  1. Time to Panic buy Worcester sauce and Worcester sauce flavoured crisps.
  2. Hi tom I had fun wrestling with Smoothwall certificates and iPads. Just a thought, as this sum times clears up some browser issues on iPads. Clear the cache in safari and restart safari. Might work, might not.
  3. Hi all I have 50% of a teams room setup (Logitech Meetup & Logitech Tap) and I am waiting for a Lenovo teams room PC (Due October 4th). I was wondering while I am waiting, others, Teaching staff, will be banging on my door wondering why they can't use the Teams room. Can I setup another PC that I have sitting round as the temporary Team Room PC? Or a helpful website telling how to setup a random PC as a teams room PC.
  4. Our finance managers PC once in a while has the top bar of applications missing. Programs such as Acrobat & Google chrome. They have a two screen setup using an intel inboard GPU, rather than a Graphics card. Restarting the video buffer with SHIFT + CTRL+ WIN + B worked to fix the issue this morning. I was wondering would a proper graphics card solve the issue out right or is this a weird windows bug.
  5. I having this issue on a Synology RS618 NAS. I posted a support ticket in their system. They, so far, have been as helpful as a chocolate tea pot. Their last communication they ask me to create a test folder with txt, doc, pages file and docx documents to see if this was happening with every type of file. I managed to trigger the bug by using AFP and MS word. Then I noticed if I copied the file off the server on to my desktop. the file became read write again, saved some changes, then moved the file back to the server. over wrote the original file, the file was then read write again. For me the bug maybe with AFP (nope apple has not deprecated so far) and MS word (any version) creating temp files with read only bugs, which become the new file when saved. Temp files / folders seem to be culprits here. I will still need to do some testing to see if the bug returns or workaround solves it in the short term.
  6. Our headteacher had an email about the project back in feb. You might want to check with them or check the junk mail folder.
  7. Tried that and they did not work with Google LDAP. Tried everything still did not work. Not sure how legal OpenCore patcher is.
  8. Now waiting on a site survey and start date and hardware order, o, and, three day left of the term.
  9. I have moved some of our Mac's over to Google LDAP, the only draw back, is that it works on OSX 10.15 and above. Great if you have new Macs. Bad if you still have old Mac's that only run 10.13, like me. boo.
  10. Sorry, I was not sure if I had made a forum post about this bug or not. Thanks for reminding me. I had tested this issue across three different computers and a separate server. What I discovered is across SMB mapped drives the problem pops its head up on a Mac running MS Word 16.66.7 under OSX 10.13. Both the Mac and windows 10 computer with latest MS word, were informed the file was read only. When I reconnected to the file on the OSX 10.13 computer through apple AFP networking protocol, then resaved the file, the read error disappeared. Hence why I am thinking the bug might have something to do with SMB and AFP, but if MS word is the problem. Well, I will have to regularly reset the permissions on the server. I will have a look at the above links.
  11. Hi All I am not sure if this is a bug in SMB and APF networking or Microsoft Word. Staff have been reporting word docx that magically change their permissions after someone has open and saved the file. The permissions on the NAS Synology drive are correct for everyone read and write etc... But once a teacher edits a file and saves, they become read only to everyone, including the editor. Also I am talking Macs running at least three different versions of MS word. I usually change the permissions in the NAS drive then staff can edit again. Which is a pain. The newest version of MS word does not seem to be affected by the bug, just earlier versions. I have asked support at Synology to look at the NAS to see if the NAS is the culprit. But my tests seem to point to MS Word. I have tested using SMB and AFP to see if there is an issue there. My results showed no real networking bug to speak of.
  12. Hello all Our business manager has 4 accounts on their outlook, and for some reason the licence account for 365 keeps changing to a different non-licensed account. Which created a bug were it keeps telling the user the account is being managed by another device. Which is true for at least 2 of the accounts, which are on two other computers. those computers (Mac) are not showing this issue. I think this is just a bug with this version of office and an update should solve the problem also an OS update as well. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue? I have used a reset software to reset the licence and re-licence again, which seems to have solved the problem for the moment.
  13. Another idea, open Utilities / Activity Monitor and set it to CPU, try a restart and see if a running program crashes or has red writing next to the program. Alternative use "top" in terminal and it should show everything running and also might show a programming crashing. It does show programs sleeping and programs stuck, so it might show a program not responding.
  14. Use to have a login / logout script that course a similar issue requiring a force shutdown / reboot. Have you checked in Utilities / Console for crash logs or just logs in general. Dose the Mac after reboot have a pop-up saying the Mac was restarted before a program ended, or something similar? You could boot into safe mode and see if the issue returns. How to boot into safe mode https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac You could rebuild and install MDM and anti-virus, one at a time to see what might be coursing the issue.
  15. 3rd vote for Mosyle. can be a bit slow at times, but, dose the job very well.
