A chap from RM was telling me about a school that had bought a bunch of Casio projectors and the new multi touch SmartBoards (I'm guessing the 880 ones) and they were having problems with them interfering with each other. Didn't hear of a solution for it unfortunately.

We've got about 20 of the HP 2520-8G POE switches - I can confirm that they are silent - no fans 10 gigabit ports, 8 PoE, 2 non PoE dual personality ports. I think the 1910 HP switches are rebadged 3Com switches, but don't quote me on that. We've avoided them to get proper HP ProCurves.

UniFi is definitely worth looking at. We bought a 3 pack to trial in our environment and prove it was a workable solution to SLT and then proceeded to buy many more 3 packs! Here we are now just less than a year later:

Replaced all the HDDs in our IT suites with SSDs and rebuilt the computers as 64bit Windows 7 rather than 32bit. Replaced a few projectors. Moved a few computers around. Installed more access points. Set up some more point-to-point links. Looked at the Smoothwall BYOD offering before finding out it's not suitable for users with Windows 7. Upgraded Veeam from 6.5 to 7 with support for tape libraries so we can now ditch Symantec BE. Tidied up the switch cabinets and prepared switches for our VOIP system. VOIP installation started today - meant to be all done by results day this week! Still got to create user accounts for the new students.

You should be able to create 3 partitions, install 3 copies of Windows normally and then SmartClient one of the Windows 7 instances giving you a CC4 machine.

Could you use some sort of wireless HDMI sender like this C2G CablesToGo TruLink ? Then you just plug the USB dongle thing into the computer (obviously the drivers will need to be installed first) you want to project on to the screen.

I think @mrbios has some custom setup in his IT labs with the PCs mounted behind panels so they are inaccessible to pupils with USB/audio extensions and buttons on the desk. Can't find the post where he posted all the info about it though...

Newer radio mics from the likes of Sennheiser and Shure use a couple of AA batteries and last ages so it's not so expensive when you're putting a new pair in for each show.

Speak to some companies about managed print contracts. They provide the printers for free, supply you with toner and fix any issues that occur. You then just pay so much per page. Depending on how much you're printing and what your current printer fleet is it could work out cheaper. I've used Complete - Managed Print Services Birmingham l London l Manchester | Cambridge | Southampton who are based in Birmingham. There'll be plenty of other companies also.

Can you get 1 pair fibre? If you got 4 or 8 core fibre you could use two pairs to have 2x 1GB links if you need the extra bandwidth and would allow for a pair failing.

I believe RM have a Blueprint for Virtualbox also. There's been quite a bit of talk on the Communities about it recently.

I've never come across a Bose controller being used with 802's. You should be fine without it. I'd personally buy new speakers instead of replacing the Bose controller.
