Why do you need another line for your wifi? I'd say you're looking at a leased line. Virgin infrastructure is good for us but we can't get BT on-site here. Dealing with Virgin direct is expensive and their support is awful. Better off going with a reseller. With leased lines you have an SLA guaranteeing uptime, usually 99%. Refund penalties are incurred by the ISP if they fail to meet the % within a particular month. Some are going to say FTTC will suffice instead of a FTTP but I personally wouldn't especially with your numbers. You'll need a firewall and filtering solution such as Smoothwall, Sophos UTM, Bloxx etc etc but thats pretty much it. It will look expensive at the beginning. We compared our independent contract renewals to our local LA's offering when we renewed this Easter and it was less than half. We've been independent for 4 years now and haven't looked back. Everything is so much more reliable too when compared to our old LA provision. Hope this helps EDIT: Once you start talking to suppliers you'll get a much better picture of what goes on. Many of them sell filtering and firewall solutions too whether cloud hosted or in house. There is quite a long order to live date too. Usually a minimum of three months.

Went with Zen Internet recently in favour of (a direct contract with) Virgin. Happy so far and price was good. Support good too. Was your Virgin re-quote sky high like ours? We were quoted 8.5K a year for a 3 year term for 50mbs utilising the existing cabling -e.g. no civils.

Hi all, need a bit of help please with my WSUS configuration. Noticed today that there are tons of updates that are not being automatically approved. They are mainly MS Office 2016 updates and are in the Critical Updates and Security Updates categories. Approval rule: Unapproved updates: We don't have many Office 2016 machines here yet but they should still be being approved. Can anyone see anything wrong here ? Cheers in advance

Hey all, I'm getting erratic snapshot behaviour with Veeam 9.5 update 2. v9.5.0.1038. This is on VMWare ESXi 6.0. Snapshots not deleting after a backup. Getting lots of 'Consolidation needed' errors. Replica jobs failing with 'Invalid snapshot configuration' Anyone else getting these? I was getting a few of this before the upgrade too. Cheers in advance

Veeam support told me it was a known error and would be fixed in a later release. Methinks the quality of Veeam is going downhill. I'm having a few issues with B&R too. Especially with update 2 where its cr@pping all over its snapshots.

I wouldn't re buy Qnap again for big NAS's. Disk performance isn't quick and the networking is pretty slow. Little unstable too. Too many features too -- too much going on for just a storage box.

If you use IMAP and not POP mail will stay on the server and be available and synced across multiple devices. When POP mail is download into a mail client it is deleted from the server.

They are listed. It means there is an existing lease or reservation for that MAC address. In windows the MAC is listed as 'Unique ID' If not there go to View ---> add remove columns. Look in your address leases and delete the entry that corresponds with your desired MAC. Then add the reservation.

I think at present cloud services are in their infancy and there hasn't been a settling down of products/services that suit a school. Google for Edu is one thats an early contender and some schools have adopted. I would run a DCdiag /test:dns on it first though the check the functionality. In any case you can delete them and do a reboot. That will recreate them correctly.
