+1 on @tosh74. We had this issue and change the startup policy time to 60. But I found that ironically this didn't work, so I found we didn't to deploy the reg key instead of GPO and this worked for us. We had a similar issue with our laptops where they booted up without getting a network connect so GPO's wouldn't apply. Hope this helps.

[sims] Urgent Capita SIMS Data Issue - Issued by childrens services
JHLEHS replied to vikpaw's topic in MIS Systems
Hello guys, just a quick one to add. I have spoken to our LA and they have informed that the patch is now within The SIMS Summer release. We ran the sql script which shows the affected students, luckily there wasn't many records. But our LA did advise that this is a complete manual task to do this one by one and checking paper records etc. Not a happy bunny! -
Hardtailstar, I have seen the Dell Optiplex models and I was concerned about the screens they look a bit flimsy. What are the screens like on the HP Pro one? Would you say these are stronger?

Hello everyone, I am looking into replacing our computers around the school with all in one PC's, currently we have the old RM all in PC's which were great. We have a lot of issues of pupils pulling cables out of PC's etc. I am looking for an alternative, preferably ones which have some cable management so the children cannot disconnect keybaord or mouse and hard glassed ones would be better. I have looked at a couple of alternative but no jump out at me. I want to know what other people use at schools which are similar? Cheers.

Door Access Control and Visitor/Staff Sign In
JHLEHS replied to Zoom7000's topic in How do you do....it?
What MIS do you use? Most of our schools use Inventry which works really well and the support company are very good as well. Deffo worth a look. Visitor Management Sign in Solutions for Education | InVentry -
Hey chaps first of all thank you to @hutchings_18 great post. I have this error today I fixed this by going to SQL management studio and then finding DOMAIN\SERVERNAME$ and checking the user mapping and noticed that the user did not have any access to teh SQL Database. I ticked all the options and hey presto it worked a treat. Cheers everyone!

To configure SIMS so it works with AD you just need to do the following: On a domain computer with SIMS installed logged into the domain 1. add the following to the connect.ini ConnectionType=Trusted 2. Log into SIMS System manager locate an existing user and then click on the magnifying glass next to the name, type in the domain and click search this is where you can map the SIMS account with an AD account. The Username field should now display the domain\username ie. School\j.smith The password should appear blank

Second this, we perform the task above and it normally fixes the issue.

Right, have a look at SIMS on the Data Managers PC. I have seen this error before and this occurs because SIMS .net is using to much system memory so it crashes. You could try changing the GDI objects of the applicaiton. I have resolved a similar issue on one of our client PC's have a go at this: Windows 7 Error -12 Out of Memory When Creating Extensive User Interface - National Instruments Be careful though as if you configure this incorrectly it can cause BSOD etc.. Let me know how you get on - - - Updated - - - 2nd this aswell, deffo worth a go

Try re-installing the re-reqs by running SIMSINFRASTRUCTURE onto the machine. Also try a repair of .net framework. I would advise taking a look in event viewer on the machine and see if gives you more information.

I had a similar problem today at work. However when we reinstalled Options this did not fix the issue. On the machine where options was working we had a look at each implementation and found that the .dbf file it was looking at was an inactive implementation and therefore it generated the error message. We decided to rename the IMPxxxx folder and this solved the issue. Also we had a look at the SIMS share and the permissions were not correct. However be careful when renaming folders and always take a back up just incase. I am new to options so proceed with caution.

Thanks for this info -
Yes, many schools have this view about the sims data, and at the moment Cloud systems are very expensive.
