Decent MDM is key. We still use PM - it’s flakey now to say the least, and more than once has reset the user profile settings. Even then, in general use it just works. Even without using PM, a Mac Server is a good idea for caching. Macs are great for Music. Garageband is great in KS3 and arguably KS4 too for compositions, and it’s free. That’ll offset some of the cost. Comes with masses of audio loops and samples. The hardware is pretty tough - our newest Macs are now 8 and are working well- just spec yours properly and don’t skimp on parts which are not upgradeable (like the RAM on our Mac Minis!) Adding them to AD for logins is very straightforward. Everything else is MDM based.

Is this paper tray springing up correctly and evenly when pushed in? Is the paper guide at the front of the tray intact and not creased (the little smooth plastic tab)? Does it work when the paper tray is really full? Is there a shred of paper jammed far up in the feed? Usually only accessed by dropping the bypass at the back down.

Bett 2022 - enter our biggest competition EVER!

I would use it to run the same retro games, and fairly undemanding titles as my current PC (with 11 year old CPU and GPU), but at even higher resolution… -
Is that absolutely confirmed? Do you have a source for that? I’m not sure we’re aware of that (I’m on the periphery of the project, as the technical side isn’t the issue).
-
Wow. Were you given any indicators to fix it other than ditching that part of CC? It's a very expensive module, with yearly commitments - we haven't quite sucked on that bullet yet but I know who'd be blamed when it goes pectorals to the sky...
-
Not really too long. I've had some APC units last many years (I have a 12+ year old APC SmartUPS 3000 still working beautifully, touch wood) and one died inside 5. If they have to cope with lots of brown-outs, drop-outs etc I imagine it'll wear them faster.

Oh yes, very much this needs looking at and fixing. If the phases are unbalanced, it’s a case of pulling some circuits out of the RCDs in relevant distribution boards and putting them into others. Not difficult, but needs metering to check. It could be something else, like a poor connection on a busbar or similar, but it certainly needs looking at. Disclosure: we had an issue with one phase (possibly a heat cycle on the connections) - this caused the main feed for that phase (from the substation) to heat up over many years, melt the insulation and arc onto the busbar for another phase. 300A fuse blew across the room [emoji28] Your fixed testing won’t pick up on this - they check the earths, trips/RCDs and connections in the dis boards - not current/voltage testing IME.
-
Wow, well that’s good news! It’s not your feed - you have the same sort of setup as us. You may have the phases out of balance in that area, e.g. too much load on one phase over the others. That’s a lot easier and cheaper to fix if so.
-
Big range. It looks like your school’s supply is not really up to scratch - they’re feeding it 250v and under load it’s dropping to below 220v. Not too far off spec (some on here have reported less than 210v) but the variation is big. Are you fed by a fat three phase supply from a substation, or a rusty oil-cooled transformer nailed to a pole?
-
Could be worth getting your supply checked. If it’s not silly high (i.e. outside of the normal range +-20v or so, you can change the alert threshold I think.

That’s kind of what Chloe has in the games though Claudia Black is ace.

Storm Dudley, Eunice & Franklin - How are you doing?

Nothing of note here in the hilly parts of Mid Wales. -
Someone may have to remove those accidentally. Then wire the PCs into the walls with flex fused spurs.

They may not want to change the old staff code, but they may have to do so. We have never managed it any other way (we also use X or XX as an ex-staff indicator). I have never found it to interfere with anything important.

Reassuring as we look to move to writing attendance back to SIMS from CC. I will point at this thread, and walk away.

Network losing Internet every 10 days or so
3s-gtech replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2016
If DHCP refresh intervals are set it may drop off at that point. Pure conjecture because these sort of faults are often so hard to predict, but DNS and DHCP are the first avenues to check. -

Conflicting gateways between DHCP servers? -
Switches off may mean CCTV off. Your insurance/safeguarding/site team would love that! We go to great lengths to ensure that the kit keeps working. Deliberately hobbling it is madness - switches don't cost that much to run but will cost many thousands to replace.

Exchange/Office 365 - Mail Contacts surprise!
3s-gtech replied to mdrabble's topic in Cloud Services
Has it used their mail.onmicrosoft.com address held in M365? Basically the alias used by the tenant, and a big part of Hybrid. If so, that may have leaked or been guessed. External senders should never need to send to that, but make sure your Exchange server has clearance to do so. -
No idea, but it works. We haven't got it going back to HDMI at the projector end.

Teams guest and external access - cannot get it to work!
3s-gtech replied to 3s-gtech's topic in Enterprise Software
It's the same setting, "Anonymous users can join a meeting" - it's hacky that this is needed but seemingly the only fix at the moment (unless MS could do it on a support call?) -
Teams guest and external access - cannot get it to work!
3s-gtech replied to 3s-gtech's topic in Enterprise Software
Tried the same call today, to a particular email address that didn't work yesterday (not signing in as Guest) and it works, having changed that setting - so thanks for the affirmation. It's looking hopeful - very weird how that setting is needed! Not too worried about that at the moment, as we're not doing live lessons. I did put in place the instructions for lobbies for staff though! -
Teams guest and external access - cannot get it to work!
3s-gtech replied to 3s-gtech's topic in Enterprise Software
Some are guests from other tenants (and some of these work) and some are guests via personal email addresses (which aren't working to my accounts). I definitely think it's an issue with our tenant. -
Teams guest and external access - cannot get it to work!
3s-gtech replied to 3s-gtech's topic in Enterprise Software
I have enabled that one today - though it may not have kicked in yet because having a random time delay makes testing even more fun! -
Hi all. Tearing my hair out with Teams here. Some limited organisations and accounts, I can setup a meeting on our tenant and join it from that external account. For the majority, in testing, I get an error saying "This meeting doesn't allow guests. Please contact organiser." and I can't connect. Guest access in the tenant is on. External federation is on. It's turned on when I check via Powershell. No matter what I do, I cannot schedule a meeting to these external accounts and it actually connect, and it's got to the point where SLT are on at me about it (seeming to believe that pressure = results - telling me it's really important does not make it easier to fix). Any ideas? Google-fu weak - I have been through a lot of links already.
