  1. It was a Jtag exploit which allowed the flashing of a *custom* made firmware . Never done it , but seemed as simple as jtaging a xbox . If you just want to use a free view subscription , unsure of the leagalitys of it , but you could use a dream box ( which will obtain the FTA channels , allow you to record etc ) . The dreambox when connected to the network will also allow streaming of movies from a share as well . Another great feature if it also is . OpenPli comes with Open Webif Interface which means if your at work/holiday and you have all your ports corretly open , you can watch TV from your box at work.

    Folder redirection

John this is how i have set it up . the problem is a lot of our scripts use %userprofile%/Desktop to deploy shortcuts . Didnt know if there was an easier way to redirect this path to a UNC path ?
  3. How is every one redirecting the desktops ? I have set the desktops in group policy to redirect which is fine , The problem being .. %userprofile%/Desktop still redirects to the local user folder . Any solution to this ?
  4. my alienware PC had problems booting to windows 8 from Install basically if i was to reboot ( like during setup) it would not load at all ! , if i shutdown and turn on it was fine . basically to get it working i had to reboot during install , and load the overclock settings on the MB . This would allow me to get into windows 8 after install . I then needed to install the latest intel chipset and Renesas usb 3.0 driver .Then install Intel rapid storage drivers. After that rebooting windows 8 worked fine ! heres a link i followed How to install windows 8.1 on alienware aurora r3 - Alienware Forum - Alienware Club - Dell Community
  5. I wanna thank every one for there help with this . The problem was .... Drum roll ...... I was applying updates for windows before the capture . Theres obviously a update causing issues as it would allow me to capture just wouldnt apply pc name etc , or join domain . All my images are now done for my machines , im just sorting our scripting and sccm packages ! Thanks people for taking the time to solve this .
  6. indeed , i think i made it quite early on .. So was maybe missing some .. Do i just require Nic drivers in the capture ? or do you think i should add chipset/sata drivers etc as well
  7. Ok looks like it hasnt solved the problem .. But ! i might have got some where ... Basically i made a image ( using the windows CD ) for our new Fujitsu Q520's ( latest haswell processors etc ) . I acronis'd the image onto a Fujitsu Q510 ( 1Gen older ) . I then captured the image from the Q510 back to SCCM 2012 using the capture CD . I then deployed it back to the Q510 with the task sequence , and it worked fine.. Set the admin account up and joined to domain etc . What i did notice is after i captured the Computer to SCCM 2012 , the machine then automatically went back to windows setup where you could set PC name etc ( which i assume its meant to after capturing ) . On the Q520 it does not do this . So my question to note is ... The capture CD , as this uses the bootimage from SCCM 2012 . Should it have all the necessary drivers preloaded onto it ? ( as im not using a task sequence to capture ). Maybe as these Q520's are really new ..
  8. I think this has now fixed the problem . Just retesting on the correct system .. But fingers crossed ! seems good Thank you every one for the help !
  9. you know what i am an idiot ! every time i read that i assumed they meant when joining the domain make sure you use the Fully qualified domain name . I had no idea the user account also needed it ! i have been using DOMAIN\username so i should be using domain.org.uk\username . Im going to give that a go tomorrow and see what happens !
  10. Thanks all for the help ! , much apreciated . Also thansk for the screens Heres the error from setupact.log Unattended Join: DsGetDcName failed: 0x54b, last error is 0x0, will retry in 5 seconds Should i be assigning a windows 8 Driver to the Boot image and a Win7 driver as a package to the task sequence ?
  11. If you don't mind , could you please post your task seq screenshots
  12. Ok , i just deployed a straight Windows 7 image using SCCM .. and it worked fine . But if i have installed windows 7 on the machine already ( using a CD ) , customized the OS and used the catcher CD to make a WIM and then deploy that image ... none of the rest of the task sequence works such as changing PC name , re-enable the Admin or join domain ) is this normal for 2012 ? , with 2007 and XP i could build a image on a machine and catcher the WIM and deploy with SCCM
  13. Did yours manage to join to the domain ? i can live without the default Administrator account.
  14. i have tried drivers applied during the sequence and also added them to the boot image , i have also rearrange the task sequence multiple ways . I find it strange it does not activate the Administrator account also !
