About SimonCygnetIT

  1. Tried that but no joy. I'm still trying to get my head around why 1 school out of about 40 that we have done is looking to activate WakeOnLAN.... it's bizarre.
  2. Hi all Has anyone else had a problem where SIMS SOLUS 3.12 upgrade will fail on the SOLUS 3 GUI and when you look in the logs it says it is attempting WakeOnLAN?? Kindest regards Simon
  3. We have also had schools starting to purchased products that use Wonde but we do things a bit differently. The schools buy the product and then Wonde contacts the school. The schools then contact us to make us aware of what they are buying and that Wonde is needed. I then contact the Wonde engineer and I then either obtain the license keys and do the install myself or get them remoted on to a machine where I can watch every step. To be honest I have found the guys at Wonde quite friendly and amicable and they have data agreements which the schools then have to agree to after the product is installed. I have done one install myself and it was very straight forward. Yes their exporter tool doesn't look great (looks like a very bland and basic Windows application) but it is easy to set up and get working. I have spoken with 2 different engineers at Wonde and both came across as technically capable. Any future installs of Wonde I will probably do myself.
  4. For that example no as you are already using Cloud technology. I think what @matt40k means is going from one complete technology to another, very different technology
  5. @Michael - Bare in mind that the school may not have had a choice in this if they have just joined a trust..could be a trust decision to move them immediately on to SIMS.
  6. Does the same routine work in SIMS work on another machine? If so then it is the workstation that is the problem and given it says about the SQL Client I would maybe check ODBC to ensure it works. Also have you run SIMSInfrastructuresetup.exe and ticked both the SIMS and FMS? If not then run that through first to see if that sorts it.
  7. Hi 1. Yes. It is the agent that polls back to the server to request the update and it then triggers if it is needed. 2. depends on what your setting is for concurrent downloads in SOLUS 3 on the server is. If the network deployment isn't at that limit then yes it should then be able to "jump the queue" and request the download.
  8. Hi all I have a strange situation where a school has the vast majority of subjects not set as active in SIMS under Tools - Setups - Subjects. This is effecting the Interventions module which has a dropdown list of subjects but it only shows ones that are active. From what I can tell everywhere else (such as course manager) the list of subjects is ok. If we try to edit a subject to set it as active we get an error saying the code already exists. Anyone got any ideas on how to make these subjects active as it is in most other schools? I'm guessing it will be to do with NOVA-T but everything looks fine in there and I know they have done an export recently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Also don't forget about the Attendance Letter templates that schools can create which are stored in the SIMS folder paths
  10. See my above. I have found that if you run the UI whilst logged on to the server as a different user to that that installed SOLUS 3 in the beginning it behaves oddly. Certain screens dissapear and some functions you just cannot do. Kindest regards Simon
  11. Default has been disabled with all the installs I have ever done.
  12. Are you logging on to the machine that SOLUS 3 is installed on to as the same network user that installed SOLUS 3 in the beginning?
  13. Hi RLR When you are entering anything in to the Teacher App it will save no matter what. The thing to check on the iPad is up in the top left corner to see if it is working Online or Offline. It could be that the iPad is not connected to the Internet in some way and is therefore saving the data locally (Offline working) until it connects to the internet. Once it connects it then becomes Online and should upload any saved data. In effect it caches the data that has been saved and then uploads once it can talk to the database. Kindest regards Simon
  14. Disabling On access scanning and then downloading and deploying the updates didn't cause my 2 servers to blue screen. Really quite strange as out of 40 schools that all use Sophos these 2 were the only one's to have issues. However know for the next one to disable on access scanning if it has to be done manually.
  15. I have 2 school servers doing exactly this. Luckily though the servers do boot back up fine but everytime I attempt to do the download it crashes them. Got a call logged with Capita and done initial advice on deleting packages ect but this has made no difference. I will look at doing it with Anti-virus disabled on the server but it has not been a problem for lots of other schools that all have Sophos installed.
