  1. Yeah fake emails would work, very little comes back from Moodle to these accounts, you can always change passwords within moodle so wouldn't be a problem for forgotten passwords. Are you in a primary school? If so how is Moodle working out for you?
  2. 18! *smack* :/
  3. You have to just ignore it, everyone gets things like that now and again. If they find its actually getting to you, you'll soon find its not just a handful but a lot more of the school. They like to share these things. Just ignore them and go about your business. Who has time for silly kids?
  4. I wouldn't say no to a few beers ....and to meet some other people from here of course Cheers!
  5. Favourite scene..... i can only pick one! Hmm very tough but i think I'm going to have to go for any of the fight scenes in Matrix (ses) Love em *does a kung fu move to make a point*
  6. Hi guys, Just had an SLT guy pop in and he is having problems opening his Word documents from his memory stick. Opening word from the start menu and then opening the file from within Word itself works fine but when trying to open directly (double click on file) it comes up with the error; "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is opened" Any ideas? I've looked on KB and it mentioned something about renaming officeav.dll but as we dont have Norton installed its not there? Not quite sure what can be done at the minute, any pointers or advice from people who've had a similar situation would be very welcome. Many thanks
  7. I've also got 6 invites left, let me know in pm if you need one
  8. It's generally good etiquette to introduce yourself to the forum before advertising your services.
  9. HTC Android ones are pretty sweet, I have the Tattoo, but its more for social networking really. Sad git I am
  10. Do not use Advent Training for any of your courses ever. Their terms & conditions are a scam, pushy salesmen, useless course support, general lack of intelligence from training staff and they give you rubbish as resources.
  11. ActiveTeach / ActiveBook - paid for solutions? Linkage?
  12. Always charge something, even if its a bar of chocolate. You don't want to be the guy who does everything for free, you may bite off more than you can chew. Don't they gossip!
  13. Did one a few years back (centurian) ran out of beer at about 70 odd so we had to make up a huge jug of vodka and coke and went to 127. Wasn't very well the next day, have no idea why
  14. The ability to be qualified in whatever subject the teacher has a degree in as well as the our own subject (IT)
  15. Not everyone has the capacity to live within their means. As for how much they charge for a piece of paper to be sent + interest is rediculous. But it makes the banks 2.8 billion a year so i guess the people who get themselves in those situations should be punished! MISTAKES WITH MONEY SHALL NOT BE TOLERATED.... wait.... didn't the government just bail out the banks..... Hmmmmmmmmm.
  16. We had a go at sorting some CleverTouch boards and although fiddly it is very worth (from a 'value for money' point of view) having a go at repairing them, you aren't making it any worse if you do need an engineer in. If it works, bonus
  17. think its found under etc etc
  18. Barney there are some things that take a while to index, it depends whether you are reading internally or through the 'www'. Sometimes a file i upload can be indexed immediatly but when I go to change the file out it can take upto a day for the file to be changed through cache. It's just getting used to which actions are immediate and which are not. Although like you sometimes it throws me a curve ball and i sit scratching my head for a while then move on with something else
  19. sneaky sneaky
  20. It should index them, courses are refreshed often for new files. Using the ftp doesn't make them anymore invisible. FTP is the way forward for us admins though, feel sorry for teachers who upload file after file, I think Moodle could really do with a 'Facebook - Upload Photo' type module, where things are uploaded, you then decide what to do with each file. Theres still a lot of faffing in Moodle I think (although I stand by it as the platform to use)
  21. Thumbs up for the Samsung F3, putting in a load of other decent components and being held back by the slowest part even more so will be just darn frustrating! £15 is nothing in the context of things. That and if using Windows 7, try your hardest to get 4 gig ram! You know it makes sense
  22. Sorry no excuse, it is illegal, the teacher has taken it upon themselves to make a 'quick fix' lesson whereby they do not need to collect materials, simply ask the kids to do it all for them. Teachers should provide the legal copies of tunes for the kids to use. It should come out of the faculty budget. They know it isnt legal but they will moan about it anyway because it's now been made their problem. They try it on simply.
  23. Are they invoicing both the school and the LA thus the 'shady' feedback? Would be worth contacting someone at the LA
  24. ABTutor does this and can allow teachers control of classroom computers too. Logmein isnt really ideal for a school setting. Look in the Network and Classroom Management forum for many different options.
  25. I think the term "value for money" needs to be used in its correct meaning in this case. You have created a website? He likes it? What more does he want? Any additional features above and beyond that will surely be met in learning platforms etc? I agree completely with Ric_ on this one. Baffling, totally baffling. If you can find out what more he wants from your site i'm sure a few of us will be able to help. You can always give me a call if you'd like some advice, website details on the left. Not interested in selling you anything, I just feel it's a bit much of a muchness in this case :/
