Load Balancing Terminal Services 2003 - Best Method ?
2097 replied to 2097's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Thanks for all the advice ! Yes we are using Enterprise Edition of 2003 , the current VM has only 12gb of ram and really does slow down at the weekend when it gets hit hard ! The new server was originally bought for myself ! but at £200 and all it needs is a couple of SSD's and will make a great terminal server . with regards to Upgrading to Server 2008 , We are actually server 2008 but all our clients are XP atm untill we buy the last lot of new machines next year . Dont want to be dealing with multiple profile types so will leave on 2003 for the time being . Many thanks 2097 -
What is the best method to spread the load of Multiple users ? We currently use terminal services as a Remote Desktop type access for kids , normally at the weekend we can expect up to around 50 kids using it at any given time . Because of the high usage we ideally wanted to spread the load between Our current VM and a physical server which is a dual Xeon with 16gb ram . Has any one done this at there school ? Did you use the "Terminal Services Session Directory" Many thanks 2097

indeed we have had many pc's here that if they arnt getting a IP , you disconnected the plug from the socket and wait 10 secs and reconnect and it all works good

Time Server DNS Issue: Help in Diagnosis Needed
2097 replied to Andie's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Is the Proxy you have in IE provided by your ISP or local authority ? Like i said before up there , we had a problem emailing some domains . Turned out it was a routing issue and was nothing to do with our network . -

out of interest , does you ISp provider provide a Proxy for web browsing ? ( our local authority did ) we had the same thing , our exchange server was rejecting mail to certain places etc .. And running a trace to that server would timeout on certain hops . But ! web browsing was fine as it was going straight through to there proxys . -
Service running ?

Thats cool , Any reason why ? do you plan on implementing it fully ? I think it would be a GREAT feature , and something i myself have been looking years for The only thing i could see lacking in the current setup was the ability to attach files to the Homework . It allows you currently to say what the homework is for e.g. " design a website using notepad" but you cant add any documentation as a download . SO even though you can actually set the homework you cant give them any resources if that makes any sense .

Nick , I must save i fell in love even more with HAP+ when i saw you have a homework upload part in HAP+ Whats the current status of this ? i gave it a test in 8.4 , seems to work fine but seems to be missing a few features etc ( i assume its in the early stages ? ) Btw must say again , GREAT ! program . Thanks 2097

Normally when an account has been deleted it displays the SID instead of the username . As its a domain trust , i would assume there's either a Trust linkage problem , firewall issue or an AD malfunction ? Have you rebooted both servers and checked all event logs ?

Sophos Enterprise Console not working
2097 replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Indeed , seen this before after something took over its port , Check services and if a service is not running try and start . If it does not start check using cmd prompt what service is occupying the port -
When you created the profile , did you open each program before making it a mandatory profile ?
-
probably getting stuck on something . Check the full logs , it will tell you the name of the task/service/file that is getting it stuck . 2097

Really depends , If i was to get a normal phone and keep it for 2 years on a £35 month contract , will be £840 ( most decent smart phones to get the phone free require 24 months ) . The phone will also be worth diddly squat after 2 years . iPhone costs £530 - £230 for old phone = £300 + 24 months contract @ £5 a month = £420 ( and that's based on a 24 month contract ! most sim only deals are 12 months) Even though i wont get as many minutes with the sim only deal @ £5 , it more than covers my needs

The reason why i love apple phones is .. Not only are they great to use and are the best phones out there period ... They Keep so much of there phone value ! Just sold my old iphone 4 for £230 after having it for 2 years . I managed to bag one of the iPhone 5's 2 mins after going on Pre-Sale , so here's hoping apple keep to there word ! I always prefer buying my phone and getting a cheaper Sim only contract , my current one is £5 a month after quidco And yes i am a apple fanboy , use my ipad every day .. Actually replaced my car HU with a custom ipad bezel

I had the 1.8 version of the z3 , as long as u have a good independent BMW place near you i would say there not bad to run . If all you have are BMW garages , then forget it .. When my airbag module went , they charged me £50 for a diagnostic ( even though i had done one ) , and then told me what i already knew and basically said at a guess we think its the seat-belt pretension-er.. I said i doubt that's the problem as you cant even get a connection to the module to give up a error code , so its either wiring to the module or the module its self . So took it to a independent garage and £75 later i had a whole new airbag control module. ( By the way the reason it broke was my fault as i shorted it out with a stereo hideaway box on top of it ! ) go for the facelift version also ..
