DNS - (Same as parent folder) questions.
mikkydoos replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Windows Server 2012
In you forward lookup zones you should have: Start of authority Netbios names of your nameservers IP addresses of your nameservers All 'same as parent folder' nameservers = probably your dc's unless you have some additional DNS servers that aren't DC's. Same as parent folder I think relates to any DNS servers not just DC's Deleting them wont do any harm anyway. The records will be created again at the first lookup - as long as you have more than one DNS server. -
VEEAM failure / Server unresponsive....
mikkydoos replied to kennysarmy's topic in Enterprise Software
Veeam on a VM on the same host is supported. I was advised to run it on its own VM so it can act properly as a proxy when processing other VMs. It can use itself as a proxy when backing up itself but not when processing other VMs in the same job. -

VEEAM failure / Server unresponsive....

Veeam 9.5 seems a little more buggy than previous versions. I've had a few issues with Veeam and VMWare. I'd say log a support call. -

it'll do .vmc Is that not the right file format?

@Primus, thats great, and I was in a school the other day who had adopted GAFE 100% and the way they operated looks amazing. A big success story and a massive improvement in student attainment. 1:1 chromebooks, the lot. The thing is that its six of one and half a dozen of the other. Those who are on O365 are on it for a good reason, or they chose it in the first place for good reason. It is a good product, especially for the office integration, the mail client is nice, and its syncs AD quite nicely. Those using Azure or cloud VM's or whatever, it makes perfect sense. The downside is that although its supposedly O365 for Edu, but its feature set isn't in any way being targetted at education. Its targetted at big business. They've just priced it down or given it away and called it 'Education'. I was hoping Classroom would differentiate it from being a business product and focus more towards schools ways of working, but they've scuttled it. On the other hand GAFE is definitely targetted at education, especially down to the worded terminology they use in the interface. They call a class a class, not a team, and the feature set is excellent, but not without flaws. The interface.. I don't personally like it but that's just me I've also seen many schools who've sunk themselves into Frog 100%... really successfully. Who's to say that in 2 years someone else won't come out with a platform that blows both away. I think some of the O365 egeekers here (and me) are p***ed off because to get a proper collaborative solution up and going the choice now looks like it has to be something other than O365, which might mean changing to another platform wholesale and losing the valuable effort they have put into O365 and their MS network as a whole. Those who've said M$ are inconsistent are bang on. Its a shame they constantly muck about and create problems for us. Out of touch I think the phrase is. and @maark. Spot on m8 re. chromebooks and Win10.

Ooh. I'd use VCentre converter. It just works.

I use GSuite for my personal stuff. The main problem I find is that the web interface is HORRIBLE. Especially on a PC/chromebook. So hard to navigate. I think that's why a lot go for O365. And the backend is more configurable especially for hybrid etc. And amazingly... I cant believe I'm saying this... but the MS phone support is excellent. The best out of any of our service providers. ** I am in no way a MS fan. They better hurry up. Its live for us ! Totally agree. What is it ??? ------------------------------------------------ I'm quite miffed about this. It looked really good. The hardest part of implementing something like this is getting staff to use it. This would have been great cos our lot are all using O365 already. I've tried pushing Moodle, Frog, Sharepoint etc in our place and can't get it off the ground for more than a couple of weeks. Looks like it has to be GAFE

The converter is free. If you're doing this in a professional environment you certainly do want to be paying for your VM Hypervisor. Stuff like Virtualbox and VMWare Workstation are not going to work for you. ESXi, VSphere are all VMWare products and work in conjunction with each other.

Changing folder view for one folder on redirected desktop
mikkydoos replied to OllyM's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Dont think you can with a GPO. I think there is a registry value that set the default view. Google it. -
I'd buy another 1tb and create a new array with a spare. Copy it over at half term. Use the 500's for something else.

That'll be why Google are doing their UK tour at the moment then. Shame. MS Classroom looked like a viable alternative. Teams just looks far too 'businessy' in its function and it terminology. Schools just don't go for that corporate thang imo.
-
Looking at Microsoft Teams... it doesn't look a patch on Google for Schools/Classroom

You can convert to different disk file formats that will work on other hypervisors too.
-
Probably because it doesn't leave the network circuit between you and them. All email cloud services are encrypted anyway these days, hence SSL, TLS protocols etc. You can set up full encryption in O365 for sure. I'd be more worried about using an LA hosted service than the big boys.

Looks like possible permissions issue to me. Set up a backup repository and add some credentials from the menu in the top left.

Is there a reason for selecting application aware processing in the job?
-
Cheers @ollyyllo. Yes I've checked that. I think its an Android requirement rather than Meraki but I'm not definite.
