£25K sounds very low for a secondary school. How many staff and pupils do you have? We struggle on £25K as a large primary and we don't have anywhere near as many devices as you. We have approx. 160 devices in total, on two physical servers with 4 virtual. 100 staff and 750 pupils. We too are looking at replacing our smartboards and projectors with interactive flat panels and have two SMART 6265 units which are brilliant but at £2,400 each we're considering leasing the rest to split the cost over 3 years.

Have you checked the Events in the unifi software for clues? I'd do a hard restart on the iPad then try resetting Network Settings on the iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings) Also try giving the iPad a static IP.

Sorry for the delay. The only chargers I have with matching power output are Liteon PA-1650-02 19V 3.42A centre positive. Small yellow ring on the tip of the plug. What size school is this for? We are a large primary and our whole school runs off a similar spec to that with 4VMs, one of which is the SIMS server VM. It has 6 cores, and 16GB of RAM and runs perfectly without breaking a sweat.

That's a very good point. No mention has been made of renewal costs after the current license has expired. For us, this isn't until 2021 but we still need to factor this in when requesting budgets of course. I also got exactly the number of licenses as I had specified in the initial email to Sophos.

Are any other Parago users experiencing problems with the Parago helpdesk when trying to reply to tickets? I'm getting the 'Working... Please wait' message. Initially, we thought it was an IE thing and switched to chrome, but its doing it in chrome as well, although chrome seems a bit better, but not 100%. Parago have said the issue lies with the connection between us and their server, but we aren't experiencing connectivity issues and no other applications are showing similar symptoms. I've been running a connectivity monitor, testing the connection to parago.co.uk every second and it hasn't disconnected once. Any suggestions what to try next?

We bought direct from Parago, at the time it didn't have the room booking feature but we didn't pay any extra for it or the helpdesk. I think they have changed their system so it is more modular now, but when we bought it we got everything.

We use Parago here and it does what we need. There have been some teething issues, and we've tested and fed back on new features which is always nice to see. It comes with a helpdesk and room booking system which are getting better all the time. Before buying Parago we also had a demo of every Every school software for contracts, maintenance, assets & procurement : Every Compliance Management which I really liked as well but the SBM went with Parago.

I'd get in touch with them via the [email protected] address. They replied pretty quickly with an email showing our licenses schedule and shows the expiry date in 2021 as expected. I also received a phone call to discuss InterceptX but the cost is out of our budget at the moment.

I've received the email below twice now - I was wondering if anyone has taken them up on their offer to move over to their cloud based Central? I like the idea, but was wondering what the overheads were like in terms of traffic generated by all 166 devices communicating with Sophos servers at the same time.

I was going to do something along those lines using groups in office365 and a simple sharepoint site. However, our local cluster of schools have signed up to CPOMS so its been taken out of my hands. I've seen the demo of CPOMS and it does look good, but we haven't started using it yet. It uses groupcall xporter to update itself from SIMS. That's my only involvement with it so far.

That sounds like a sensible plan. I was looking at the US-16-XG when I was looking into 10Gb but its a bit overkill for us at the moment. There's only about £14 difference in price at my usual supplier, 4Gon Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch 16 XG - ES-16-XG

I think the gateway pro will probably do what you want - it shares many of the Edge switch features as it uses the same Edge OS. It seems like an edge product with the unifi front end bolted on so as long as you don't mind playing around with .json files you can probably get it to do what you need. No, we use all 4 but could survive if any of them went down. - Are most cabs connected by spf or spf+ transceivers? TP-link spf+ modules in Netgear and Unifi switches. - Would you agree / disagree in how important it is to invest and maintain your fibre infrastructure? Maintain, yes. - Do any schools in the area have a secondary server unit or cloud solution for vm replication, in case of hardware failure? We have a secondary server but no cloud solution. Thanks - that's exactly what I need to do. This is the first time I've come across a config.gateway.json file so i'll take it steady... It seems odd that everything else on the device (that I've needed to do anyway) is configurable through the web interface. When I SSH into the gateway it comes up with EdgeOS so it seems this device is kind of a crossover between the Edge and Unifi ranges.

I've setup port forwarding on our unifi secure gateway pro to allow external monitoring of the CCTV system. This is working using the first available external IP addr given by our ISP, i.e. xxx.xxx.xxx.161. We have 4 available external IP addrs so I now want to add a new rule for our phone system which is on a different internal IP addr. So I want to be able to remotely access the phone system on xxx.xxx.xxx.162 but I don't seem to be able to find any way of adding the 'incoming' IP address into the port forwarding rules. There isn't a specific NAT section within the unifi controller software - just port forwarding. Anyone got a similar setup with the unifi secure gateway working?

Welcome @Vaardu - I've had more than my fair share of issues with the Fizzbook Spin! Fortunately for me we've got rid of all ours now so that's one support nightmare over. I hope you find work soon.
