Hi all, I'm trying to get Airplay working on some Ipads (IOS 8 & 9) using AirServer. The Ipads are Meraki managed. They pick up AirServer on the PC fine but will not connect. If I remove the Meraki profile on the 'pad.... Guess what.... It works. I have no Airplay settings defined in Meraki and very few restrictions. Anyone ever come across this ?? Cheers in advance

I'm looking for some advice/experience from people using AirPlay on a large network. We have about 100 teachers using their iPads to show their iPads on screen at the front of the classroom using AirPlay and thus far its been less than reliable. You can have seemingly identical iPads sitting next to each other and one will see 95% of the rooms in the school and the other will on see 5% of the rooms. The background to the network: We have the internal network with about 1,000 PC's, Macs, printers and the above mentioned iPads. The iPads are mostly running iOS7 with about 5% running iOS6. I am aware of the quite widely documented issue with AirPlay and the connection dropping but this is trying to connect to the machine in the first place. We are using AirServer instead of Apple TV. Longer term I'd like to divide up the network so that the staff iPads and the computer at the front of each classroom exist on their own VLAN as opposed to the large subnet that they are on at the moment. Has anyone else had a simular experience? Do you think that dividing up the network would help this issue?

Anybody else using this: https://www.reflectionapp.com/ Just tried the demo and was frankly amazed. Very simple to install, no app needed for the iphone as just uses airplay and connected to it straight away, even using the camera was pretty much lag free! Be great as a wireless document camera. Certainly cheaper than AppleTVs for each classroom. The demo is only 10mins though so couldn't fully test it, I'll probably get a licence or two and test but just wondered if anybody else using it in classroom? Any known issues etc? Cheers Gaz

Hello, We currently have a mix of XP/7 clients running the latest version of Reflector. We also have a Ruckus wireless system which has been divided in to three vlans; admin (vlan1), student (vlan2) and guest (vlan3). iPads/iPhones seem to work ok on the admin wireless system as they reside on the same vlan as the wired clients, although the app is extremely slow for certain devices (ipad2) and fine for others (iphone5) regardless of settings. The app also crashes when we try to airplay full screen videos’. With these issues set aside we have the main problem of not being able to connect to the reflector app from any other wireless SSID. Our Ruckus controller has been upgraded to the latest version (9.7.0.0 build 220) and we have applied the following settings: The bonjour gateway service has been enabled to bridge airplay traffic from vlan1 > vlan2 Client isolation has been disabled Multicast filter has been disabled 802.11d support has been enabled When connected to the student wireless system (vlan2) we can see that the airplay service is being advertised correctly from the client machine (vlan1) and we are prompted for the password when we try to connect. Once connected, the blue bar appears at the top of the screen indicating that mirroring is active, but nothing happens. 20-30 seconds later, the blue bar disappears and airplay is no longer enabled on the device. We have disabled windows firewall and antivirus products but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi We are looking at purchasing air server but before we do is there an alternative piece of software that anyone could recommend so that we can do some testing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Hi there all. Could anyone give me some examples of anything different to use than Apple TV? My boss requires me to find out the cost and not sure how effective they would be with vga to hdmi converters plugged into projectors without hdmi (most of them). I remeber not being too impressed with the quality. Is this your experience? This was however with the old 'g' wireless and now we have 'n' schoolwide it may be better. i will be trying with my ATV soon but was wanting your thoughts too. Apart from being expensive at £90 for every classroom, I thing I would def have to replace at least half of the projectors with ones with hdmi inputs. I just need the teachers and the kids to be able to display their ipads on the board. Student owned devices. Thanks all.

Problem: unable to connect Apple TV and ipad over vlans unless they are both on the same vlan as the AP's The network: Ruckus ZD 3000 Version 9.8.0.0 Build 373 plugged into core. Vlan 1 - (main scope 10.18.144.x /22) Vlan 5 - (visitor wifi 172.17.12.x /24) Vlan 10 -(BYOD wifi 172.17.32.x /20) Apple TV ipad AP's and ZD are on Vlan 1 but pushing out the vlans based on SSID. when apple TV is on vlan 1 and ipad is on vlan 1 airplay works. problem is this causes authentication with our smoothwall to be an issue, so no one can get on the web. Tried ipad on vlan 5 and ATV on 1 this caused ipad to not show the airplay icon. configured Bonjor gateway on the ZD to see airplay traffic from vlan 1 - 5 and vice versa... did it from the ZD and when that failed did it from the AP one and that didnt work either. Finally, connected the ATV to vlan 5 and the ipad to vlan 5 and i am still unable to see the airplay icon. Is there something i am doing wrong, it is very strange when they are both on the same network but still unable to see the multicast packets. Any help greatly appreciated. Sal
