You could trade them in with RM and save money on new RM One's. From reading the terms and conditions they just have to be working, I haven't seen anything that states a minimum specification. ScrapIT

I agree with the XP comment. I'm building a few workstations to Windows 7 to test our packages on before we make the move to Windows 7 hopefully later this year. So far most of the packages have gone on without any problems.

Thanks for this John! I don't understand why RM didn't leave it how it was in CC3 with the proper folder names... With CC4 I find myself searching the filestore to try and find the right folder.

Insight were pretty helpful giving some advice on the whole EES agreement and gave a good price for the separate products.

Seen this on about 5 computers so far. A couple at school and a few on peoples home computers. Had it on both XP and Vista. Used MalwareBytes to remove it in safe mode.

I've got an HP ProLiant DL100 G2 Storage Server. It's a 1u rackmount server supporting 4 drives and came pre-installed with Storage Server 2003. I'm not sure if they have a newer version available?

I've been trying to crack this but still had no luck! I've tried using tftpd32 as the tftp server on a regular XP install with no firewall and still no luck. I've followed the guide here and my set up is the same but I am still unable to tftp boot http://www.edugeek.net/forums/thin-client-virtual-machines/70852-thinstation-problem-getting-global-configuration.html#post632197 The computers get their IP from the DHCP server but then timeout when trying to locate the tftp server.

Was your CC4 network an upgrade from CC3 or was it a clean install? We've done updates 94 and 95 and not had any problems. Just did the core updates on the workstations rather than going around rebuilding everything.. We haven't core updated all the laptops yet as teachers are prone to randomly turning them off so we're doing them as and when we have them in the office! Occasionally get a workstation that displays no printers but logging off/on solves that.

You don't have UPS's on your servers?

After speaking to Sparkeh about CC4 and XP v Vista I'd been meaning to build a few Vista machines to compare logon times etc. Perhaps it's a good job I haven't done this so far... Shall just have to wait and see about upgrading to 7 then, if there's money for licenses. I notice that RM are now doing an RM One value which comes with no monitor?

I thought that the age limit only applies in the US?

We've used these Sahara mounts also and had all the screws and bits required to mount the Casio projectors.

I changed option 66 to the IP and the client timed out again. I'll try setting up a TFTP server on a regular workstation to see if it's a restriction on the server.

It's to do with the driver for the touchscreen. See if you can download an updated version. My Samsung Q1 displays the keyboard everytime and Windows 7 recognises it as being a touchscreen rather than a generic input device.

I start the TFTP service so I assume that it's alive? I believe the Windows firewall is disabled so that shouldn't be blocking it. @Nat, I did look at that RIS guide from Thinstation but I don't think it's actually using the whole RIS service, just the TFTP part of it. On the RM communities nobody mentioned editing all the RIS configuration as stated in that doc.

The PXE client gets an IP from the DHCP server but it then times out when trying to locate the TFTP server/file. Option 66 is set to one of the hostnames of the terminal server, option 67 is set to pxelinux.0

Hi all. I've done a few searches on this topic, tried a few things mentioned but I've still not had any luck. I'm trying to get some old computers to load thinstation over the network and connect to a terminal server. Options 66 and 67 are set on the DHCP server and the TFtpD service (part of RIS I think) is started on the terminal server but the machines just timeout when trying to find the TFtp server. Any help would be much appreciated. Chris

I don't love or hate Macs. I use Windows at home and support a Windows network at work (with a few Macs). I would definitely consider a Macbook as my next laptop as they have good build quality, compact size, good specs and OS X which I'd like to learn how to use better. They're also reasonably priced and have good educational discounts and hold their value very well. One thing I hate is people who compare a base spec cheap plasticy 15" laptop to 13.3" Macbook Pro. Miniaturisation costs money. When you start trying to find a 13.3" laptop with the same specs as a Macbook you'll realise that they're not so much of a rip off.
