  1. the calendar entries for users are not group based, but generated by the invite e-mail that gets sent when a meeting is done. The calendar does not know if you move Teams as all it know is you were invited and if you've accepted, declined or not responded yet
  2. When we did it for one of the MAT schools in lockdown 1, it took effect in Teams after a weekend had pasted, so not as bad as 2 weeks. I normally allow at least 48 hours for changes to appear in Teams from 365
  3. There is not a Teams policy that can prevent it from updating, if anything it's just PC policy Are you sure your client actually needs updating, as it might be that your tenant is on the correct version. If you are logged in to the Teams application, and click on your profile picture at the top right, there is an option to Check for Updates, just to make sure. That should then run in the background and update if there is one available for that user. A notice will appear if the download has completed for you to click to restart Teams.
  4. it can take up to 24 hours for changes to take effect, as some of it does not get processed until the address book sync takes place we've found
  5. both same price at Insight, so depends if you want it to match I guess.
  6. Which version of AoVPN are you aiming for. User based, or Device based? I've setup a User based "Forced" tunnel (script example has split-tunnel for users) with the VPN on a 2019 server with Dual NIC for the RRAS and the NPS on 2012 R2 without too many issues. Firewall has UDP ports 500 and 4500 open inbound pointing to the IP on the NIC we're using for the connection (different IP range than our main network for extra security). I basically followed the steps from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-access/vpn/always-on-vpn/deploy/always-on-vpn-deploy-deployment and only fun I had was that the certificate had not been picked up on the first devices we sent out as the GPO wasn't applied. Also adjusted the SCCM deployment of the script to be by user group instead of just device. Assuming your device is showing that it has the AoVPN in the Network Connection box, if you have something blocking the ports, you will get an error number/message showing under it in a orange text (how we worked out certificate was wrong) Other authentication errors should appear in your NPS log in C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles folder on your 2012 box
  7. For our staff, we have left their display name as their normal logon of For students (who all have e-mail addresses starting STU), we have just updated their display names to be , instead of so that when staff look at the attendance list/meeting participants in Teams they are all in order and makes taking a register a bit easier.
  8. This was the information we got regarding how to create the CSV for the SIMS own bulk import Creating a CSV File for Import: The CSV file can contain as many fields as required but as a minimum for import, the file must contain: Surname and Forename; or UPN; or Admission Number Telephone Number (a column should be created for each type, e.g. home, work, mobile) Email Address (a column should be created for each type, e.g. home, work). Each data field must be created as an individual column. When creating a pupil/student's email addresses and/or telephone numbers import file, the Admission No. and UPN must be included in the spreadsheet to enable successful matching.
  9. It depends if you've driven there or not from my friend who is helping out with it all. If you drive they normally ask you to wait 10-15 mins just to be safe.. don't want to cause a crash. If your a passenger more likely to be able to go quicker it seems.
  10. We got round this by creating a dedicated account for the Leadership Team/Head of Key stage to use that is in all the teams. They then login with that account when needed so they don't get hundreds of e-mails, calendar entrys and notifications from our 500 class teams
  11. Well according to the Gov page about how the different internet access schemes they were doing (BT, 4G, data increase etc), they stopped their pilot with the BT Hotspot vouchers back in December as most couldn't get a reliable enough connection (https://get-help-with-tech.education.gov.uk/internet-access#bt-wifi) so not too shocked if they are having trouble. I have problems enough if I try connecting via my phone to my own BT Wifi hotspot. I wanted to test it out, and was next to useless even on my 80mb Halo package
  12. Depending on how your student e-mail accounts are formatted, you can setup a rule in Exchange so that any messages from and to internal recipients that match a certain name format are deleted, but it's a classroom management type issue more than IT. I can think of lots of our staff that seem to waste time sending rubbish via e-mail, nevermind the kids.
  13. Splitting the GAL up would likely have been a better solution than 3 accounts (especially if part of the goal was to limit who is seen in address books etc), but with the setup you currently have I think any solution will either requirement moving to a paid tier or simplifying the 365 account structure.
  14. Have they muted all students in the Teams Members section?
  15. @ICTDirect_Dave The Whitestar, first in her class, is a blend of Minbarii and Vorlon Tech and created one of the most powerful "Battle Cruisers" left in the Babylon 5 Universe after the "First Ones" had left to go beyond the Rim. It is as long as the Enterprise (NCC-1701, no bloody A, B, C or D) and the work horse of the Rangers and the Interstellar Alliance.
  16. Our solution to not knowing if it's an official account, or a guest, turned out to be a bit of an accident. We set all our users profile picture previously as the School logo, and as we prevent users from changing that profile picture (including in teams) if a guest account joins it has the default Office 365 avatar of a couple of letters, where as all our users clearly show the logo in the lobby. Now if staff pay attention to that or just click "admit" as the messages pop up we can't control, since the few incidents we've had this month is mainly students sharing the invite message that gets sent out with friends elsewhere as a laugh.
  17. We are still using MDT for the build, but likewise our Geo's connect via VPN, but user based not device which makes it more interesting
  18. It depends what the site had available when you selected. We've had HP, Dell and Geo books so far
  19. Cheers @Norphy We found out the hard way that at least 2 of our devices didn't have audio drivers after we had tried rebuilding them (blooming pain in the neck as they don't have onboard NIC) so had to install the drivers via a remote session since the student had it at home (at least Impero saved the day there!)
  20. Had a few reports this week, but staff just re-created them since there was some bugs at the start of the week with Teams
  21. Hadn't noticed that, but we have guest access enabled anyway so that staff at other schools within the trust/parents can attend meetings not related to classes. We have enabled the option for everyone but the meeting organiser to have to wait to be admitted from the lobby to ensure that staff only accept student's account and not a guest one just to be on the safe side.
  22. to be honest, we've had 1 faulty one (that we're aware off) out of nearly 200, and it just won't charge back up, and when we get time to do a RMA for it we will. Yes they are well below the spec we would look for if purchasing ourselves, but they are handling up perfectly fine for us joined to the domain, with Always On VPN and Office 365 etc all configured on it.
  23. This time round we ordered unrestricted Windows laptops and just added the Geobooks straight to our domain so they are configured the same as our normal workstations. We have an Always On VPN setup (did that in the summer) so using a Forced Tunnel, all the students connect straight back into to school and get our filtering, Impero can still be used etc. Once we get out of the current lockdown we will recall the original laptops that still have the DfE restricted settings and do the same to them.
  24. either that or someone is suffering from side effects of saying witch was in Devon and not Dorset
