Morning all, we have some old RM Finance files that we need to look at but cannot find an installer for RM Finance to be able to do so. Have any of you got an old installer saved we could try please? RM Support just keep telling us its not supported and want to sell us the cloud version. Much appreciated thanks!

Hello, Has anyone gone ahead with plans to launch a new MIS and/or Finance system during the C19 disruption? We were planning to complete our procurement but we are now concerned if the training/change management is too much of a risk during this time? Would be good to understand any experiences (positive and negative) if anyone has tried? Many thanks

We are reviewing: https://www.capita-sims.co.uk/products-and-services/sims-finance Are any schools deploying / using this now? Very grateful of you could let me know! Ben

Can any FMS experts help me with a query I have been asked about: One of our Schools has 3 Funds set up. The decision has been made to only use Fund 01 going forward. Most of expenditure for this year has been coded to Fund 01 on this basis. However, they have continued to input income into the 3 separate Funds as they have in previous years (using Fund to Bank journals). As we approach Year End the School would like to know if this will affect anything - do they need to move any of this income from Funds 02 and 03 into 01? If so what is the best way to do this?

Hi, we are having an issue here with Sage where we can't specify who each order gets delivered to? So at the moment since moving over the finance team are having to direct deliveries manually, they have spoke to the helpline but were told it's not possible yet which i really can't believe. Any one able to offer any insight? Any help hugely appreciated (On behalf of the finance team) Thanks, Simon

20 years in IT education sector helping others on here, and never once had to ask for help until meeting this software. We have recently absorbed a school which used this software prior to joining our multi academy and due to a recent malware attack the installed files have become encrypted with no backup. Of cause nobody on site has a copy of the original install files and we are now no longer in contract as we have moved to different software, so no help from them. We no longer use the software but do need to access the old data. Does anyone have a copy of the res32000 installed directory they would kindly donate to help a fellow techie? I don't know the version number all I can see is the filenames, but at this stage I am happy to try anything.

Afternoon, I have asked Finance to look at Ebay for a while now. I want to buy and sell for the school... legitimately. They are not keen! I have told Finance that loads of schools seem to be able to buy/sell on Ebay .. but there maybe some that aren't permitted for whatever reason. We use Amazon Business and Finance are happy with how that works, but they think ebay is different and don't comply with our processes or something. Is there anyone here who uses Ebay for this purpose and have passed Finance audits whilst doing so? If so, can someone let me know how the process works, from your perspective, with maybe a view to someone in Finance contacting your Finance at some stage if it's viable? Appreciate any help.

Hi, We're looking at moving MIS, hopefully we can ditch CMIS but I've run into some issues. It seems most MIS packages don't come with Finance Packages and those that do support some third party packages, quite often don't do HR/Payroll or they require a third package for it. Is this normal? With CMIS it did everything, and while I've had my issues with it, it seems it does a pretty good job considering what else is out there. So far we really like the look of Bromcom, we've yet to see the Finance side but I've just had confirmation that they do not do HR/Payroll. I was just wondering what other schools have done when moving away from either Sims or CMIS which have built in or optional extras for Finance & HR/Payroll. Would appreciate any extra info that can be provided. Cheers, Alex Anglesey Primary School

Hi, We are looking to rollout 1:1 tablet at our school starting from next year. We will most likely get the tablets for Year 7 and 10 students to start with but this hasn't been finalised yet. We are also considering giving tablets to our teachers(with dock) for better mobility. I have started researching on the models available out there so that I can shortlist the ones which will suit us best. MS Surface/Pro and Dell are on the top of my list. Once shortlisted, I am planning to get them to send out couple of units to us so that we could evaluate them before making a decision. I would like some recommendations on which tablets/specs will suit best for teachers and students. Another important decision we have to make is on financing the devices. Being a small school we do not have the funds available to purchase them from our budget. My preference is to buy them outright and get the parents to pay an annual ICT levy which covers the cost of the devices and software as this makes it much easier to manage them from IT perspective. However, our business manager is reluctant to use this model and wants the parents to buy the devices directly from the vendor/supplier so that we do not have to deal with any money matters. I can imagine all the mess and management headache it will create and I am also unsure how I will deploy OS and applications on the devices. Moreover, if they are student owned, we may not be able to install some of them due to licensing restrictions. I would like to know if others have been in a similar situation to us and what have they done so that it is a win-win for everyone. Thanks

Has anyone experienced problems with the PSFInancials packge especially the Licence service eating RAM and not responding for 2mins or more? GRUMPY by name, nice guy by nature!!!

Our finance officer is wondering about this. Since we have updated to 6.104, a column has appeared under Unauthorised invoices which shows the letters F and T and yellow warning triangles next to the T's. She's been unable to figure out what they mean, can anyone provide any light on the subject?

Within the confines of IT, I can terminate network cables, code in several programming languages and maintain a network of computers... but when it comes to money, the extent of my knowledge is essentially limited to "money goes into bank, I spend some of it, and the balance decreases." I would like to save for a holiday which will cost a fair chunk of money, and am wondering which is the best and most financially-rewarding method to do this. I've done a bit of searching and think I could be looking for a cash ISA, or a regular savings account with an interest rate of about 6%. I certainly won't be saving more than £3,600 a year. But I just don't know enough to make a decision. Any knowledgeable Edugeekers able to help or point me in the right direction please? Thanks in advance, Craig.
