  1. What kind of money we looking at? Does it include expenses if travelling from, say, northampton?
  2. Have you thought about setting up your own FREE Moodle VLE? Perhaps even having a look at what YOU need to do as a company to put resources that may be used rather than brushed past like the thousands of other websites that offer exactly the same as you? What can YOU do, rather than asking us to document it.....no offence.
  3. Not sure why you can't simply release SCORM content. As you've setup a website I'm sure you are able to use simple software like Xerte to create SCORM files. People don't really want to rely on other websites / they want the content themselves. If you resources are good then let people who buy them do what they want, what suits them, not suits you. Sorry I just believe in SCORM and not signing up to more websites that we have to create thousands of usernames, moderate a new resource when we already have something that provides all this. MOODLE + SCORMS = Simple
  4. Good spot mate, doesn't look like a bad buy at all. Shall pass on. Many thanks
  5. I parp in your general direction, your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries! *french accent*
  6. I think you need a pipe and slippers with that! If your taste isn't to the majority then yes you tend to have to look elsewhere "BBC 1 IS FULL OF MUCK, IT SHOULD BE THE MUSIC I LIKE!"
  7. Need's Windows XP Pro Decent amount of storage (250 ish) At least 2 Gig RAM Dual core processor Decent screen size - 15"+ Built in wireless CD/DVD Writer Needs to be under £370 each!
  8. Wow! You lot are getting old :/
  9. You need a copy of Trials HD, brilliant game
  10. We've had Moodle in place since Feb last year and it's been fantastic, however the blogging and instant messaging had to be disabled because that is all the kids did during lessons. I don't particularly want to allow the blogging feature again because it is too hard to control from my office - classroom control would be better but well you can't have it all can you. Was thinking of using blogmeister as it offers some control from the teachers POV, teacher maintains publishing control over what children write. Which is exactly what I am looking for. After this first use we will perhaps do it for a couple more years and then have a good document to publish RE: FAQ's. Forum would also be a pretty good idea but again I don't have the time to train. This blogmeister seems a much easier approach to what should be a simple task.
  11. Saw quite a few Chrome billboards on the way down to BETT, think they had a billboard in my home town too
  12. Hi guys, it's been a while unfortunately! Ok, I've been asked by our business manager if it is possible to provide a blog feature for our Year 7 > Year 6 (transition day pupils) to let them ask questions and for the Year 7's to answer. The business manager asked if this was possible to use within Moodle and I came up with a few reasons why it shouldn't although it would be handy to use Moodle for this kind of thing. Reasons why not - Usernames & Passwords - Have to be setup for each transition day pupil Monitoring - Making sure blogs aren't abused. Moodle - Not easy to navigate for blogs and leaving the blogs open for all to view may give all students the opportunity to voice an opinion - not neccesarily a good thing. Never used Moodle - Would need introductions to Moodle which may take up time teachers would want for something else. Reasons for - Keeps everything in one place without using other means (although other means would involve similar password/username issues). Getting the kids used to Moodle as I hope we will continue to use Moodle in the new year (Academy change year). We don't have to implement new/more resources to learn/teach staff and students. In general I'm not sure where I can go with this. Has anyone done anything like this in Moodle before and does anyone use anything else (preferably free and with good child protection). I previously used an email system which was free which allowed children to send emails to other students, all emails went through the admins/teachers to allow the emails to be received by the student. Does this sound easier and more viable. It's early stages of the project, just trying to gather more opinions from the great Edugeekers. Thanks for your time. Steve
  13. Limby looks like another advent monkey on the loose. They are splattered all over tech forums if anyone mentions advent in any bad light. Do not go with advent they have gone into insolvency and will probably start another company and do the same thing.
  14. The saga continues.... Unable to contact any of the numbers provided. With the student finance company or Advent consulting/training etc. Finance company looks like a complete joke to me and I'll be amazed if anyone sees any compensation at all. I'm so annoyed.
  15. Been paying three years and only achieved A+. Not through lack of effort, just had so much on with work and the business. So gutted, have contacted consumer direct to see if theres anything that can be done. Will keep you updated
  16. Like moi?
  17. Are going out of business according to an email I was just sent. Please do not sign up with them as they are rediculous in all that they do. One very unhappy bunny.
  18. Anything like beta-blockers will upset the body short term. Long term however it should do exactly what it needs to. I've taken similar medication for other ailments, perhaps give it another few days and then pop back to your doc to describe the side effect. He/she may recommend a different drug
  19. Couldnt agree more syn. I'm not a big jargon buster at the best of times, 'thingies and wotsits' (not the cheesey ones). You just have to speak english to people. At the end of the day, they don't care whether your AVG is better than your McAfee as long as it "ent poppin up with that bloomin 'buy me' webpage mcDizzle every 2 minutes". Simply explain how to avoid it in the future! "Don't press that me old china ;)" usually works. I really do love my job though!
  20. Great idea guys. The jobs do get lost pretty easily and I'm sure you could gain financial interest from various recruiting agencies, and if not financial would certainly increase memberships!
  21. I think most phones are like that at the minute. Windows 7 was a bit of a b*g**** with this Android handset but managed to get the bits needed. Google is marvellous
  22. I like that..... a lot. Please have that on a banner next year at BETT That sums it up completely for me Edugeek.....where knowledge and opinion counts.
  23. Please buy yourself something Android'y before you get a rope! Lol
  24. It does take time to get up the rankings but with the correct meta data it's usually up top in a couple of weeks. There are a few school names with 'St Mary' etc so that may be the problem. If you are getting complaints about google, perhaps put a suggestion leaflet out to parents to refine their search or make the site a favourite. It is also worth getting a few external links and registering with your county system (information for parents) type website. I know Northants has the facility. Good luck and best wishes
  25. It takes a long time to be that 'word-of mouth' - Year 2 for myself, still not loads of business. I work full time also and refuse to spend money on the business unless it pays for itself. Which is probably the downfall, but hey I'm still here after 2 years and I've been trying hard to build the reputation. It's a tough game, if you can't be flexible with your time then you really will struggle. I hope if you do decide to that you have the drive because it does take a lot to keep the motivation when the business isn't there. Good luck and best wishes
