We've recently got a Iiyama 42" multi-touch screen, partly because it came out cheaper than a IWB and projector, and it was going to be easier to install lower down for the children in reception to use and be able to make use of the whole interactive area. I saw a picture of a Promethean board online and the children can only make use of half the board!! (source: Using Interactive Whiteboards with young children | Technowellies Weblog) As others have said, much crisper and brighter than projectors.

I use Ubiquiti equipment at work and love it. I think it's a little overkill for my home though. I use one of these access points, great coverage and very reliable. TP-LINK TL-WA901ND Wireless-N PoE Access Point (300Mbps)

That looks pretty poor. The food here is pretty good. Was shepherds pie, veg and potatoes, apple crumble and custard for lunch. Tea is DIY chicken fajitas, tempted to stay for that mmm!

I think the few 380Z's we have will be more likely a collectors item than 300 mediocre RM Ones!

I've got one of the newest RM Ones (EcoQuiet!) that were purchased before I started. i3 2120T, 19" widescreen. Upgraded to 20GB of RAM and a 120GB SSD and a 22" second monitor.

I attended one of their webinars and got a free AP. Phoned them after the webinar and gave them the school details, explained we weren't VAT registered (which was fine). The MR12 AP was delivered a few weeks later.

We've got one currently, which is a web server. Will hopefully be moving the finance system to a new 2012 server soon. Not got any plans for the rest yet. Are doing in place upgrades from 2008 R2 to 2012/R2 or migrating the data/apps to new servers?

We have individual login for years 1 upwards. Their usernames are f.last or first.last if there is a duplicate. Passwords are set to 1, 2, 3 etc depending on what year group they are in. We disable changing passwords until they are in year 5. Rarely hear any problems about kids logging in.

When I was working at the local council a few years back they were paying for internet connections at the councillors homes as they used a council provided laptop at home. There were limitations with this as they were only allowed to use the connection for work purposes. Also, calling the ISPs to troubleshoot internet problems with a connection in somebody else's home is a real problem!

All classrooms and admin offices have fixed desktops. There's desktops in the staffroom for preparing work etc also. Terminal servers available for accessing school resources from home. We have around 10 laptops here. Where SLT have wanted a laptop we've stipulated that it will replace their desktop and given them a dock and larger screen. So much more reliable than dishing out laptops and expecting the staff to bring them in each day, and then moan that they have a better laptop at home. I'm sorry but I'm not given enough budget to replace them as often as you might like.

With our Kramer switcher/scalers they have a freeze function, although they cost about as much as a new projector, I'm not sure what smaller switchers they make with less inputs though.

Had one from them at my last school. It was a decent little server based around Intel parts so compatibility wasn't an issue. Just looking at potentially getting a couple more now.

We used to use Veeam for D2D, and then Backup Exec for D2T. Now that Veaam Backup and Replication 7 support tape drives/libraries we've ditched Backup Exec and are using Veeam for the whole thing. So much simpler and Veeam support are very quick and helpful

I think it probably depends on what type of school you work in. If you were working in a PRU, or a school with gang/weapon problems with metal detectors and police on site then it would be sensible not to carry one with you.

We're licensing our servers as part of our EES agreement. We have 3x ESXi hosts with 2 processors so 3x Server 2012 Datacenter licenses cover us as each Datacenter license covers 2 processors. If your physical servers each have 2x processors and your ESXi hosts each have 2x processors you're probably best licensing 5x copies of 2012 Datacenter and 5x copies of 2012 Standard. I think the Datacenter licenses are around £100 p/a and the Standard licenses are somewhere between £25-50 p/a. Your best bet would be to speak to the company that you get your EES agreement from.

We use UniFi, not on the poll so I voted other.

I think I imported a custom registry fragment to show these. I think there's some information on the RM knowledge library and communities.

They seem ok on the whole. We've had to chase a couple of RMAs up with them but once they've processed them we've had replacement parts out pretty soon.

We've recently had all our big school signs re-done with a pretty big mistake on them that nobody had noticed until I pointed it out