  15. Account is fine , im using a domain admin account as a test . verify also works . I'm thinking it could be my deployment image , as we have OEM licences , i have installed the certificates and activated in cmd prompt ? ( so is effectively a oem machine )
  16. Hi , seem to be having a few problems with this .. Everything seems setup correctly and the machine gets imaged with our pre-made Windows 7 Wim file . ( which is X 64 ) The problem is even though it is specified in the task sequence , the computers administrator password is not set , also the computer is not joined to the domain ( despite the credentials being correct ) I have used the console during deployment to make sure the PC gets an IP address , which it does . Any one experienced this ? , im tempted to try a x86 image to see if it happens with that Thanks 2097
  17. there does seem to be missing a few bits here Heres what i have done for the latest update ! create two files Deployment.config and deployment.properties copy the original settings from your user profile deployment.properties into the new deployment.properties and add the following deployment.security.mixcode=HIDE_RUN deployment.security.level=MEDIUM deployment.javaws.autodownload=NEVER inside the deployment.config put the following deployment.system.config.mandatory=true copy these to a network share . Now in the previous page there was the method on using a VBS to remove the startmenu folder . I have added the following to it to keep it nice and simple ! You can find more stuff like this on LukeTaylor.org.. Memoirs of an IT Technician
  18. Thanks for the program , says our PUSH notifications were ok Seems our problem was NOT us . Turns out the New Mac Server APP 3.1.1 build that was released a few days ago has now fixed ALL our problems and we are now deploying to AD users and Groups Thanks all for your help
  19. Still having this problem with Profile manager I tried the above suggestion , created a OD user group and nested a AD user group inside . Profile manager doesnt even attempt to send to it That being said WGM , works fine when i put a AD user account in a OD group and i can control the dock etc with that ! ?? Any more suggestions please
  20. Are you using a transparent Proxy ? - - - Updated - - - Are you using a transparent Proxy ?
  21. Was just curious if it was possible , just done a sims migration and thought i would give it a go
  22. Is there a way to create any user account outside of sims ? , i created an exact duplicate of the admin account of sims .Sims then adds it to the master DB security and the sims database security , i then copied the variables from the main admin account . It does not allow me to login with this account , so i assume im missing something ?
  23. Thanks for getting back to me Jwzg Yes i did all the above , and everything works perfect with opendirectory accounts and applying policys to the PC . Just seems AD users it wont work on . I really dont understand the issue !
  24. Interested in purchasing this for a few of our backup servers . We currently run Vmware Esxi / vsphere and are running around 15 vms . We use Vmwares "vmware data recovery" software for weekly backups to our NAS ( This excludes drives within Vm's which store large quanity of files such as profiles , my documents etc ) . For files we currently use backup exec 10 , which basically backups up the file directory's to External hard disks in caddy's. Also once a week it also copys the VM's from the NAS to a single hard disk in the hard disk caddy . Im thinking about migrating every backup program to a single solution such as veeam one but would like to know the following . 1.) is it easy to restore single or multiple files from within a VM to a external location ( such as if i wanted to restore some ones my documents ) 2.) As we do daily backups on our file directorys , can this be done on Veeam ? or would i have to do differentials on the whole VM and not a single drive ? Hopefully some one here can help me out a bit please
  25. We used to use MS SQL's built-in backup , but it basically made the file too large . So heres an easy backup script i wrote . Sims.net Complete Backup Script Appends passwords , and Rars them up also . We have them backed up onto our q nap which is attached to our Sims server as a drive/ISCSI . If you dont have a Iscsi device and your using vmware , the easiest way would be to add a hard-disk as a raw drive to store the backups.
