I have question about this. SCCM was set up in our college by a previous company that supported the college. As it wasn't working as it should do we took out the server that had SCCM installed and we are going to set up SCCM from scratch. As SCCM was set up before, the System Management container already exists and has the boundary range and site names in there. Is it just a case of deleting the System Management container and re-creating it or is it easier to leave the container there, delete the boundary points and other objects that are in the System management container and then just do the delegate control step to add the new SCCM server in?

I have seen that Casper looks to be very good and would manage the devices that we have. Would Casper work with active directory logins? At the moment we are using our active directory logins to login to the macs which has been working quite well for us on 10.8.

Hello All, I am looking for some information into alternatives to profile manager to manage our Mac's and possibly our iPads. We currently have a 10.8 Mountain Lion setup on both the server and the Mac's running Workgroup Manager. At the moment this works great and does everything that we want, but we are looking into upgrading the server and the clients to El Capitan (10.11). I have set up profile manager to manager the Mac's and this work to some degree. It sets the dock to how we want and sets the wallpaper for students and teachers. We have also set restrictions on which apps the users can launch. Now my problem is that while profile manager seems fairly simple to set up and it has worked, when I have come to deploy the image and test it more thoroughly, there are times where the settings don't get applied to the Mac's. It seems to be that profile manager is flaky and works sometimes and not others. So this has led me to think about using an alternative to Profile Manager to manager our Mac's and maybe iPads. I have heard of the JAMF Casper Suite and was wondering what peoples experience of this is and also what the cost of this would be. And if there are any other alternatives that are out there then please let me know and pass on your experiences with them. Many thanks, Alex

Hi, Since updating my MDT server to 2013 Update 1 I cannot now join laptops to our WiFi as part of the task sequence. Previously in MDT 2013 I had a command line run the netsh wlan add profile name="Profile.xml" command. This worked and was a big time saver when imaging laptops. But since update 1 came out the deployment fails on this step and doesn't show any error code, all I get is the red fail window and the task sequence ends. I was wondering if anybody else was joining laptops to the WiFi during a task sequence and how you were doing it. Thanks, Alex

I have set up a test mac network to role out Mavericks to our mac's eventually. We currently use Mountain Lion across school integrated with Active Directory to provide single sign on. Anyway I am setting up the test Mavericks server and client in the same way but instead of using Workgroup Manager as we have in the past, I thought I would look at using the Profile Manager instead. I have got my head around how it works I think and have enrolled the client mac and installed the trust certificate for the server. The part that I am struggling with at the moment is that I have configured settings for our students user group. When I log in as a student they don't get the settings. It looks like the profile isn't getting pushed and applied when the student logs on. Is there a guide somewhere or can anybody help me in the way they have Profile Manager set up or how to get a user groups profile to apply when they log on. Thanks

The print driver has been added to the mac server

Hi, We have been having some issues with our network printers that are connected to our Mac's. We have added the printers on our Mountain Lion server by using the IP address and selecting the HP Jet Direct option. (The printer is an HP Colour 3505n) We then use workgroup manager to assign the printer to students and staff. This was working well for students but the iMac that the teacher uses wouldn't print at all. I tried under various logins but that still didnt solve the problem. Now we seem to be having issues where other iMac's in the class are having problems printing. I was wondering how do others set up printers on their Mac's and if there is another way that would work better

Did this work for you? I am also keen to add the network home location to the sidebar as this makes it a lot easier for users to navigate to their network home when saving files

Hi, I have successfully bound our macs to active directory and they seem to be working fine. The only issue I have at the moment is when our students import footage from a camera into iMovie. it imports successfully but the footage is very choppy and stuttery. I believe this is caused by importing the footage across the network into their network home folder. I have read online to get the users to import their footage to the local hard drive but when I select "Macintosh HD" as the destination folder this still puts it into their network home folder. I believe that it still does this because when the users open finder and their desktop, documents, movies etc locations in the sidebar direct to their network location. Anyway I was wondering if any other users had any of these issues when importing movies into iMovie. By the way this is on 10.8 and iMovie 11 Thanks, Alex

Below that leave a space and the insert the line If sModel = "300E4C/300E5C/300E7C" then SModel = "300E5C" End If The parts in quotations are what you want to change the model name from and what you want to change it to. Hi, We had the same problem with our Samsung drivers with MDT. We got around this by editing the ZTIGather.wsf script located inside the Scripts folder in your DeploymentShare. If you open up your ZTIGather.wsf script and search for "smodel" you should find an if statement about halfway down similar to this: If smodel is "300E4C/300E5C/300E7C" Then smodel is "Whatever name you want to call this" This is roughly the if statement used, I cannot be sure as I don't have the script open up in front of me. Try that and remember to update your deployment share after editing the script.

Hi again, I have installed dot net 4.5 on our image and captured the image. I have then added this to a task sequence and deployed the image to a laptop but again dot net 4.5 is not installed even though it was installed when I captured the image. Has anybody else found that when they have deployed an image that was captured with dot net 4.5 installed, it is not included??
