At the minute we use RDP shortcuts that launch SIMS when the user logs in. They have to log into the terminal server and then log into SIMS which is a bit of a pain still... RemoteApp would remove the need to log into the terminal server first.

You can do it in CC4 without any additional scripts (not sure what you're running though).

Ah, I thought that might be the case. I'll look at the possibility of upgrading. I think the server license might be for 2008 if not 2008 R2 but just downgraded to 2003. Was yours in an RM environment or vanilla?

Are you able to run TS RemoteApp in a Server 2003 environment? It's something I'm looking at doing rather than having staff log into the terminal server before launching SIMS.

Thanks for the information. I think we will be going down the Select agreement route. From what I've read on here, you need to have a lot of computers and/or be using a lot of Microsoft products to make some of the other licensing agreements viable options.

Is this just for new students? We found that if students had come from primary schools that used Kaleidos then you had to approve them in a different section to where you download the rest of your class lists.

Thanks for the clarification and information about the different licensing agreements. I think the Select Agreement is the one that we'll probably end up buying through. can you recommend any good companies to buy from? I've had a look at Viglen and can only find information about agreements where you have to renew annually.

Another vote for Moodle here. The fact that it integrates with AD is pretty good, unlike RM's offering that they call a VLE . I think it's based on Sharepoint also.

Hi all, I'm new to educational licensing so go easy on me please I'm looking into the cost of purchasing Office 2010 Pro Plus and the best way to go about it. I've had a look on Pugh and it seems like I can get it for £37.60 per computer. So there's about 250 computers in the school so it would be £9400, one off payment. And that would entitle me to install Office 2010 on computers in the school, and also downgrade to 2007/2003? Do you have to purchase a certain number of licenses to be eligible for this type of license? Thanks.

We've been told that along with update 85 fixing various issues that it brings a whole load more. We're going to hold back before installing it.

That's pretty good. I noticed on the RM site you can save £75 on an RM One if you trade in an old PC, I can't find any information about what they won't accept as I'm pretty sure there's a few 486 PC's hiding around the school...

We must be really lucky, over the summer we've had 4 new servers. They should hopefully keep the network running smoothly for quite a few years to come. They're all working nicely at the minute but I'm sure a few issues will occur in September once everybody is back .

We're going to CC4 from CC3 and building the school workstations to XP. So far it's all going smooth .
