It's a bit of a faff but take full ownership and change permissions of the System Volume Information folder on the root of the C: drive and I'll bet it's the cause of it being full up. It think it's this hidden folder the System Protection gets saved to so you could try turning that off for your C: drive - you wont be able to do any recoveries but you could try it on one and see if that frees up some space.

I'd put my money on it being something to do with whatever is in the System Volume Information folder on the root of the C: drive.

Are they their business grade laptops or home grade ones? The is a big difference in the duty cycle of both types - if it's a business grade one then I'm surprised as they have roll-cages inside them and have all sorts of tests run on them to make them very strong.

I've had to manually disable the service in IIS as it turns out computers are literally locking up for 15 minutes at a time randomly throughout the day and when I disabled the service on Monday morning this issue has gone away! We've witnessed it ourselves and even the clock on the Taskbar freezes and then around 15 minutes later it changes to the correct time as the laptop becomes responsive. Any ideas as to why this service and the settings are causing this?

I've been using SCCM for a few years now but we've never used it for pushing out Windows Updates. To ensure all new Windows 10 builds installed on new computers etc. have the Microsoft patch for the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerabilities installed I want to install then as part of the Task Sequence. Here's what I've done so far testing on a Windows 10 Edu 1709 OS: Created a Device Collection to test this out called "Windows 10 1709 (16299)" and my 3 test machines were then populated in to this collection when using the following criterion: Found the KB in All Software Updates Downloaded the KB4056892 update for W10 1709 and created a Software Update Group called "PATCH - W10 1709 - Meltdown Spectre" Deployed the "PATCH - W10 1709 - Meltdown Spectre" to a the Device Collection called "Windows 10 1709 (16299)" and made it Available On one of my test PCs that appeared in the above Device Collection I run all the Actions in the Configuration Manager applet in Control Panel Waited a while... Opened up the Software Center and the KB4056892 patch was there ready to be installed. I then installed the patch and it all worked OK Now I want to get this installed during a Task Sequence so I simply added "Install Software Updates" to the TS to see what happened: As you've probably already worked out, nothing got installed! What do I need to do to get the client to scan itself and so it appears in the appropriate Device Collection? I'm assuming this is the bit that's missing from my Task Sequence and until it does a scan it wont be in any Device Groups so it thinks there are no updates for it but if it was in the group that I have deployed the update to then it would have installed, right?? Thanks in advance.

Prices will always go up on items that are no longer manufactured so when you find some you can afford, buy plenty of spares for the future as at some point not only will the price potentially increase but stocks of old products will sell out at some point. We have a spares shelf with all sorts of bits in and we're so glad we always order an extra one or two of something if we are still using particular products. [EDIT] I've just done a quick 'Google' and it seems £39.99 is actually the cheapest they are going for at the moment as others are over £50 for the same thing and the nibs appear to be selling for £5.99 and above so you might want to get a few of those in stock as spares before they end up going up or running out of stock. £39.99 might be expensive but I guess you have to look at it as being cheaper than replacing the boards with a newer model. If it aint broken, dont fix it! Nothing wrong with running old peripherals - some of our HP printers go back a long, long time but are still going strong!

Available Microsoft Updates Not Appearing In SCCM Software Center
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
***ALL SORTED*** The clients were correctly pointing to our SCCM server but after looking in the logs they were generating an error code 0x80244022 which means the client can see the SCCM server but one of the services isnt giving a reply. I checked the normal Windows Services and they were all OK but I have now learnt that their are some Services in the IIS Manager and it was the WsusPool service that had stopped, so I started it and then had to reboot the SCCM server to get things to work! -
Available Microsoft Updates Not Appearing In SCCM Software Center
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
I've found the log file I need to look at (WUAHandler.log) and I can confirm that it is indeed pointing to our SCCM server for updates, however there are a few errors I need to look in to now: -
Available Microsoft Updates Not Appearing In SCCM Software Center

