According to Microsoft support for Server 2003 ends mid July 2015 so you've got a bit of time to decide what to do before then.

I was contacted by Laptop for Teachers a couple of years ago... I was a little sceptical about it, rang up a couple of the schools on the testimonies page, most of the people on there had moved on, only spoke to one person who had used Laptop for Teachers to get rid of some old laptops and they had good things to say about them.

What sort of bandwidth do you need? We went for the NanoStations as we didn't really need gigabit speeds.

Another vote for UniFi... it just works! There is no hardware controller. Just a service that can run on Windows/Linux/OS X, we have ours running on a Windows virtual server. You can run it on the cloud such as on the Amazon cloud services. Many of the features of the UniFi system work even when the controller isn't running, including zero handoff.

We usually use CPC. They have a good range of projector mounts and brackets. The Sahara 1m kit normally works well in our classrooms.

I've had some of the Stone laptops and netbooks, cheap OEM laptops branded with Stone badges. Had a bad batch of netbooks, about half had the motherboard replaced. Laptops, the build quality was poor and staff abused them. Fortunately they weren't too expensive to repair. Now I only buy branded laptops.

Hi all! We have a relatively large network made up of HP ProCurve switches, predominantly 1800G and 2520G's with a 5406zl core. We're looking to add another VLAN for wireless purposes but wondered if there was an easier way to add the VLAN to all switches rather than manually logging on to each switch to add the VLAN? We do morning and afternoon registers, either directly on our MIS or on paper and then an admin person manually enters them. There's still an awful lot of paper forms that students sign when coming to/from boarding houses so in the event of a fire we would know what building they are in.

I'm going to echo what Giblets said... are you going to upgrade all of your computers to Windows 7 64bit? I personally wouldn't run a mix of architecture as you can end up with some profile issues. For example where users have pinned a program on a 64bit machine, the shortcut might be looking at C:\Program Files(x86)\random program\program.exe whereas on the 32bit machine the program is located in C:\Program Files\random program\program.exe.

I've been looking at the offering from Ubiquiti - mFi. Could get an mPort, and temperature sensor for less than £100. Could then add another two sensors to the mPort to make more use of it such as a PIR/door sensor so we could log when the server room door is opened or movement in there, or a current sensor so we can monitor power usage of the UPS and equipment.

If you connect one fixture to the desk, set the dip switches 1 to on and all the others to off, that might set it to DMX address 1 (based on manuals for other cheap LED par cans). Then on the desk if you put up various faders do you get any light? They're probably use 5 or 6 channels, red, green, blue, shutter, intensity or something like that, so you might need to put channel 5 on, along with channel 1 to get red if you follow?

Have you made sure the dip switches on the fixture are set to DMX address 1 and DMX enabled. There's usually either a switch at the start/end that tells the fixture to listen to DMX signals or to do it's own preset modes.

We have quite a large fleet of Kyocera printers. On the whole they are pretty good, some have lasted pretty well and are still going strong after 7-8 years! If you're on a managed print contract then you shouldn't have too much trouble as all servicing will be covered.

Take a look at the Zero 88 Chilli dimmers (install dimmers) along with the Chilli panel if you're looking to replace your dimmers and want a simple way for anybody to turn the lights on to one of a few presets you can program.

Do VMware have a Linux client for vSphere?
