images, the machines just hang on "getting ready" and doesnt complete. I have done some basic searching and from what i can gather, it is because i removed the apps. which means that windows 10 can't auto provision them anymore, which causes the startup to hang. All i want to do, is create a windows 10 image that doesnt have the crap that kids will just play around with!? I have always been one who wants to push new technology and platforms, but this windows 10 is really beating me! Anyone got any ideas?
  5. With that pupil count, i would say a leased line is a must.. Are you looking for web filtering too? Some companies offer cloud services for that. IE.. schools broadband. But I would avoid them at the moment!
  6. I asked the supplier i use at AMC, how much he charges. He told me £139. Give him a ring.. 01536 513 679 His name is Danny - but you get 10% off if you call him D-Dog.
  7. noticed i put the wrong date on my post! any admin can change that?
  8. Some woes this morning, for those that cant get through the phones! They suffered a DDOS attack, and are currently trying to repair! Phones are at the call hold limits, so can't get through at the moment! I phoned our account manager, he said we should be back up and running, but speeds will be slow!
  9. KB4015217 https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4015217/windows-10-update-kb4015217
  10. I know this may sound obvious, but have you done all the updates on the 2016 server? Looking through the known Server 2016 bugs, there was a bug that described that exact issue on server 2016. However it was fixed in the April 11th Cumulative update?
  11. I have had a quick google on this, as we have recently changed to a full 2016 domain controller setup. Ours seem to be fine so far! But from what i can see, it was also an issue in 2012R2, whenever the server had to deal with LDAP queries. Is the DC being used for any external LDAP? or SSO? Which DC held your FSMO roles? Was it the one you upgraded or the 2008 R2 one? I would also check sites and services and make sure they are replicating fine? This thread is for someone having the same issue, with 2012R2. Might be worth a read: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9f3a1f57-38bd-480c-aa17-719a635f4086/changing-zone-replication-lsassexe-crashing-and-dc-rebooting?forum=winserver8gen
  12. HOW?! I keep making an EDU build and it is missing photoviewer!?
  13. I also have this issue. I am still struggling with the start menu, so just added it to the loooooong list of issues with Windows 10! Hopefully someone with a bit more time on Windows 10, has found out why it does this?
  14. I would start on the start menu.. Once you have that working i would say it is pretty simple from there on. I feel dumb for saying this, but i havn't made seperate GPO's for win 10 machines.. so far, every policy that had the effect on windows 7, carried onto 10. Its only a few win 10 specific things i had to add to the old win 7 GPO's. For example the "we are glad you are here, screen" I have resided myself to not deploying any kind of start menu to staff, and as the ones above me said. I have now rolled 10 out, to a few key staff that i know will give me some good feedback. So far it has been recieved well! Once i feel happy enough with the staff ones, i will finish deploying to the staff.
  15. Give the guy a call. If you tell him what brand you have, he can probably tell you. The only thing is, you have to let them pickup the item. So if you have limited revals, you may need to send one of at a time!
  16. Thank you so much! I literally blew a gasket when he mentioned the £395 price tag. I have just phoned your contact. Lovely guy and he was most helpful! He even said they used to work with Cunninghams! Can we promote this please! So no schools get scammed by Cunninghams!
  17. Sat browsing the forums before heading back to work on the 4th... we successfully used the software for our Mocks... our exams manager loves it. I have set group policy to automatically open the app when they login, so it has also meant so much less work for us! The only comment the exam officer has was, would it be possible to get page breaks when they start a new page, or someway of seeing how many pages they have typed?
  18. I got this on Friday.. I'll have to see what I can find!
  19. I would second all of this apart from i would say the customer service is a bit hit and miss and not always bad. I have been having speed issues since Friday, depending on who i get on the other end depends on the service i get.. and to what fault i am experiencing.. Since Friday my fault has been one of the following; - Congenstion issue - Someone internally is using all the bandwidth - Latency issues found - We cant see any problem - Problem with external supplier - NNI issue I could give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it is a combination of all of these!? Surely? Maybe.. hmm....
  20. I have been getting speed issues since last Friday.. numerous phone calls and no one seems to know what is going on!
  21. Show your festivities people.. this is our office this morning!
  22. Sorry to be blunt, but you are upset that i used a "naughty word" but you are happy for me to spend £10,000+ of mine & yours tax money on broadband that is slower than my £25 a month virgin line? Sorry, but a rant is sometimes needed and yes, on a forum i believe it is sometimes appropriate..
  23. I AM SICK OF THIS!!! OVER 100 PING AGAIN! 2-5MB Speeds...
  24. Not sure if this is really the correct place to post this, so feel free to move it! Does anyone know the legalities of allowing Netflix? I was a bit hasty in just wanting to get it sorted.. and unblocked Netflix for staff. They are streaming something to the students.. looks like a series. Anyone know the legalities of this? Thanks in advance!
  25. Definitely wasn't internal. They confirmed the packet loss on their end. Seems ok this morning..
