Due to current situations we are pushing a password change for all users today to give people 90 days grace. I have noticed on most if not all users who change their password that our start menu layout XML is not applied properly after login . By rebooting the machine or logging off and back on resolved the issue. Has any one else experienced this ? i ticked the box " User must change password at next logon " . Thanks

Having not signed up for this before , i also noticed if you signup via the program there is no mention of the Education licence. if you signup via https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/students-teachers-educators?_ga=2.183285797.265815705.1584346025-1434424368.1580907804 This asks for the name of the school etc , and also asks for start and end dates for the pupil. Hoping this helps ! , takes a little time to update also to an educational license after you fill all this info in.

Whats strange with this , I was able to do it manually on one machine and it worked fine . Re imaged that machine and tried again , Doesn't work... Despite replacing the file fine .. It now just displays "Other User" still. Im wondering if this file is cached some where ? Im Using the EN-GB folder ( Which is where mines installed )

Ok here is the registry key to set the lock screen to display the username instead of the "display name" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\ DontDisplayLockedUserId REG_DWORD Value = 4 Its present in 1909 group policys , my machine is still on 1703 and it isnt located on there or on my 2019 servers . But ! seems to be available on the local machine , Weird how the GP's on the server haven't been updated .. They are on server 2019 Gonna do it via registry key instead .. Will update this thread with the corresponding registry entry

umm This seems to be missing for me in Group Policy , which i assume is what i want ? Domain and user names only: For a domain logon only, the domain\username is displayed. The privacy setting in Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options is automatically on and grayed out.

What does that give them ? I assume it just says some one is logged in without saying a name ?

I assume you changed all the staff members first name field in AD to their first initial. Which is fine i assume , but i cant see why there isnt a way to adjust this by modifying one of the dll's ( like in the above post about "Other User" and changing that ).

Thats quite interesting , But does any one know how to stop the "Lock Screen" showing first and last name when a user locks their account , Windows 7 used to only display the username ?

I imagine most of my speed issues are down to the fact we atm dont have SSD's in our machines , Come Feb all machines will be SSD .. I will then make all teachers admin clients use the cache version which should take a little load off of the server .

Soo... We originally had ABTutor v7 which i upgraded to v9 due to the Windows 10 Upgrade. Problems i have found so far.. Unusable on any machine that doesn't have a SSD or raided HDD's . I believe this is to do with all the little writes it does to a sql file. Bypassed by using the "non-cache" trigger, but is still quite slow. Obviously changing to a server based setup means for us that we can no longer use WOL , as our Meraki switches does not allow WOL over different subnets. Things just seem to take ages to apply , like policy's for e.g. Also had the problem with ESET that when you used the "multi" login feature of ABtutor it saved the credentials in the registry, next time you reboot it will auto logon as that last used user !. Which was solved in the end. That being said Support have been good and answer quickly and gave me a few solutions for the time being Also the server interface is a really good idea and the AD login , ability to set groups up via one console etc .. Any one got a solution for getting this running good ? or at least like the original.

How do you handle the pinned icons going off screen ? do you just make it wider ? or just make them scroll.

Does the script basically fix registry entrys on already deployed printers ? are you deploying the printers via GP ? or another method. How does it work with roaming profiles ? are the old printers still there if they move rooms ? Thanks Luke

I have been fighting printer issues since rolling out my testing ( Tried kixtart and GPP, both with pretty random results ) I requested a trial of this pretty cheap software and decided to give it a go . Seems ok so far and relies on the XML of the GPP output . Thanks for the link

Just deploying windows 10 into a ICT suite , I also found this issue that when the "Local" cached profile is removed it ( at shutdown) when the user next logged on it didnt map the printer properly and resulted in no printer , a logoff and back on bought the printer back ( until the cached profile was deleted ) I deploy printers using Kixtart and for windows 7 it was perfect. My simple fix was to just update kixtart to the latest version and now printers work everytime. For any one searching this problem .. Folder redirection controls the library . My documents folder redirection was to their U:\My Documents I changed this to %HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents Everything now works as it should.
