I spent days with a few different Versions of Linux Centos 6 & 5 trying to get squid and dans guardian to work with a cache peer , NTLM authentication and Multiple filter groups . It always failed on NTLM I decided to go the Ubuntu Route , even though im not to keen on it . I started to configure it this morning , And im now done ! Squid and Dans guardian working .. Check ! Ntlm authentication Check ! Shell script works to add users to filter groups ? Check ! Multiple Bansitelists Check ! traffic forwarding via Cache Peer , Check ! Everything is working Great , so much stress off me now ! Ive even made my own template.html , with a unblock request Button Now onto testing , to make sure my URLBLACKLIST lists aint blocking nothing good ( well for staff atleast ) . i think it all boiled down to my squid.conf . So a thank you to Cools on this Thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/60485-squid-authentication-server-2008-r2.html For hes squid.conf

Squid "cache_peer" (upstream proxy) troubles
2097 replied to dgsmith's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
just to note . if i stopped squid and then ran 'squid -z -F' it then worked It must be a problem on the YUm install file . ( on centos 5.7) Ive now gone back to centos 6 , and all is well ? and working good actually straight from the box ! -

Login's slowly slowing down. Clean accounts as well.
2097 replied to dany2010's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
types of profiles ? Size of profiles ? for e.g. , our mandatorys are around 1.5mb in size and take on average 7-12 seconds to login ( fully login with all programs finished loading) Is this slow ? or good i dont know but its more than good for me ! Do you have a ATI graphics card ? we once had a problem with long login times on machines with ATI cards , was something to do with one of there services they install with the Drivers. -
2 of mine have come through ( i think ok , im not a dentist though ! ) My top left one gave me a cronic headache on saturday , it finally pierced through on sunday and headaches now gone ! , is coming out a bit sidewards though ! so will eventually get the dentist to give it a yank !

thanks for that , Had another play with better eyes this morning I now have 2 vlans working 1 on the 172 subnet and one on the 10 subnet the Internet router is on the 10. subnet the 172 network can now communicate with the 10. network , including the internet ! .. But how do i set it up so it cant access any of the other address's like the servers etc ? There seems no option for like a ACL on each vlan ?
-
Ok heres what ive done so far Installed a master controller WFS709TP Netgear for our wireless My plan is to setup two networks ( 2 vlans) ( 1 on each SSID ) vlan 1 is our main network 10.146.*.* ( used for all our laptops in school) vlan 2 is another network 172.168.*.* ( used for people who come into the school from outside ) The controllers DHCP is set to ON , and dishes out IP's to VLAN 2 VLAN1 Gets its IP's from the schools domain controller's DHCP . All works fine . The problem im finding is , how do i setup to allow vlan2 access to the internet/router on vlan1 when its on a different subnet ?. Im assuming its to do with the routing part of the config ? Any one able to help whos done this config

my alienware laptop was a bit of a dog before i upgraded it Mind you , it was the m15x laptop with the old school i7. ( £1200 after a ton of discounts i applied) The alienware m15x default graphics card was a pig and i had it replaced under warrenty which made it worse , so decided to buy a better one ! at a cost of £400 off of ebay ! , think it was a 460m or somthing.. mind you it was just released . Also replaced the processor with the i7 extreme edition 920xm replaced the HDD with a SSD , and took out the DVD and put in another HDD caddy also upgraded the ram to 8gb After all that !! it felt ok but not great ! I still prefer my core 2 quad core extreme system at home , 8gb ddr2 2x 1tb HDD's , GTX 260 . All home made and still runs great after many years . Build your self , you know what your getting ! with a large budget you can get some great stuff !

Exchange account Cant login untill Unlocked
2097 replied to 2097's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
thanks for the help Sukh I now suspect its something to do with the proxy . If i access the site via the proxy it does the above , if i add it to the exclusion list 'mail.school.com' it looks like it works ok. Only tomorrow will tell. 2097. -

Getting some stange things happening on one of my exchange accounts ! Basically .. On our admin network one user can never login to exchange 2003 weboutlook in the morning . After 2 attempts it locks the account ( even though every user is set to 5 invalid logins then lock) . After i unlock the account it then proceeeds to login fine ! The exchange server is on the curriculum network and i can login into the account fine in the morning from this network . The only thing that has happened is i changed the Admin users login/account name . any one got any recomendations to check ? Many thanks 2097

Luke because some of the AP's will be connected through other switches ( which then connect back the the core switch ) i assumed they would loose the POE fucntion as they wont be directly connected to the POE port.
-
Our sims runs fine on two totally different networks . basically they both still access the server with the hosted SQL by adding the entry into DNS And every night the SIMS data folder is copied to the other network ( which the client configs point to) And now i think ive added yet another job to my summer job list ! i still have 8 servers to transfer to Server 2008 , a absolute ton of Computers to reimage to windows 7 ( including making the image) Plus now got the added task of joining these things together . And thats not including migrating exchange to 2010 then to another server ! O what fun im going to have doing all that on my ownsum.
-
Im a little confused here . Currently the school has 2 domains , each on there own subnet Im starting to wonder why a school really requires two ? our sims runs on both networks .. So other than that would you recon there is a real need for this ? I believe it tends to over complicate things ! in a situation where its not really needed ? Any one else running the same setup that cares to input some information.

A few questions on this product if any one has it . 1.) They state 16 AP's per switch . As it only has 8 ports , i imagine i can either directly wire these in direct to the netgear wireless switch or have additional access points around the school connected via a normal switch ( obviously connects back to the main network) But loose the POE function ?. 2.) Im also assuming if i use multiple WFS709TP , i can have one that is the "master" and all the rest run off this ? Ive read the manual , they seem to over complicate everything and i imagine its a lot more simpliar than it sounds ? Many thanks 2097

I was on the original v7 which was working fine . I upgraded to the latest yesterday , replaced the hapconfig file and all was good . Suddenly i get a service unavliable ? i reboot the server and its fine again . Now i get in this morning and im getting invalid login , which i can assume is something to do with the ldap authentication . is this something any one else has experienced ? I have multiple ldap apps running off the same server using the same username and they are working fine.
