Depends on how much you earn extra through the job as to whether you pay additional NI, if you earn under 3k a year from your 'extra curricular' you will be able to complete a self-exemption form by sending a letter to HM Rev declaring your earnings and how you do not meet the threshold. Wise if you are starting up and do not have a huge customer base, as of yet.

That's perfectly fine under a free-spending labour government though! "It is a right to have child benefit!" Is exactly what has been bred into society. People need to start being responsible for themselves instead of relying on the country to bail them out all the time. Lose your job > Get a new one (there are plenty out there!) Have a child > Pay for it! *When I say pay for it I don't mean in a "that will teach you" kind of way lol, kids are great and can't wait to have one of my own!

Totally agree, they jumped on the capitalism that the Americans love and so increased the divide that will take years to sort out. I agree it isn't fair Witch but since when has it been fair to live in this country, I still prefer it is the 'well off' that suffer a little more than the people who just manage to get by.

Aww poor Family 2 on their £45,000 a year job My girlfriend pays her mortgage, raises a fantastic lad, she pays her bills, maintains her own house, has time and money for her son and all this paid on a 30 hour a week teaching assistant wage. (tax credits and child benefit) I have no sympathy for people earning £45,000 and not being given a bonus paid for by tax payers.

I feel for you on the Advent front, I was also scammed out of £4000, has made this year tough with regards to deciding where to go next. I just think that if people are earning over £45k a year on their own or as a joint income, then it is more then enough to be able to do without. That is a lot of money and would adiquately pay all bills and have plenty to enjoy life. I think the greed has blinded some people.

I think too many people expect things. They now have it in their mind that they are entitled to benefits, when in fact a majority don't even need them. "But it's nice to have that little extra" I'm afraid to say that the previous government has made things so bad that we can no longer afford (as a country) to have a little extra. Yes we all loved the lavish free spending government, but look where we are now. It's not a human right it is a 'bonus'. A quote I found from last year - "Treasury figures show that welfare payments will exceed income tax receipts by almost £25 billion" A £25 BILLION defecit! Scrap it all!

Unfortunately something has to be done, this currently doesnt effect me but at the same time, I'd be willing to do my bit in order to get things back on track. People can moan and moan about it effecting some and not others because of x,y and z but in the end I'd rather see people with large incomes be hit then the same people who just scrape by, which has always been kicked in the nads time and time again.

So rather then ask the community, put something back and write a report on HOW and WHY it worked in those acadamies. I anticipate your report Steve

It's probably because you have trolled the website promoting software that actually has nothing to do with anti-bullying, you've just used it as an excuse to show off the software you make. (No I haven't forgotten your previous post this morning about the same thing) I'm just offended at how deviously you use anti-bullying to promote software. Perhaps some time in the education sector as a teaching assistant may wake you up to the actual day to day of this problem, rather then saying 'oh this company does anti-bullying software' when in fact you don't, you just have a mail logging system. BIG WHOOP.

Cyber bullying is, the majority of the time, outside of school where there are no filters for the internet at home or blocks on instant messaging services. There is no software that has been or will be made to combat and eradicate 'cyber bullying', as for any types of bullying it is down to education.

Had exactly the same problem after spending an afternoon making sure all the school computers were up-to-date only to find it wouldnt work with a certain patch. Was fuming!!!! Personally I don't think they are that brilliant, some issues with county filtering, logging onto the filtering service for kids to use email only allows 1 student to login on 3 PC's. Unfortunately it was the headteacher of the primary school that really wanted them so I just had to make do with what was there.

Have a word with the 'Cutter Project' - we use them for our maintenance contract for Moodle. kmount on these forums works for them and has been a true legend.

Being unqualified doesn't make you rubbish at the job, it's just a way of the unions. ECDL / Ingots / CompTIA certs - worth looking into any of those as its reasonably easy to become an 'instructor' without having to go down the PGCE route.

Agree with you LeMarchand, very much of a muchness when it comes to primary schools and until it is possible to incorporate it into the day to day workings then I'm afraid it is tough to keep teachers 'with it'. Secondary is a different ball game with regard to VLE's. Moodle is a growing success here and will continue to progress, that's the beauty of it.

Voted 5 stars as its brilliant as always, shall perhaps look to use it with the new academy status. We shall see....!!
