Is anyone else having trouble buying apps on the Apple Volume License Store? I can sign in with the Facilitator account and search for an app but when I clicked on it, it just loads a blank page. I've tried in Safari, Chrome and Firefox and it does the same.

The last I heard (from Apple support) was that it's not possible to do in-app purchases through VPP. Their advice was to contact the app developer to ask them to make a full version of the app that can be bought outright, rather than having to buy from within the app which doesn't work for schools, as we know.

How did you get on? It's hard to give advice on what to show them if you don't know what they already know.

Our school is much smaller (only 10 classrooms) but we have had similar problems with iPads connecting via AirServer. Sometimes it works great, other times it doesn't pick up the classroom PC.

Basically, redemption codes are used when you're trying to install paid apps. You can install as many free apps as you like and Configurator will install them without the need for any codes. Paid apps are purchased through the online Volume License store- Apple (United Kingdom) - iPad in Education - IT - Volume Purchase Programme You specify how many copies of that app you need and then pay. A few minutes later it generates a spreadsheet containing the codes. Use one code to 'Redeem' the app in iTunes, go back to your VPP account and re-download the spreadsheet to regain that code back. Go to Configurator and when it asks for those codes, you simply import the spreadsheet.

The response I got from Apple support was something along the lines of- "You can't. You need to contact the app developer to ask them to make a paid app instead of using in-app purchasing"

We don't really have any other work to take off the iPads. If we're making an iMovie then we'll make sure each group uses the same iPad each lesson until they are finished and then export it to the camera roll. We don't use them for word processing/publishing as we have a brand new ICT suite and laptops for that type of thing. We have over 100 apps on each iPad, split into different curriculum folders but the vast majority of apps do not need us to export anything.

We also use Apple Configurator but we only have 16 iPads so it's not so bad to manage. We copy any photos/videos off using the Simple Transfer app and then it's deleted from the device to free up space for the next class.

Good morning, Does anyone know what the deal is with putting music on a school set of iPads? We've got 16 iPads and have been using them quite happily, managing the apps via Apple Configurator and using the Volume License Store to download paid apps. We now have an app called Video Star which allows you to import songs you already own. But seeing as the volume license store doesn't have music, I'm assuming you just have to buy the music with the school's iTunes account and transfer it to each iPad?

No, I don't see the point of using passcodes in school.

FIX- I was still getting the same error when trying to update iTunes from 11.1 to 11.1.1 and when trying to import an app into Configurator 1.4. I decided to download iTunes 11.1.1 from the website instead. Everything is working again now.

I don't know if there's a proper fix for it yet. I just open the download window in iTunes and cancel any downloads I don't need.

Still getting this error today. I had a quick google and saw others have had the same issue but they suggested it was a problem with the Apple servers and it resolved itself.

Not recently, I don't think. I'm running iTunes 11.1 at the moment. If I try to update to 11.1.1 I get an error saying- "An error has occurred. The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error - 1012.)"

I'm trying to import one free app (appoLearning) into Configurator 1.4 but I keep getting the error message- Unable to import app "appoLearning 1.3.3". Unable to communicate with the iTunes Store. I've tried closing Configurator and reopening- no luck. I've tried rebooting the Mac- no luck. I've checked the internet connection and I've loaded iTunes and can access all areas of the store no problem. It's weird because it was working last week and suddenly this morning it's broken, but I haven't changed a single thing! Anyone else had this problem?

I also have an HTC One. Had it for a few months and love it. Great build quality, amazing speakers (for a phone), amazing screen and it's always very smooth to use, no lag at all.

The iQ 32 sync & charge cart. It can't be carried though, it's a trolley on wheels.

Well, you're missing out then. There's some brilliant maths, science and english apps.

We have over a hundred apps- Math Bingo, Beluga Maths, Quick Math, NASA, Solar Walk, Anatomy Browser, 3D Brain, Brushes 3, Duolingo, JamPad, Word Jigsaw, Skitch, Simple Transfer, Morfo....and many others!

I am liking the new features of Configurator 1.4. It's nice to see an itemised list of the updates as they are being carried out. So far, so good...

Actually, I'm answering my own question- you can keep iOS 6 if you select 'Never update device' from the drop down list which is found next to 'Update iOS:' in the Supervise section of Configurator.

Just finished installing Mountain Lion and Configurator 1.4. If I go to the Config. preferences, there's an option saying 'When a supervised device is connected: Automatically refresh'. If I uncheck this, will it then allow me to add new apps without having to update to iOS 7?

15 mins left on the Mountain Lion install...my next problem is that iOS 7 apparently needs at least 2.9GB free space to install. All of our iPads have about 1.7GB free. That's without having any photos/videos stored on them. Guess I'll have to get rid of some apps!

So one person is saying it's possible to keep iOS6 and someone else is saying the opposite?
