  1. You’ll find that the build quality isn’t quite as good, the amp not as powerful and the sound quality not up there with the branded units, but the generic ones can be okay. Fixed screen rather than motorised makes a big difference to durability. Integration with your car controls may not be as comprehensive, so check whether it works with your car.

    Can't Airdrop

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211683 and choose Mojave from there.
  3. We had two cabs joined with cat5e across a corridor connected at 5Gb/s with switches that supported it, so there is some room to upgrade there. In the end I just had fibre put in as it allowed me to patch that room straight back to the server room instead.
  4. The magnificent leaders state will benefit from any seized funds, of course.
  5. Can you stack two 24s together? You'd be amazed with the difference in volume. I've not used modern 24 port switches to give an example - our 48 port Arubas are noisy - but our old Cisco SG300-28s were silent. Not sure about the 28P. Modern equivalent is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cisco-28-Port-Gigabit-Managed-SG350-28P-K9-EU/dp/B01H33XB0C
  6. Because it’s still in (extended) support, still does the job and is a good server OS (with a bad UI). I still have 1 or 2 Hyper-V servers on it, as well as a few service VMs.
  7. Microsoft: “here’s this month’s updates!” WSUS: “I’ll just nope that for you. You’re welcome”
  8. Excellent speaking and *listening* skills (factoring in disabilities that may affect this) Empathy (can that be trained?) Excellent reading and writing skills (again, factoring in relevant disabilities like dyslexia) A willingness to continually learn and upskill Be a proactive communicator
  9. It is a good idea, really. You do potentially lose write-back to AD for certain mail attributes that Hybrid gives you, as well as certain relay features.
  10. Absolutely. Its performance will depend on the complexity of the project being rendered, of course.
  11. You mentioned ‘little’ and ‘Exchange server’ together…the system requirements for 2019 still make me shudder. Will Exchange 2022 require as much RAM as the whole of Exchange Online?!
  12. If you're mirroring the screen from a 16:9 ratio laptop screen, you won't get a 4:3 image without distortion. Your options are: - Distort the image (a poor idea) - Widescreen image on 4:3 screen (what we do) - Extend the screen to the board rather than mirror, keeping a 4:3 ratio - Replace the board with a 16:9 one
  13. IME, yes. That’s how I maintain our SIMS install.
  14. Currently finding USB sticks fantastic for building individual vanilla builds of 10 Home that won’t be on the domain (so MDT would be a pain), and just used another for updating the firmware on a switch without needing to use a browser. They have no place for storing or moving anything important now IMO. A portable hard drive at home as offline backup isn’t a bad idea, but that’s about it.
  15. When we moved to Windows 10 20H2 and staff issued laptops connecting over the VPN, I used this as the cutoff to disable USB write access (we need read for cameras etc). The operational need for the sticks is gone (we did have remote access before, but many struggled to let go), and staff were only supposed to use encrypted sticks before then. There was no feedback at all received beforehand, until some staff actually tried to carry on as they had before - at which point there was some fair whinging. I showed them the alternatives that we offer, and asked them not to bring in USB sticks or hard drives. I haven't changed the policy, and they've got on with things. Try to give lots of notice, and fit it in around an operational change - like the shift to Windows 11.
  16. My office PC is on 1909 and I can't print from it at all! It's a broken mess of an install that was in-placed from 7 so needs a rebuild though
  17. I had this in December. I did this on the print server: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/how-to-fix-the-windows-0x0000011b-network-printing-error/
  18. Guessing that this is affecting our hybrid (mailbox in cloud, MX to server) as mail in doesn’t seem to appear. Mail out is working. Wonderful. I am still on holiday. Can I be bothered to sort it now? Edit: yes, the message queue was stuck and disabling the filter set it free. Hybrid not immune to this!
  19. I think he didn’t mean constable. Easy mistake.
  20. When it plays up, it really is a complete nightmare! Complex and unwieldy. VM with snapshots/bare metal is a start but even that doesn’t always fix it.
  21. We run Exchange 2016 (alas, not 2013), patched up and lovely. Why does this make you sad? 🧐 It’s now a hybrid to give me easy control of mailboxes on O365, as a halfway house to full cloud mail. It’ll never be replaced with a 2019 or 2022 server (read into that its lifespan), but it works really well. As long as it’s patched, it’s fine (apart from ZDs of course [emoji32])
  22. Have upgraded my home setup actually - my miserable ancient Plusnet router/modem with its intermittent wifi has been supplanted by a Tenda AX1800 router which will basically be an AP. Happy enough with the wired connections so no change needed there.
  23. Nothing at all, yet. Normal light bruise from being punctured. Not going to be too optimistic yet - my immune system may yet kick me in the backside!
  24. Got mine tomorrow. It’ll either write-off Christmas Day, or do very little. First two were fine, but can’t guess too much as this will be a different vaccine. Paracetamol and gin to the rescue!
  25. I'll be upgrading my GAF to the enhanced DNGAF version, which includes extra sleep. Barring anything breaking, off until the 4th
