Series: 10 episodes.

We have around 40 apple tv's located around our school and we have the auto update feature turned on. However after checking them and performing a manual update we have found there are always updates available. Does anyone else have this problem where the apple tv does not automatically update themselves?

Anybody else using this: https://www.reflectionapp.com/ Just tried the demo and was frankly amazed. Very simple to install, no app needed for the iphone as just uses airplay and connected to it straight away, even using the camera was pretty much lag free! Be great as a wireless document camera. Certainly cheaper than AppleTVs for each classroom. The demo is only 10mins though so couldn't fully test it, I'll probably get a licence or two and test but just wondered if anybody else using it in classroom? Any known issues etc? Cheers Gaz

Hi Not sure if this is the right forum but we are having a lot of issues with iPads dropping connection to Airplay since the IOS 8.1.1 and the latest Apple TV update. We have over 60 Apple TVs on site and although we had the occasional drop out it has now becoming a problem. Has anyone else got this number of devices and or experiencing any issues? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Dean

At this school we have installed Apple TV and are using a Lindy 2 port VGA & Audio switch. The presentation on the projector for the ATV is perfectly clear, but when switching to the PC output it is clear on the projector screen but the resolution on the PC monitor comes up as either "out of range" or blurry. We have played about with the resolutions and have ended up with some weird combinations to get a picture on the monitor, blurry or not. Currently using ViewSonic 17" monitors. Last room I outfitted had me setting resolution to 1024x768 at 70Hz, just to get a less blurry output. Any suggestions?

So Apple TVs with latest update (5.1) are supposedly able to connect to wireless and through proxy servers using 802.1x. This is possible by uploading a Profile through Apple Configurator. support.apple.com/kb/HT5438 Has anyone got this to work? My profile which includes credentials, passwords and proxy server info works perfectly on iPads, you don't have to accept certificates, but the same profile will not work on Apple TVs. Very frustrating. Any ideas?

Hi all, I'm having an issue streaming video from the Photos app on iPad to my Apple TV. Mirroring works fine, as does displaying photos, but when I try to stream a video most of the time it just comes up with a loading wheel and does nothing. The iPad says "playing video on Apple TV" but the video never starts. We have a number of other Apple TVs on the same network which work fine. I've updated both the iPad and Apple TV to the latest version and the wireless on the iPad and ethernet on the Apple TV doesn't appear to have any issues. I've tried a factory reset as well but it's still not working. Can anyone shed any light on it? Thanks in advance. Karl

Hi there all. Could anyone give me some examples of anything different to use than Apple TV? My boss requires me to find out the cost and not sure how effective they would be with vga to hdmi converters plugged into projectors without hdmi (most of them). I remeber not being too impressed with the quality. Is this your experience? This was however with the old 'g' wireless and now we have 'n' schoolwide it may be better. i will be trying with my ATV soon but was wanting your thoughts too. Apart from being expensive at £90 for every classroom, I thing I would def have to replace at least half of the projectors with ones with hdmi inputs. I just need the teachers and the kids to be able to display their ipads on the board. Student owned devices. Thanks all.

We have just been delivered 35 iPad's for a class set in our school, along with 5 apple TV's and a Mac Mini Server. But as soon as we connected the apple tv to a projector and two ipads to the network we realised that there was a problem, how do you manage which ipad is displayed on screen if we are using a class set. For example if a teacher was using the ipad on screen for a lesson and the class figure out how to mirror the ipad, in turn taking over the projector with there screen. Is there an app or a way of stopping children from doing this until a password is entered? or is it a case of disabling airplay with a configuration utility. Hope to hear peoples input as soon as. Thanks

Hi all, We have a some Apple TVs set up at one of our primary schools and teachers are complaining that the image being projected on to the whiteboard is too small, is there a setting on the Apple TV to adjust this, maybe some sort of zoom option, is it even possible to make the image bigger or are they just going to have to put up with it! If anyone has come across this issue, any help would be greatly appreciated -Vicky Tofield IT Technician Hatton Academies Trust

Has anyone experienced a problem with the latest apple TVs not connecting to the web. We have a vlan the bypasses our webfilter (light speed) and routes directly to web via our firewall (fortigate) Old apple TVs will connect just fine bit the latest ones will not. I'm guessing there is a slight change in protocol perhaps that our firewall doesn't like. Many thanks S

Problem: unable to connect Apple TV and ipad over vlans unless they are both on the same vlan as the AP's The network: Ruckus ZD 3000 Version 9.8.0.0 Build 373 plugged into core. Vlan 1 - (main scope 10.18.144.x /22) Vlan 5 - (visitor wifi 172.17.12.x /24) Vlan 10 -(BYOD wifi 172.17.32.x /20) Apple TV ipad AP's and ZD are on Vlan 1 but pushing out the vlans based on SSID. when apple TV is on vlan 1 and ipad is on vlan 1 airplay works. problem is this causes authentication with our smoothwall to be an issue, so no one can get on the web. Tried ipad on vlan 5 and ATV on 1 this caused ipad to not show the airplay icon. configured Bonjor gateway on the ZD to see airplay traffic from vlan 1 - 5 and vice versa... did it from the ZD and when that failed did it from the AP one and that didnt work either. Finally, connected the ATV to vlan 5 and the ipad to vlan 5 and i am still unable to see the airplay icon. Is there something i am doing wrong, it is very strange when they are both on the same network but still unable to see the multicast packets. Any help greatly appreciated. Sal

We purchased several iPads and apple TVs to be used around our academy. They all worked fine and there were no issues until one developed a fault and I restored it which updated the software. Since then it has been unable to set the date and time, which means that it will not air play and does not have any apps; so it's completely useless. After researching into the issue the only suggestions were to open port 123 as the apple TV needs to contact apple.time.com. This doesn't appear to have any effect. I contacted apple and they were of no help as they suggested the same thing and didn't have another solution. Has anyone else seen this issue before? Or have any ideas on how to solve it?
