Never had a problem with them - great service and great prices! (for the desktops with the tamper resistant cases that is)

Does it show up in Disk Manager? If so it may need initialising or making online before you can then partition and format it.

If you think it would be well suited for a small Primary School and want to sell it you need to find website or forum specialising in Education and post it for sale on there listing what you're selling and what price you want. Then you can invoice the School and they can then pay using a Purchase order so it's nice and simple for all those involved.

I ordered a USB charging cable for my Gamin watch this morning from Amazon for £3.95 and it was delivered the same day around 7pm so no wonder Maplin was unable to survive when it's online competitors offer this level of service!

We use one of these for a 160Gbps (I know it's not 1Gbps like you asked but we've had it a few years now and they may have a newer model at that speed): It's not line of site so things like a tree being in the way hasn't hindered our installation! The model we have goes up to 31miles although I think you'd need a bloody good pair of binoculars at both end to get it lined up the best you can!

I guess so but I'm not a web developer so no idea how to create a web page that will have the certificate on it so they can install it etc. That sounds like the sort of thing we need!

We have several different web filtering levels, Guests, Staff, Students (6th Form Only) etc. and I'm getting fed up with having to email across the surfprotect.crt certificate from EXA Networks to mobile phone users and copying it from a USB memory stick to laptops in order to get a BYOD to be able to access the internet. Not everyone has a contract phone, some have PAYG with no credit on so trying to get a certificate emailed to that device is a non-starter and it's very embarassing when we have guests from different organisations around the country come to visit and ask for the Guest WiFi password which wont actually get them on to the internet until we've explained that we're not installing anything dodgy on their devices when we try and get the certificate installed! We've spoken to Exa on the phone and they said there is no other way - but surely there's gotta be a way of getting the certificate installed on their BYOD devices than this??

Yes thanks - all sorted! Just needed to know how to install the certificate and set a proxy - everything's easy when you know how and I've now documented what I did so can do it again in the future!

No idea what Squid Proxy is I'm afraid. All I'm trying to do is get CentOS 7 to connect to the Internet! We run our Asset Management system on a CentOS 7 VM and it's time to upgrade it but it doesn't work as it runs a script that it gets from the Internet that is going to https sites such as GitHub and fails. I've installed the exa-networks certificate but still getting errors as the machine wont be using a proxy that works as none are set as I haven't set any yet, hence this thread. If I had a GUI I think you can pretty much open up Firefox and configure the proxy settings there but this is not a client computer so no GUI is installed - it's just plain old CentOS 7 (DVD Install) with Basic Web Server option during the installation. I'm new to Linux and the only way to learn how to do things is to get on and try and do them!

What's the command to configure the proxy then or is there a file I need to edit?

I've just installed CentOS 7 Linux and need to download/run an online script and I'm getting certificate errors because I haven't installed Exa Networks SurfProtect.crt certificate on the machine, as I dont know how to! So, how do you install a .crt certificate in Linux? I've managed to copy it to the VM to the root oc the drive so all I need to do now is install it!

You've not said what's broken with it so I will assume it's just the screen you've broken - so are the screens available on eBay etc. and could you have a go at fixing the screen yourself?

It gets worse! Years and years and years ago we had Ranger. Ranger had the home folders like this: \\fileserver\username$ but the new (and more correct way) we do it is \\fileserver\staff$\%username% If I run both the scripts I get 2 different sets of results!!

Is it possible to output the $livefolders and $oldfolders lists to two different text files? I did try but I just got 2 .csv files with lists of numbers in instead of home folder names!!

Doesn't look like it works properly as I've just deleted a home folder that this script claims to be an orphaned folder and it isnt as it is 100% definitely in AD. [EDIT] I think the 'glitch' must be that it's looking at the username and assuming that's the name of the folder in the home folder share which is OK except where someone has had their username changed (i.e. got married) but their home folder hasn't changed.

Just tried and it worked like a dream! 398 folders to delete!

I've got a list from Active Directory of all the home folders in use (i.e. \\servername\staff$\homefoldername) so if I get a directory listing from the server is it possible to do some 'magic' and compare the two things to see which home folders I can safely delete as they are not linked to a current AD account? Or is there another/easier/simpler way of doing this?!
