If you go into the RMMC and look under User Policies, select the relevant policy, then under the section you can set program to run after logon. That's how I set the client to start on logon. Hope this helps.

I'd recommend the Casio XJ-M140 LED projectors. Run HDMI to them for the Apple TV, and VGA and 3.5mm jack for audio, then a 3.5mm jack out of the projector to your amp for audio. Then if you select the HDMI input you'll get your Apple TV displayed on the projector and sound sent out via the 3.5mm jack to your amp and speakers. Chris

I've heard of places buying new kettles/microwaves each year to avoid this!! If you follow the HSE guidelines lots of your IT equipment doesn't need to be tested every year (PCs every 2-4 years).

Casio XJ-M130/M140. Great projectors. We've had a load installed. Throw distances are great so they can replace many existing projectors with minimal fuss. 5 year edu warranty. I'd expect them to last longer than that... not had one long enough to find out though!!

Eeek! We've deployed a load of standard UniFi APs across our sites (with very good results) using HP PoE Switches with the Ubiquiti inline adapters. We've had one fail so far... Should we be expecting a lot more of them to fail?!

ML-3710ND by any chance with CC4? I found it was only students that couldn't print multiple copies. Staff could print multiple copies ok. I think Samsung eventually released an updated driver that worked.

Is this issue with Kyocera printers?

We ran PaperCut on a CC4 network. I think it disabled the RM printer credits services. I ran the client from a the network share, and like others just edited the registry policies to run it on logon (minimized for staff and open for students).

Like others have said, the licensing is the issue with that. Smartboards you have 4x pens and a rubber which makes them much more friendly for teachers not having to use the pen to select a different colour/tool.

We've got a couple fitted. They're fine as a projector. The interactivity lets them down though - especially the software. It's much more inferior compared to the Smart and Promethean software. IMHO you're better off going for a non-interactive projector and a decent board.

Out of interest why wouldn't you use UniFi in this scenario? Sounds like you could have a UniFi AP connected to the router.. then have another UAP connected wirelessly to the first UAP to avoid running more cables?

Stone have various price lists available which are good for a rough guide then you can phone up and say you'd like so many certain PCs with extra memory, no DVD drives etc.. their prices always seem very competitive first time round for me and they're always very quick if you ask them to make amendments to quotes (i.e. larger screens, faster HDD's). International boarding students. Skype is a much cheaper option for them.

We do pretty much the same as Netman. A few networked PC's and a printer in each boarding house for communal use and then network sockets to each room for boarders to connect their own laptops to (will be rolling out a UniFi solution this year). The boarders are on a separate VLAN that has no access to our internal resources. Internet access is done through our Smoothwall with an SSL login page that authenticates them against AD for filtering/monitoring purposes.

Do you have a decent understanding of AD and other server roles? Knowing the basics of a standard Windows client/server network is a good starting place..

We found issues with the universal driver not letting people print colour on the colour printers. If you still have issues with the KX driver try the KPDL

We had a migration to CC4.3 with 2008 R2 servers over the summer and have had many problems with slow printing and printers not mapping. We found that using the Kyocera universal driver and the KX driver resulted in the printers mapping slowly (or not at all) and taking a long time to print. We've now moved nearly all over the KPDL versions of the driver if available. These seem to have the printers mapping and printing much quicker!

Interesting... I've found that the throw distances on Casios (XJ-M and XJ-A series) has always been superb. What projectors are these replacing?
