Impero Proxy Password in Plain-Text
FN-GM replied to ColonelPanic's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I would be impressed. The student has talent and appears that they haven’t abused it. They did the right thing and brought it to your attention. This will ultimately benefit many schools across the country (hopefully they fix it!). I believe they should be rewarded. -
You do know it’s 2024 right?

You would have the same issue if the uplink was 2.5Gb. You will get this with WIFI 5 as well. I bet people here have 48 port gig switches with a 1Gb uplink. Same applies to a switch with 24 1GB ports with a 10GB uplink. QOS etc should always be used regardless of the deployment to prevent the link become saturated.

Yes - because you're capped at 300 meg ish for WIFI 5 - WIFI 7 you could reach a gig.

I was using Freepbx from 2011 - 2020. 2020 onwards switching to 3CX. The main reason is for their soft phones, 3CX is miles ahead. Everyone had the desktop software install and mobile apps. It was super easy for the user to setup. Also great features like Office 365 interface. 3CX is also easier to administer.

I see the benefits as well. If cyber security is centralised it may mean there is specialism in that area. Keeping children’s data safer. This is a guess though!

Northern Ireland is in the UK. I can’t see why it can’t be done in England.

My friend works for Ranstad as a recruiter. A Chromebook is all they use.

Managing computers with servers is a thing of the past. Tools like InTune all the way.
-
Definitely sounds like a management issue. It doesn’t sound good if the school can’t control the students.

I have a cron job running on my switches that runs every night and does the following. 1. Save the running config to prevent the issue you faced. 2. Save a copy of the config to a SFTP server. You’re welcome to a copy of that config if you like.

The only thing we have is Amazon Prime. The money we save by not using the supermarket covers it. I can’t think of any other subscriptions.

RM Internet Price Increase

NS Optimum have had a terrible reputation for a long time…. -
I have 2 x 32” ultra wides at work. At home I have 1 x 24”. The screen at home is perfectly fine but feels awful compared to my work screens! I have been spoilt.

RM Internet Price Increase
FN-GM replied to AverageMuggle's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
It depends on the terms of the contract. Being in a contract doesn’t necessarily mean a fixed price. -
Basically this ^^ The switch should have been numbered before joining it to the stack. I would restore the port config for switch 2 from your backup. Copy and paste the config. Also the 2960S is end of life. You should consider removing from service.

GDPR - Tips and Tricks for staff
FN-GM replied to titch's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
You can do this for them with powershell. -
They use different branding in Australia. I can’t see them switching to this as WHS means Workplace Heath & Safety.

Digital Infrastructure Manager | Oxfordshire | £43,421 - £46,464
FN-GM replied to muppet's topic in Educational IT Jobs
In that case you might want to consider revising the title to match the duties in order to attract the right candidate. -
Digital Infrastructure Manager | Oxfordshire | £43,421 - £46,464

The title doesn’t seem to match the PD. There are tasks in there outside of a usual infrastructure manger role. For example working on a MIS. has there been a mistake with the ad? -
VMWare physical host reporting NIC running slow
FN-GM replied to kennysarmy's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
We had similar. A fibre patch lead from the SAN to a switch was bumped. Lots of packet loss and performance issues. Touched it and heard the click. All issues disappeared. It probably wasn’t 100% seated properly during installation 3 years prior. -
VMWare physical host reporting NIC running slow
FN-GM replied to kennysarmy's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
The answer will depend. Are you running a vCenter server? If so are you using a distributed switch? -
If you use Single Mode Bi Directional then only 1 physical fibre is needed rather than a pair of 2.
