  1. Our school uses Chromebooks (Toshiba CB2) which have 4GB RAM but of course don't have much internal storage (but don't need it with Google Drive). They also don't convert to a tablet but we have iPads for that. It really depends what you want to use the devices for.
  2. What are the needs that the Learnpad Workbook doesn't meet?
  3. We had similar issues moving to Configurator 2. I had to get the guys who supply our broadband to allow the Mac completely unfiltered access to the internet. We previously did have all of the recommended domains added to our whitelist but it wouldn't work.
  4. Well for us, our Headteacher wanted it as locked down as possible and wanted our account name to be SIJS Learning. So I made an account with first name 'SIJS' and surname 'Learning', which worked for a couple of years. We then added parents as 'friends' so they could see our timeline. We have a private group now which all of the teachers use but when we post something it says my name instead of the name we'd prefer- SIJS Learning. Apart from that, it works well as a news feed.
  5. We created a fake user account to start with and it worked fine for a year or two until Facebook suspended the account the not being recognised as a real person, and because we couldn't upload proof of ID for the fake user, we had to give up on that idea. I then created an account in my own name and made a private group for our school. We add parents to that group so they can see the latest news but nobody else can. But it depends what you want to use your page/group for.
  6. Hi all, The list of apps which you see when adding apps using Configurator 2 are linked to VPP. Is there a way to delete some of those so they don't show in the list? Thanks, James
  7. Yeah, it's a welcome addition, but what I'd really like as an admin is a way to see and access ALL of the classes without needing to rely on the teachers to invite me.
  8. Hmm, maybe install an app like 'Simple Transfer' and get the pics off wirelessly? That's what we use at school.
  9. So you can see some of the photos? Just not the ones you've edited?
  10. Great. The saga continues...
  11. Just a quick update for anyone following this thread- I've now installed Sierra and tried to run AC 1.7 but it showed a crash report rather than the error message I was getting on Yosemite. So I've installed AC2 and running through the setup. Is there anything I need to know that may screw up the current setup I have on the iPads, or is it all a smooth transition? It's notifying me that I no longer need to download spreadsheets. We have a small amount of iPads so thus far I have not been using MDM, only Configurator. Thanks.
  12. Spoken to Apple who have said they've not changed any IPs at their end, so it must be something to do with the iMac itself or our network. If it's our network, it seems strange that something would have changed since the powercut on Friday and only affected Configurator. They've suggested installing it on a different Mac but I can't compare like-for-like because I can't download version 1.7 anymore. I have been using Yosemite, but Sierra is needed to upgrade to AC2 so I'll have to update the Mac before I can see if AC2 opens without the error!
  13. Ok, I guess they've sorted out the teething issues now. I just need to find out what IP I need to unblock to get it working again! Then maybe I will update to AC2. It does have a really poor rating on the App Store though...
  14. Surely if it was Apple changing their server then a lot more people on here would be having the same issue.
  15. Thanks for the suggestion. It actually worked! It just seems really strange that Configurator was working perfectly well before the powercut. Nothing has been changed on our internet connection or proxy settings so why it would suddenly have issues is a mystery. So glad it hasn't screwed up the database files!
  16. Nobody?
  17. Hello, I've been using Configurator 1.7.2 rather than updating to the latest, simply because it has been working and I've heard of issues with version 2. Anyway, yesterday the iMac was updating some apps on an iPad with Configurator open, when we had a site-wide power cut. Now when I try to launch Configurator I get the the message "Could not refresh the iOS update catalog. The store's response could not be parsed." Time Machine hasn't been turned on so I can't roll back using that. Any ideas? Thanks.
  18. Does your admin console have Rapid Release turned on? https://support.google.com/a/answer/172177?hl=en I was able to access the new Sites a few mins after turning ours on.
  19. Does this link take you to the new version? https://sites.google.com/new
  20. I would recommend the Toshiba Chromebook 2. Bit more expensive than what you're looking at but they're serving us well. We have the 1080p ones with 4GB RAM.
  21. Yeah, makes sense if you're using the fingerprint sensor but not so useful for schools with shared iPads.
  22. Has anyone started deploying this yet? I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about it on the forums, unless I just can't find the thread?!
  23. Einked Vector Graphics Editor?
  24. Just send Tim Cook an email. Think his address is [email protected]
