  1. We're currently trialing SnipeIT for our SEN laptops and all is going well so far! It's simple, clean and has all the information that we could ever wish for! All going well this will replace our current spreadsheet.
  2. Same here, it's the only brand we use and no issues for 5+ years.
  3. Got the same message earlier, redialed and was placed in a queue. I guess if the queue gets too long, so save having people waiting in a queue for hours it gives you the message that basically says try again later. I got fed up of waiting so I've emailed support with our issue.
  4. I did that and that did not resolve the problem. Infact the more I rebooted the machines the more computers were affected with the issue of missing text. The changelogs from Impero suggested this 'issue' was fixed in later versions of the software that was compatible with Windows 10 so I upgraded to the latest version and *touch wood* it seems to be working OK now.
  5. The known Impero issue fix of adding an exception hasn't worked. I'm now in the process of upgrading to the latest version as we're a little out of date so we'll see if this helps. No pressure but the computers have got to be up and running by start of play Tuesday!
  6. It's not Impero that has caused this issue though as it's a change in the OS that has caused it and if we had been on the very latest version this wouldn't have happened as it's been updated to work with 1703. I do know what you mean by 'problematic' though as the reason we're not on the latest version is because we've lost a lot of faith in them over the last few years. Maybe now they've got some investment in the business they might improve going forward.
  7. We use Impero (for our sins). I searched the forum and missed that one! Thanks for the link. Impero mentioned again I see.
  8. Have you rebooted all your exchange servers? If not do it overnight and try again in the morning.
  9. Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
  10. I think the confusion is you asked for webcam software and Yawcam is exactly that. What you're actually after is Video Conferencing software which is what the likes of Skype is.
  11. We use a Unicol Remoteguard security cage that is screwed to the wall and we've not had one remote control go 'walkies' since we installed them! They normally around £45 each (when ordering 10 or more). We were spending silly money each year on replacement remote controls and after 3+ years we've not only broken even on the spend but also saved money and a lot of time and hassle too.
  12. After installing Windows 10 1703 from scratch, installing all our software I then created an SCCM image and deployed it (along with some drivers) to a test PC from a computer suite. On logging on this happened: No text! I re-imaged the PC with the VGA driver removed and it worked OK when I logged on but as it had the Basic display adapter driver I installed a different version of the graphics driver which worked OK so I added that to SCCM and re-imaged the PC. After re-imaging with a different VGA driver it all worked OK. Or so it seemed... as I was testing the redirected Start Menu, on one reboot I logged on and had no text! Logged off and back on again and the text was there again! The PC is an i5 4440 with 4GB of RAM on an Asus H81M-C motherboard with a 120GB SSD HDD. Any ideas what is going on?!
  13. We use AMC Computer Supplies but they'd require a make/model of laptop rather than a battery part number. 2Power is the brand we normally go for, good price and good quality.
  14. To be honest if they're 10 years old it's not worth spending much time on it as they're not going to be up to much (if anything) at all. Try a cut down version of Linux, see how easy it is for your end users to use and see how quick it is accessing a website and make a decision from that. We tried this on some very similar netbooks of a similar age and we tried it on one and then we put them in the WEEE!
  15. A lot of the deals on laptops have recently ended as new models are coming out now - at least this is what we've found with our suppliers.
  16. Correct, we pay an electrician less money than what a professional cabler charges. Also correct and as above, they charge more for their skills. In our experience most electricians don't see what the issue is with having inches of the twisted pairs untwisted is - they see the twisted pairs as being there just to hinder punching them down! Having just 1 inch of the pairs untwisted can give you a loss of as much as 20% so on a 1Gbps socket you'd only get up to 800Mbps hence why we terminate them ourselves with literally 1 or 2 mi limiters maximum untwisted so we get full bandwidth. Our time is already paid for so although technically the TCO is about the same, less money comes out of our expenditure so we have more money to buy hardware etc.
  17. If you have a large budget and plenty of spare cash then this is great! If like us money is tight and you simply cant afford to do that then you get your electrician to simply run the cable and then you terminate both ends yourself thus saving lots of money that can be spent on fixing/replacing computers instead.
  18. In my experience using a silent install and either adding to a task sequence or deploying it to computers is the way that always works.
  19. Windows Education is designed for the Education market so that's what we have always used. It's pretty much the same as Enterprise.
  20. You could try putting Linux on it - just find a distro that is small and then install a web browser. Not sure on how quick an old Netbook will be, I guess you wont know until you try it on one!
  21. To another educational establishment or a business then fine. If you're talking about to your staff or the public then I wouldn't bother as in my experience it's too much hassle. When I worked at a College we sold of the computers with no OS etc. on them as our license with Microsoft wouldn't allow us to sell a PC with it on. They were Sold As Seen with No Software on them and No Support. ALL the staff interpreted this to mean that once they had got the PC home they could bring it back in a weeks time and ask us to put Windows and Office on it and then support it when it went wrong. We ended up issuing everyone with a refund and sold them on to a business instead. We tried to do something nice for the staff but as we should have known, it backfired!
  22. Here's a photograph of a Lorry that I was driving around one of our outdoor communal areas the other day before the silly rain came along:
  23. Definitely sounds dead to me so you'll just have to get the data from the last backup of it you did...
  24. Those built-in micro-usb-3 connectors are a pain! If the data on it is important then you could look at sending it away for data retrieval - there are companies out there that will dismantle the HDD and remove the platters to get the data off for you but it will cost a fair bit. Ive never seen it work but there has alway been talk about putting a faulty HDD in a fridge or freezer (make sure it's in an air tight container/bag first) for a period of time and then connecting it to a PC very quickly before condensation gets on it - probably best done in a cold air conditioned server room. Worth a last try (if you dont want to send it away) as you've nothing to lose at that point.
