You've used a conversion tool to virtualise? That's my point You virtualise because it's easier to manage and work with then physical servers. It's like the situation with Management Servers / DC's being kept as physical, if you are willing to put your servers into a virtualised solution and utilise HA/FT then why not virtualise the DC too? Not saying you can't use other methods, but save yourself time, an easier to manage network/IT infrastructure is better for everyone as you can start implementing those bells and whistles rather than living in an age of soldering components (I'm joking)

Virtualisation is so much better than physical, you may well sit with a server that has worked for 30 years, but virtualisation brings massive benefits, not just in a scenario of disaster. I need to test something, I need to fire up 'something' temporarily, I don't need to reinvent the wheel all the time, find a place for more kit, I can simply give it bugger all resource and have unique machine to work on. Physical is so far gone now i find it hilarious it's still even a thing! Granted the education sector tend to bleed resources dry and budgets are a key factor, but why have a tremendously difficult summer migrating physical to physical when the need arises? Kit is NOT the be all and end all any more and we need to embrace virtualisation as a massive time saver? I don't know many IT techs who complain about having too much time? Something not working right? Fire up a snapshot as a unique machine and work on the 'ACTUAL' problem rather than trying to recreate?

Managed to get my hands on a Linx and was very impressed with it, also allows management and familiarity with desktops. Not a fan of going cheap and cheerful on those kinds of devices as you pay what you get in most cases, the Linx sounds quite competitively priced and is quite comfortable to use (Galaxy Tab ish) Good luck!

Guy, sorry to hear that mate, odd that the 'better' version of the low-end laptops are the problem! Very strange Do you have any technical details that have pointed you in the direction of firmware, I'd be happy to speak to someone to see if there is an exact resolution to this problem, definitely get the firmware updated but I can tap into someone at Fujitsu to see if this is a known issue and hopefully provide a resolution? Haha @clockend Those the exact ones I was talking about with the 'bad rep' and you need a few more R's on your arrrrgh Thanks for the continued feedback, much appreciated @witch I'm glad the issues weren't related as personally I have found all their kit to be great, it's just some of them look a bit, as @Chuckster said, bulky. However, those tend to be at the lower end of the market, their Premium range is pretty nice, thin, light and powerful machines with some funky touch technology. Noted - I have found they have put a lot of 'tech' into some of their laptops without any consideration to the Operating System / software that will actually utilise it. I understand they have put a lot of R&D into their biometrics and palm reading is definitely their thing over the next year at least, this is already in place in some of the higher end machines. I appreciate where you are coming, has this stopped you from buying more of theses or is it something you have been easily been able to disable/get passed and continue as normal?

@Oaktech is this a particular model, I have found that their lower end models do have some oddities. What kind of hardware are you referring to? IO ports? Desktops do seem to have good feedback

I've not seen the same legacy issues that the education arena had in the private sector. @witch - are you able to elaborate on the issues you experienced? Generally, it sounds like although warranties were in place there were very few issues as to needing to call them? However, when you did it was a little clunky in getting it resolved.....was this more recent or maybe a few years ago? The reason I ask as I understand investment has taken place in this side of their business and as such I'm hoping there will be more recent positive experiences. Thanks Steve

Afternoon all, I was hoping to find a 'poll' function, but gave up looking so just wanted to find out a little feedback on what people think of Fujitsu and their current products. Just looking to begin some market research into the Fujitsu brand and whether it would be something you'd welcome through your doors, or if the sour taste of the laptop debacle from some time ago has made it an unwelcome brand? Not trying to influence or push anything, I'm just intrigued to see whether Fujitsu is something people have had a look at recently, if so / if not, if you can elaborate on why? What do you current vendors provide that keep you attached, or is it just the case of upping sticks and moving to another vendor being far too much work on your images? roll back your driver to an earlier date, if not - download a known legacy version of the driver that people have said 'works' (usually forums around) You may also need any updates the game has - check this also.
