Hi All We've had a small issue with Students jail breaking their iPads. While this has been dealt with from a discipline point-of-view I'm trying to find someway to keep half an eye on whether the little darlings have jail broken their iPads or not. Hopefully within our MDM (Meraki). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Regards Simon

I'm looking for some advice/experience from people using AirPlay on a large network. We have about 100 teachers using their iPads to show their iPads on screen at the front of the classroom using AirPlay and thus far its been less than reliable. You can have seemingly identical iPads sitting next to each other and one will see 95% of the rooms in the school and the other will on see 5% of the rooms. The background to the network: We have the internal network with about 1,000 PC's, Macs, printers and the above mentioned iPads. The iPads are mostly running iOS7 with about 5% running iOS6. I am aware of the quite widely documented issue with AirPlay and the connection dropping but this is trying to connect to the machine in the first place. We are using AirServer instead of Apple TV. Longer term I'd like to divide up the network so that the staff iPads and the computer at the front of each classroom exist on their own VLAN as opposed to the large subnet that they are on at the moment. Has anyone else had a simular experience? Do you think that dividing up the network would help this issue?

Experiencing a little problem trying to install and supervise about 14 iPad's. Every time I come to prepare the iPad's I get a message saying "Unable to communicate with device". I've used multiple cables and changed which USB socket I use on the MacBook but still it keeps coming up with the error message. I've attached a pic of what it says, it's starting to bug me now

Hi, this is my first post. I have 70 ipads in the school where I am technician, I use Conigurator 1.5 (newest I think) and i have just updated all iPads to iOS 7.1. My problem is that most of the iPads updated fine, but as I'm doing them in groups of 10 one of the groups failed to update and they all went into recovery! I have restored them all individually in iTunes so they are now back to factory settings, fortunately i made backups of them all in configurator so I tried putting them back in to restore these backups. This is where the real problem starts! 5 of the 10 iPads restored fine, no problem, but the other 5 are not restoring, they come up with random error codes. Most common is error code 4 and it says: backup is encrypted. Which they are but all the others were fine, they ask for a password and once I have entered it they restore fine. These last 5 though are still not restoring to the backups i cannot work out what has happened, can anyone help? Thanks

Hi I'm currently working through a series ofissues updating a cart of iPads to iOS7 which are connected to a mac minirunning Apple Configurator. Below are the issues i am having if case anyone has come across them already pls. If i fix them i'll add to this to help anyone else with thesame problems.... Just to mention the Mac, iTunes and AC are allup to date. There's 32 iPads, on around half of them someof the kids have already updated the iOS over the wireless which means some ofthe apps now don't work until they are updated to new versions via AC. So problems so far: 1. When the new versions of apps were importedinto AC they were all showing as free inc paid apps so the codes couldn't be assigned. FIX: Delete the apps from AC first before you re-import them 2. Since the latest updates when the cart isplugged into the Mac iPhoto launches to view the photos on them and i get 30+boxes telling me "Photos in camera roll of iPad 'name' cannot be importedbecause the device is locked with a passcode. You must unlock the device toimport them" A suggested fix is to open Image Capture and set it to notlaunch any app when the ipads are connected but it doesn't make a differenceiPhoto still opens and this message appears every time. 3. When I plugged one iPad into the macdirectly with a usb it updated to iOS7 ok, but when i plugged the trolley innone of them would check in to AC and i got 30+ boxes saying "AppleConfigurator could not connect to this device" The problem seems to bethat the iPads have a passcode on them... For the iPads still on iOS6 if the passcode isentered and then plugged in (either via usb directly or in the trolley) it thenappears in AC ok. Having a passcode on them didn't stop them checking in beforethe update?. For the iPads that have been updated over thewireless (now on iOS7), the problem seems to be when the passcode is enteredand then connected a message appears on ipad screen saying "Trust ThisComputer?" This is a new message? It's annoying as thecable in the trolley isn't long enough to work on the ipad while plugged and itwill be a pain to have to plug them in to usb one by one to turn passcodes offand click this message. 4. Another issue with passcodes is onceupdated, the user is prompted to enter a passcode as it does but each time theiPad is refreshed it wipes the passcode and prompts for it to be set again. It's annoying that before all this i was just starting to get to grips with it all argh! lol, anyway if anyone has come across these issues and hasa fix please comment

The title pretty much says it all Thanks in advance

Tell you what, this software is enough to drive you mad lol, if anyone can help with this issue i'd appreciate it, I've spent hours on it to no avail.... I have a class with 31 iPads, sync trolley, mac mini and Apple Configurator (AC). I've read some of the other posts on here from people mentioning iOS7 issues so the first thing I did was make sure the mac OS was up to date, iTunes updated, and AC 1.4 installed. Just to see how the process would work on a single iPad I plugged one in via usb and tried to refresh it, AC detected iOS7 was available and went through the process of downloading it but when it came to unpacking/installing it failed with an error of "MDKZipUtilitiesErrorDomain error 1" and that's as far as it's got. Some of the kids have already updated several of the iPads over the wireless by setting it off from Settings but I wanted to do them all at once with the trolley/mac. The only info I've found for the error online suggests the download might be blocked but I don't think that's the case as it looked like the file had downloaded and then failed at the next stage, and also for the fact the update works when doing it manually over the wireless. The annoying thing now is some of the apps have stopped working on the ones that have updated as they need the latest version supporting iOS7. I don't really want to create a backup of one that is updated and wipe/restore it to the rest. Has anyone else had this issue or any ideas to get round it? Cheers
