  1. Our Solus uninstall script contains the following which gets rid of most of settings. MsiExec.exe /qn /X{360A3B05-97CC-49B2-AD1F-A53017C6D58D} MsiExec.exe /qn /X{EA7E5FE5-CEB4-4BA1-BF93-EC4AC57AA45C} RD /S /Q "C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS" RD /S /Q "C:\Program Files\SIMS" DEL "C:\Windows\SIMS.INI" /Q
  2. ah and there we are ensuring users can't access that folder as it should be stored in their own temp folder
  3. Just tired 4.6.5.0 portable on a freshly installed Windows 10 21H1 build and opens ok and no sign of crashing yet It has not picked up any additional .Net updates yet (will check that in a few moments)
  4. Yes the link order. As you see in the (hopefully) attached image, anything in my "RM Safetynet" policy gets applied first as its the bottom of the list. If I have a contradictory value in either of the 2 policies above it, they will take precedence. However we don't actively put a value into the domain firewall policy for Solus, since the installation process sets it up on the station itself
  5. GPO's are deployed from the bottom of the list upwards, so if you create a new policy for your firewall it is automatically at the bottom of your list, so if you allow a port there, and another policy higher up blocks the port, the net result will be that the GPO says "close port X" GPP lists work from the top down just to confuse matters.
  6. Just make sure your GPO with the correct firewall rules to enable solus is higher in the order than your firewall rule that doesn't have it open. No need to have it turned off entirely
  7. Can highly recommend @johnlevis at Very PC if you need a quote or a chat regarding the licences, especially if your not in the middle of a renewal anniversary but rather getting ready to start a new 1 or 3 year agreement.
  8. That looks to be your OVS-EES Desktop Cal pack based on the number of staff using a computer over 200 hours (which at the time hopefully was 80 people). Unit cost would have been around the £50-54 mark. That includes your Windows 10 upgrade from Windows Home/Windows 7 Office (including the FoC Office 365 for staff/students) Core Cal Suite entitles you to SCCM on to manage Endpoints SharePoint CAL, Skype for Business CAL, Exchange CAL & Windows Server CAL & Endpoint Protection
  9. Has the laptop got 2 IP addresses listed in DHCP/DNS from the ethernet and wireless NIC's? If so remove the entry for 1 of them in DHCP/DNS and do a ipconfig /flushdns on the SIMS server and see if Solus will push the update out. We used it get it often, and 9/10 times that would resolve the issue
  10. We named the teams with the GCSE year they spanned, so we'll just archive them at the end of term. E-mail addresses were auto generated by Teams anyway so it's the random msxxxxx style so no need for us to worry about them.
  11. According to the whois for your domain, RM are the holders for your .sch.uk. Can't see any DNS records for your new domain, so whoever you wish to get it from will also likely have the option to host your DNS with it
  12. We didn't touch the laptops that were DfE configured, they went straight to students as is so had no additional software
  13. Well the original paperwork had the filtering ending last year and it just got increased as the lockdowns came through, but then again the scheme wasn't really thought through properly to begin with. Thankfully the majority of "DfE" configurated laptops we assigned to students have been returned as our Y11 kids leave next week, and everything we ordered from Jan was the unmanaged option so we could put them straight into our network and AoVPN them (and meant students had proper office available and not just the web version)
  14. For KS4 classes, when we created them all last year we added the year they span, so ones created this year will be 2021-2023, so we can easily see which ones to archive off as well. KS3 classes just had the year and subject in the name and we'll just remove the students/staff and add the new ones since we do it all via powershell based on class membership reports from SIMS
  15. Well it's more of a warning since you need to replace the SIM card in it as well as resetting the password
  16. Likewise for all our SSO, it is all handled via Azure 365 for us, and for those sites that don't support Office 365 login and only google, we also have G-Suite setup which authenticates back to Azure so if users select to sign-in with google they still get the familiar Office 365 login.
  17. One the web filtering expires, they should revert back to normal unfiltered connection, but they have provided instructions on how to remove the DfE image if you've not already reformatted the device.
  18. Its also fair to point out that it's not a technology issue but a procedural issue. Maybe the SLT should be going around and reminding staff.
  19. This is important. the full height racks often have an option for a pull-out stabilising foot for this reason, which the smaller/wheeled versions might not have.
  20. 800 deep is a goodsend, if I had the room and was getting a new one, I'd even get a 1000 deep one as it's quite tight at the rear with all the cables at times (thankfully we don't have the door on the back. You can put a shelf in to put your server on, which can double as a monitor/keyboard shelf when you replace the towers for rackmounts
  21. If you already use Google G-Suite, then as Dave suggests you can use the Google Forms If you use Office 365, then you can use the Forms in there. We have been using the 365 Forms for all our covid test responses from students and staff (as well as surveys) and the office staff have quickly grasped how to set them up and the fact that all the data is available as a spreadsheet for both, and the data is held within your environment so if you've already done the DPIA on it, you don't need to go through it again for another platform
  22. Well the associated KB it refers to was created on the 04/08/2021 regarding connection issues signing in to Office 2016 (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/office365/troubleshoot/authentication/connection-issue-when-sign-in-office-2016) so it's been a possible issue for the last month or so?
  23. Unless I'm mistaken, the requirement for you to store their educational record in your MIS (regardless of product) is not something that parents can refuse due to it being part of the duty of care. Refusing consent for G-Suite applications is certainly a new one, as I assume that it's one of your Core IT provisions, the same way as Office 365 is for us.
  24. We had that on 1 user last week... they had logged on with a cached network profile before the station had updated it's IP address. A reboot of the station and it then worked fine.
  25. Your welcome. Lot can happen in 3 days it seems, now where is my pillow to have a snooze