OK, I'll take a look at some logs then. When I click on All Software Updates and list all of the updates there are loads of them that are required including a few where several hundred are listed as required. -
Available Microsoft Updates Not Appearing In SCCM Software Center
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
Oh, I see! In that case the answer is no, it doesnt appear to be required. What do I need to do to make it required? We've got 759 computer in SCCM so surely it must know some of them require it or am I not doing something? Each time I search the internet for information on how to deploy software updates via SCCM all i seem to get it websites showing how to install it - that bit I've done I just need to learn how to use it so if any one has come across a website that might help then please let me know! -
Available Microsoft Updates Not Appearing In SCCM Software Center
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
I thought Required would mean they would automatically install without the need for the user to go in to the Software Center? I've tried both Required and Available and have left them as Available as that's what I've done for the optional software they can install and all that has always appeared OK in the Software Center. I'm new to using SCCM for Microsoft Updates so appreciate your help -
Available Microsoft Updates Not Appearing In SCCM Software Center
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
Client Activity is showing as Active and Check Result is Passed. I removed all of the WSUS GPOs years ago and set the settings in the SCCM client to use SCCM for Microsoft Updates - as (up until now) no Windows Updates were configured so when the PCs checked for updates they get told there arent any by SCCM so none get installed. That way the only way they can do the updates is manually by themselves by clicking connect online, that way they are in control of when the updates get done as too many dont shutdown properly so when they do, this way prevent the old '127 Updates' installing! -
Until now we've only ever used SCCM to manage Endpoint Protection, Deploy 'golden images' via PXE and install available software via the Software Center but now I'm trying to make a Microsoft Update available from the Software Center using the SCCM Software Update Point. I've created a Device Collection containing 3 test PCs I've got. I've deployed a update to the software group by making it available but it's not showing up in the Software Center on any of the machines. I know Software Center is working as I have removed a couple of outdated software applications and on the test machines when I run the Actions in the Configuration Manager control panel applet the programs I have removed disappear from Software Center proving it's connecting to the server and updating OK. As I've never used SCCM Software Update Point are there any settings I perhaps need to check?

WANTED - Promethean 78" PRM2 board
Fazza replied to Paid_Peanuts's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I clicked on the first 78" one and it said 3yrs so I assumed they were all 3yrs! Mind you, 1yr warranty is better than 0yrs you'd get from buying one from a school I guess. Supply and demand, the fewer they have to sell the higher the price will be - when they get more from schools that are upgrading i bet the price will come down. -

It took me a while to warm to Matt Smith but I really enjoyed his time as The Doctor but even though I've seen all of Capaldi's episodes I still havent warmed to him and the only reason I watched him in it was incase there are some references to it in the new series with Whittaker in it which I'm really looking forward to.

SCCM - The Download Software Updates Wizard completed with errors
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
I've deployed a single Microsoft Update KB as a test to a Device Collection with just 2 computers in it. I've set it to be Available so I assume it should be listed in the Software Center under Updates, is that right? I've run all the Actions in the Control Panel Applet a couple of times and waited for around an hour and nothing is showing up on the client computers - am I doing something wrong or just being impatient? -
After watching a couple of episodes with Capaldi as The Doctor I didnt like him so never watched any more episodes... until now that is! After reading and listening to all the Buzz surouding the show now that Jodie Whittaker is taking over the reigns as The Doctor that seems to have reignited my passion for this show, so for the last couple of months I have been watching all of Capaldis episodes on Netflix and when I saw all the ones on there I had to buy the 2 BluRay disks which I completed watching at the weekend! I have now seen the Christmas Special on the BBC iPlayer so I'm now all caught up! I can't wait for the new series to start later on in the year!

SCCM - The Download Software Updates Wizard completed with errors
Fazza replied to Fazza's topic in Enterprise Software
We dont use a proxy here (yet) so that's not the issue. I logged on to the server with an admin account and did the download from there so you're right that it's a permission thing, just not sure what I need to do to get it to work when I open the console on my PC rather than the server directly. -
Is anyone from Senso.Cloud going to bet at BETT2018?
